In this article, we explained to take a look at the meaning of allusion and how it can be used in both day to day conversation as well as how it can be used in literature. We enforced this understanding by taking a look at some examples of how allusion can be used in both of these contexts. In most cases, allusion is used to divert the mind to something which is not within the general context of the current conversation and is often left to the imagination of the listener or reader to create the reference for themselves. When used in writing, an allusion can make a piece appear less bland and much more artful creating a more interesting reading experience. Allusion can be used in both a conversational context or within written work as a literary device. Key words: allusion, literary, mythical, figure of speech, reader, historical

В XI в. In the XI century a monk of the Studite monastery St. Nicetas Stethatus in the ascetic-theological corpus of his writings repeatedly used the expressions “main virtues” and “main passions”. The article attempts to uncover the meaning of the expression “main virtues”, to systematize the author’s ideas about the four main virtues, known to him from the ancient tradition through Christian authors, who continued to use this expression freely. The general context makes it possible to reveal the originality of the author, who compares the “four main virtues” with the fourfold part of the human soul as a great world compared to the external, small, world, which, according to ancient concepts, consisted of four primary elements. Particularly, an even more detailed comparison of the four virtues with the four abilities of the higher part of the soul, the mind, is considered. Along with this, the A. compares the five senses of the body and the five rational powers of the soul. For St. Nicetas the four main virtues are fundamental, which does not exclude the A.’s special attention to a number of other key virtues, such as humility and love. The doctrine of the four main virtues is missing from the corpus of St. Nicetas/St. Simeon the New Theologian, which more strongly emphasizes the more “school-like” and compilative nature of St. Stethatus’ heritage. The doctrines of Stethatus are considered in the context of ancient Byzantine literature.

Malebranche's conception of imagination is often thought to be entirely contained in Book II of La Recherche de la vérité, which aims at destroying the beliefs and false theories resulting from the untempered use of that faculty. And yet Malebranche shows, in Book VI of the same work, that imagination has an essential function in the construction of science, particularly when it comes to producing geometrical models for phenomena; and it is, from the point of view of cognition, a singular cunning of reason which associates the presence of corporeal affects in the mind, and ideas, which enlighten it without touching it. This conception rests upon unacknowledged quotations from the Regulae ad directionem ingenii, which Malebranche must have had at hand while working on the Recherche. At stake is, for us, the precise understanding of the relation between mathematics and imagination, first in the Regulae and then in the Recherche, in the general context of the project of a universal science or mathesis universalis.

In Thai classical literature there is a kind of description used in portraying love scenes. Disguised in expressions of double meaning, these passages are, on the surface, beautiful descriptions, but are, at the same time, rather risqué. The portrayal is called ‘miracle scene’ after the word ‘āścarya’ (miracle) at the beginning of each passage. The literary device in the description is somewhat similar to the Sanskrit alajkāra, ‘samāsokti’ in which a second meaning is understood because of the epithets common to both meanings.

From the 1990s onwards in particular, much significance has been given to theatre that is themed around the dual relationship between the mind and exposing the hidden memory, or re-animating what has been erased from memory. The aim of this paper is to uncover and defend the existence and future existence of a dystopic world in terms of how the mind relates it with reality in two post-modern plays, Escaped Alone (2016) and Far Away (2000), by one of British theatre’s most prominent of playwrights Caryl Churchill. Churchill, who is familiar negative direction that the world within which she lives is going, makes mention of a world that is leaning towards an unpredictable chaos by putting violence, death, and political events at the forefront. Within the frame of Jeanette Malkin’s Memoy-Theatre theory, the notion of the hidden memory emerges as Churchill uses the art of over-representation. In Far Away, how memory is changed and re-created as well when and how it affects the persona is emphasized through the use of three characters. Escaped Alone, which is about four women in their 70s who are reminiscing while gathered around in a backyard, the concept of time mangled into a state of complexity, bits and pieces of memories merge together, and global mayhem is projected before people’s eyes. Savagery and barbarianism are at the helm of each of these two plays. Churchill paints the future with a bleak sense of hopelessness and leaves her works open-ended. Key Words: Churchill, Far Away, Escaped Alone, Postmodern Theater, Memory

The topic of this article is the psychology and teaching of the Danish psychologist, philosopher and poet Ludvig Feilberg (1849- 1912). Feilberg described how, in the human body and mind, two basically different kinds of movement act as forces in opposite directions. He conjectured that these two kinds of forces give rise to two modes of consciousness (nonreflexive and reflexive consciousness). By appropriate use of the basic functions of consciousness we may facilitate its ability to organize itself, thereby making psychological and mental development possible by transformations of the mind. Feilberg experienced that nature is able to open our mind to infinity and eternity. In this, and in other ways, nature may lead us towards or into religion. In view of present-day science it is possible to explain many of Feilberg´s observations, which renders his psychology more readily applicable. Key words: Spontaneity – creation – re-creation – vitalization – organisation – transformation – reflection – life – nature – religion.
