The paper aims to describe the implicature used by President Joko Widodo in his speech on international forums. This study employs a pragmatic analysis approach to identify the implicative meanings of his speech. The data were the videos and texts of the transcription of President Joko Widodo's speech at the APEC CEO Summit Summit in Beijing on November 10, 2014 and the Asian-African Conference in Jakarta on April 22 2015. The data were analyzed by using note-taking techniques comprising two stages, (1) classifying linguistic data that contains implicatures and  (2) interpreting the meaning behind the implicature used, based on the context of the situation and the background of the relevant discourse. Based on the results, President Joko Widodo‘s speech was dominated by several implicatures including influencing, insinuating, convincing, threatening, complaining, clarifying, and governing.

Self-assessment and peer assessment is an essential alternative assessment in this 5.0 era and in this pandemic time. Thus, this study objectives are to examine differences between self-assessment and peer assessment, as well as to describe students' perceptions of the application of self-assessment and peer assessment in the Aufsatz II course. This study uses a correlational research design. From the results of the study, it is known that the self-assessment and peer assessment of Aufsatz's writing ability has some differences in the aspects of content and coherence, while self assessement and peer assessments for the aspects of vocabulary, orthography, and grammar have no significant differences. Students still find some difficulties in making self-assessment and peer assessments, and they prefer teacher assessments to self-assessment and peer assessments.

This study is motivated by many expert opinions which state that the students' reading motivation in Indonesia still needs to be increased. The researcher tries to answer the problem by trying out a Dramatization Strategy in reading learning with the aim of increasing reading motivation. This strategy is carried out by developing students' cognitive and metacognitive abilities. The experimental method with a factorial design is chosen to determine the effectiveness of the Dramatization Strategy, either for readers with high- or low-level reading comprehension. The data sources of this study are 101 students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Bandung Regency and Bandung City. The results of the study show that the Dramatization Strategy is effective in increasing reading motivation, especially for improving reading skills and for social interaction. The implication of the study is the need for the application of the dramatization strategy by adjusting the teachers’ insights and abilities in identifying students' reading motivation.

Metacognition is important in learning since it is a higher order thinking process. Metacognition emphasizes on the students’ autonomy to determine the learning process which is right for them. This research was conducted on tenth grade class students in Jember. Research on three students was collected through interviews and observations. The research result was obtained in three parts, procedural, declarative, and conditional knowledge in each variable. The variables consist of self, task, and strategy. The ability of students to analyze literary works is very weak. An important effort to improve students’ abilities in analyzing literary works is to introduce the CDA approach as an analysis tool for literary works. This study aims to describe, interpret, and explain (1) the ability of students to identify words/phrases/sentences that are praxis in short stories, (2) the ability of students to identify the form of praxis in short stories, and (3) the ability of students to interpret the socio-cultural short stories that have been analyzed. This research uses a three-dimensional technical analysis of Fairclough discourse. The result of this study show that students able to (1) choose praxis words/phrases/sentences, such as adjectives that support binary opposition and words of denial, (2) find the form of short story praxis, such as stereotypes and discrimination, and (3) the socio-cultural dimension of the short story interpreted by students is discursive Balinese ritual tradition of the dead.

There are two objectives to be achieved by this study, first revealing the dominance of patriarchism in systems of inheritance. Secondly, revealing efforts to represent resistance to the customary systems of inheritance in literary works of Balinese cultural background. Theoretically, this research has an urgency for the development of literary discourse, while practically giving an understanding to the public about the attitude of inheritance issues in Bali. Theories of literary sociology and feminism are used as a basic foundation for analyzing the problems offered in this study. The main data sources of the research are two novels by Oka Rusmini, namely Tarian Bumi and Kenanga and two short stories by Putu Fajar Arcana, namely Sulasih and Wardani Marriage. After the data has been collected using the literature study method, then it is analyzed based on a descriptive qualitative method. The results show that the dominance of patriarchism in the adat system of inheritance has created social inequality. The customary inheritance system rules in literary works (Tarian Bumi, Kenanga, Sulasih, and Pernikahan Wardani) are monolithic, showing no partiality towards girls. Daughters who have “ninggal kedaton” (married) do not get a family “gunakaya” inheritance (gono gini). Efforts to resist patriarchal domination as represented in various literary works, starting with the character Luh Sadri, took repressive actions to sue for the distribution of inheritance, deceit, and be tough.
