Abstract This study aimed to investigate the key factors of sustainability of hotel social responsibility from the effectiveness of the hotel intern training system. Using a mixed research method, a sample was first selected by purposive sampling, and 280 questionnaires were obtained by snowballing from September 2019 to February 2020. Using Statistical package for social sciences (SPSS, AMOS) IBM 22.0 software, the reliability of the questionnaires was confirmed by the CFA method, examined by Pearson Correlation Analysis, and then the opinions of hoteliers, experts, and senior employees on the questionnaire results were obtained by interview method and finally, the data were compiled and analyzed by multivariate verification. The study found that: Chinese hoteliers are unable to stabilize their employees' motivation and fulfill their internal social responsibility due to insufficient human resource training system, welfare benefits, job rotation mechanism, and poorly defined reward and punishment system. In order to stabilize the implementation of perfect internal corporate responsibilities for entrepreneurs, it is necessary to strengthen corporate culture promotion, improve the existing promotion system, increase employee benefits, and adjust the working environment and facilities. In this way, even in a harsh working environment, it can still increase employees' recognition of the company, improve work performance, and increase employees' willingness to stay.

Introduction: This short report describes the piloting of a resilience building workshop for pharmacy interns to aid with the transition from university to the workforce. Methods: A 2-hour workshop was designed focussing on responding to change and exploration of real-life examples that interns had encountered in the workplace. The workshop involved a combination of whole and small group discussions, problem-solving and self-reflection. A total of 108 interns participated in the workshop as part of The University of Sydney Pharmacy Intern Training Program. Conclusion: Pharmacy educators must continue to embed resilience training in curricula to promote graduates’ readiness to transition and deal with adversity in the contemporary workforce.

Abstract Background Newly qualified medical practitioners (interns) in South Africa (SA) are part of the frontline healthcare workers who face Africa’s most severe COVID-19 pandemic within an environment already burdened with tuberculosis, HIV and trauma epidemics. The experiences of interns during the pandemic reflect SA’s preparedness to respond in a crisis and inform strategies that could be adopted to balance training and service in resource-challenged contexts. This study explored the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats posed by the COVID-19 pandemic as reflected on by interns within clinical training platforms in SA.Methods An online survey tool consisting of ten open-ended questions based on the SWOT framework related to personal and professional perspectives to clinical training during the COVID-19 pandemic was developed using SurveyMonkey. Due to lockdown restrictions, all data were collected remotely with the survey instrument being distributed via the social media platform WhatsApp. Three coders thematically analysed data until consensus was reached.Results Forty-six first- and second-year interns reflected on personal and systemic challenges as the major threats and weaknesses in intern training during the COVID-19 pandemic. Extrapolating on strengths and opportunities, there were three overarching learnings interns reflected on. These related to being a medical professional, being in a learning environment, and specific learnings realised. Existing challenges in the environment exacerbated the threats posed by COVID-19 and innovative strategies related to improving support, feedback and broadening the intern curriculum were identified. In addition, the use of online training around holistic care and intern evaluation was mooted as an innovation to develop out of this pandemic.Conclusion Although the clinical environment where interns learn and work is often stressful and overpowered by high service burdens, there are unique opportunities to enhance self-directed learning and graduate competencies, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Labor export is acknowledged as a socio-economic development strategy of Vietnam. Since 2017, the number of Vietnamese intern trainees in Japan has been rapidly increasing, making Vietnam the top country that sends interns to Japan. The increase benefits both countries. However, in addition to the benefits, a number of problems related to the implementation of the program are remaining, particularly the increasing number of overstaying of Vietnamese trainnees. Previously, several research has examined the reasons of this phenomenon but mainly focused on economic aspects. This paper aims at exploring the causes of this phenomenon by examining the ambiguity of the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP). The paper firstly introduce the primary goals and implementation of the TITPcontributes to the overstaying of Vietnamese interns. Secondly, the paper examines the differences between the TITP's goals and its implementation as well as how the inconsistencies contribute to the illegal stay of Vietnamese intern trainees. Finally, the paper will propose some practical solutions to minimize the flee and illegal stay of Vietnamese trainees in Japan hence, improving the effectiveness of this program.

Objective. To improve the mastering of treatment tactics of patients with acute surgical abdominal pathology by interns of the specialty "Surgery".Material and methods. We performed an analysis of the effectiveness of the education-methodological process in interns of the specialty "Surgery" for mastering the surgical tactics of treatment of patients with acute surgical abdominal pathology at the Department of General Surgery of Bukovinian State Medical University during 2017-2020 years.Results. Optimization of intern training was carried out due to the introduction of modern minimally invasive methods of surgical interventions and the latest highly informative diagnostic and prognostic criteria for the complicated course of acute surgical abdominal pathology. The effectiveness of training is improved through the use of modern interactive technologies, for assessing the knowledge of interns the method of discussion polling is preferred.Conclusion. Perfect mastery of modern minimally invasive methods of interventional treatment, understanding of their place and significance is an important component of effective learning of treatment tactics of acute surgical abdominal pathology by interns in the specialty "Surgery".

