Perineal injury following childbirth can result in complications such as wound infection and dehiscence. The reported incidence of these complications in the literature range between 0.1-23.6% and 0.2-24.6%, respectively. However, the healing of disrupted perineal wounds is poorly understood. In addition, it is a neglected area in maternity services. In this review, the authors explore the process of wound healing in the context of infected perineal wounds following childbirth. In addition, the authors describe the management of complications including hypergranulation, perineal pain and dyspareunia.

The prevalence of maternity women with perineal injuries in Indonesia in the 25-30 year age group waa 24%, while the 32-39 year old was 62%. Perineal wounds are the cause of postpartum maternal bleeding. Postpartum causes are the main cause of 40% of maternal deaths in Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the effect of betel leaf water decoction on post partum women perineal wound healing at the Independent Practice of midwife R. Agustina in West Bandung in 2021. This research used the Quasi Experimental Design method, with the Post Only Control Group approach. The population in this study were all postpartum women who had grade I and II perineal injuries at PMB R. Agustina in July 2021 which consisted of 30 respondents. The location of this research was carried out at the Independent Practice of the midwife R. Agustina West Bandung in July 2021. The variables of this study were betel leaf boiled water and perineal wounds. The research instrument was the REEDA Scale. The results showed that the average perineal wound healing before intervention in the experimental group was 10.60 and after intervention was 5.87, while the average perineal wound healing before test was 10.87 and after the test was 6.93. There were differences in perineal wound healing between the experimental and control groups at PMB R. Agustina West Bandung (p-value = 0.012). This intervention is expected to be used by the community as a method in overcoming the problem of perineal wound healing among post partum women.

The review presents data from the analysis of the literature on various options of using negative pressure wound therapy after abdominal-perineal extirpation of the rectum. We have selected 10 scientific papers for analysis, and no randomized trials have been found in the literature. The use of local negative pressure led to an acceleration of tissue repair and a decrease in complications in the perineal wound area. However, at the moment, the data presented in the literature are insufficient for an objective assessment of the effectiveness of the technique. It is necessary to conduct randomized trials to objectively evaluate the methodology.

Background:Rupture is an injury to the perineum caused by natural tissue damage due to pressure on the fetal head or shoulders during delivery. Postpartum infection (puerpuralis) is an infection of the genitalia after childbirth, which is characterized by an increase in temperature to 38ºC or more for 2 days in the first 10 days after delivery, excluding the first 24 hours. Postpartum infection includes all inflammation caused by entry of germs. or bacteria into the genital tract at the time of delivery and postpartum. Objective:The specific purpose of this study was to describe the level of knowledge of the mother about the prevention of perineal wound infection at the Kristina Clinic in 2021. This study used Non Probability Technique Sampling which is the total sampling method. The samples in this study were all postpartum mothers, both those who experienced rupture and those who did not at Kristina Clinic 2021, as many as 20 people. The research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to all postpartum mothers. The results: obtained based on the knowledge of postpartum mothers about the prevention of perineal wound infection based on education, it can be seen from the majority of respondents having good knowledge with 11 people (55.0%) and the minority having knowledge less with the number of 7 people (35.0%). Conclusion: It is hoped that midwives will be able to conduct postnatal visits for 6 weeks in order to monitor the healing process of perineal wounds in patients to avoid infection of perineal wounds and provide education on how to prevent perineal wound infections and the signs and dangers of perineal wounds.

One of the complications experienced by postpartum mothers is the presence of perineal wounds which can cause more severe pain effects (Sumiaty, 2017). One of the non-pharmacological ways to reduce pain is to drink red ginger. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of drinking red ginger on reducing the intensity of perineal wound pain in postpartum women at BPM Permata Bunda Tuban. This research method is analytic experimental with a pre-experimental design (Static-group comparison design). The sample of this study was 44 postpartum mothers which were divided into 2 groups, namely the control and treatment groups, with a systematic random sampling technique. Data analysis used Sample t-Test (Independent sample t-Test). Based on the results of the study, it was obtained from 22 respondents (postpartum mothers) on the 5th day who were not given drinking red ginger, most of the respondents experienced moderate perineal wound pain as many as 13 (59.10%), while from 22 respondents (postpartum mothers) on the 5th day, most of those who were given red ginger had mild perineal wound pain as much as 12 (54.60%). The results of the analysis using the sample t-test test found that P of 0.000 is smaller than 0.05, then H1 was accepted that there was an effect of giving red ginger to decrease the intensity of perineal wound pain in postpartum mothers at BPM Permata Bunda Tuban

One of the main causes of maternal death in developing countries is puerperal infection. Midwifery care, body immunity, postnatal care, nutrition, anemia and genetalia hygiene are factors that trigger puerperal infections. The perineal rupture if not treated properly will cause an infection in the suture wound in the perineum. Wound care is important because germs can enter through the suture marks on the perineum and cause infection. Non-pharmacological therapies that can be used to accelerate wound healing are Anredera cordifolia. The research design was quasi experimental with posttest approach Only Control Group Design, namely data collection was done after treatment. The total sample was 32 postpartum mothers according to inclusion criteria. The data observed in this study were the degree of healing of perineal wounds using the REEDA scale perineal wound healing observation sheet instrument (Redness, Edema, Ecchymosis, Discharge and Approximation). Based on the results of the Mann Whitney test, the mean rank of the results in the treatment group was 11.83 lower than the control group, namely 21.8 (p-value = 0.001). Effect of giving Anredera cordifolia leaves on the healing of perineal wounds in postpartum mothers significantly. Care with giving Anredera cordifolia leaves can accelerate the healing of perineal wounds compared to 10% iodine povidone. Anredera cordifolia leaves can be used as a complementary therapy for postpartum mothers who experience perineal torn wounds.