PurposeThe perspectives of industry instructors from a case enterprise were adopted to analyze various contexts of internship implementation and to examine feasible strategies for incorporating internships in the human resource development process.Design/methodology/approachA Taiwanese enterprise stationed in China was selected for case study. This study focused on the 2019 summer internship program. Interviews were conducted with 23 industry instructors.Findings(1) Units should effectively employ interns by guiding them to learn by doing tasks. (2) Provide training and assign personal industry instructors to guide interns in learning by doing, thereby establishing workplace relationships in advance. (3) High-level leaders and senior managers must pay close attention to internship results and inspire industry instructors and interns to perform internship tasks. (4) Managers of internship units must participate in interviews to select potential employees that satisfy unit requirements. (5) Opportunities for university teachers to interact with enterprises and recommend interested students who learn knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics (KSAOs) that fulfill enterprise requirements should be increased.Practical implicationsEnterprises must systematically plan internship tasks, recruitment and selection, as well as practices and reports if they wish to employ interns as potential human resource.Originality/valueThis study used the practical perspectives of industry instructors to establish the contexts and strategies of intern training for human resource development. The results of this study are expected to provide a reference for enterprises in planning internship workplaces and increase their willingness to employ interns.

Based on the results of the Licensed Integrated Exam (LIЕ), the level of knowledge of students and interns of higher educational institutions of medical direction is determined, a decision is made on the possibility of their further study and work, and a rating of medical universities is formed. Purpose: to determine, structure, analyze and evaluate factors affecting the process of preparing students and interns in the pharmaceutical field for LIE «Krok 2. Pharmacy» and «Krok 3. Pharmacy» (K2F and K3F); based on the data obtained, study the possibilities of optimizing the implementation of this process. Objects: results (general and by discipline) of the K2F licensed exam of 2016‒2019, the pilot (2017) and licensed (2019) K3F exam at the Danylo Halytskyy Lviv National Medical University. Methods: statistical processing of the results of LIE. Factors that affect the success of student/intern training are structured in three groups: individual (personalized), group (group training) and external. There is no interdependence between the results of LII K2F and the average score for training in the diploma supplement. It is established that there is a connection between the success of preparation for LIE K2F and belonging to the group. This leads to the assumption that the success of training may be partly influenced by the personality and method of teaching, the level of knowledge and demands on pairs of specific teachers, as well as the environment of a particular student (the influence of classmates). The analysis of deviations of the indicator of an estimation of a level of knowledge of students on separate educational disciplines has shown, approximately on 80%, a homogeneous tendency. The largest intervals of deviation of this indicator were observed for pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacognosy, slightly smaller ‒ drug technology; the smallest ‒ for the organization of the economics of pharmacy, management and marketing in pharmacy, clinical pharmacy. According to the results of the analysis of the indicator of assessment of the level of knowledge it was established that its distribution both in the negative and in the positive direction in the main group was uniform (is at one level), but in others ‒ negative prevails 1.5 times. The value of the deviation of the indicator of assessment of the level of knowledge had a natural relation to the medial indicator.

This paper analyzes recent policy reforms made to foreign care work in Japan. The two policy reforms discussed in this paper are 1. The expansion of categories in the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) and 2. The inclusion of domestic workers into the Japanese labour sector through the use of National Strategic Special Zones. By analyzing these policymaking processes, the following four observations were made salient. 1. That policy reforms were largely driven by economic motivations; 2. That the policymaking processes that determined the nature of these reforms were led by politicians who were acting on behalf of the interests of business leaders; 3. That the Japanese government continues to utilize policies that deny labourers permanent residency or citizenship status, such as temporary worker programs, in order to avoid implementing migration practices that allow workers to become Japanese citizens; and 4. That the government holds contradicting attitudes towards care work, whereby eldercare is increasingly considered professional/skilled work, while domestic work is regarded as low/semi-skilled labour. These findings suggest that Japan’s foreign care immigration policies are designed to recruit temporary workers in ways that violate their human rights for the purpose of exploitation, in addition to the original goal of transferring skills to sending countries. With this in mind, I conclude my paper by arguing that these policymaking processes reproduce a gendered, racialized, and classed international division of labour and a global care chain

Background: Pharmacy students receive training to effectively communicate with patients about their medications. Objectives: A theory-based approach (Communication Accommodation Theory [CAT]) was used to investigate the impact of communication skills’ tutorials on Pharmacy students’ self-reported attitudes, beliefs and behaviours in patient communication. Methods: Final year Pharmacy students completed an online, 30-item, patient-centred communication survey at three points in time, before and after attending three CAT-based tutorials (Survey #1 and Survey #2). Survey #3 was distributed six to twelve months into students’ intern training year (post-graduation). Differences between participants’ responses over time were measured and analysed. Results: Response rates were 78% for Survey #1, 84% for Survey #2, and 28% for Survey #3. Further analysis indicated that Survey #3 respondents were not statistically different from the larger sample size. Key areas changed from baseline (Survey #1) to post tutorials (Survey #2) and were sustained well into Pharmacy students’ intern year (Survey #3). Conclusions: This novel research indicated growing awareness and retention of key communication behaviours over time.

This paper analyzes the characteristic of labor management in the Japanese labor market through the Technical Intern Training Program (TITP)—one of Japan’s foreign labor policies to supply labor force from Asian neighbors into domestic sectors. Previous studies on TITP were mainly focused on institutional and industrial analyses. These studies often focus on how trainees are inserted into restructured labor market to augment labor shortage amid global economic competition. On the other hand, this paper focuses on the 1) ideological analysis of the framework of government policy and 2) its function on actual labor management in TITP. This perspective seeks to contribute to an understanding of the mechanism of migrant control by the state and labor management by the employer. As a result, this paper shows, how the state and employer manage the “silent workers” by using paternalistic labor management and the On (恩) ideology of indebtedness.
