The crux of the dispute on the mutual relations between attention and consciousness, and to which I have referred in this paper, lies in the question of what can be attended in spatial attention that obviously resonates with the phenomenological issue of intentionality (e.g., the noesis-noema structure). The discussion has been initiated by Christopher Mole. He began by calling for a commonsense psychology, according to which one is conscious of everything that one pays attention to, but one does not pay attention to all the things that one is conscious of. In other words, attention is supposed to be a condition which is sufficient but not necessary for consciousness, i.e., consciousness is a necessary concomitant of attention, but attention is not a necessary concomitant of consciousness. Mole seeks to validate his stance with data from psychology labs. His view is, however, partly confronted, for instance, by Robert Kentridge, Lee de-Wit and Charles Heywood, who used their experimental research on a neurological condition called blindsight as evidence of a dissociation between attention and consciousness, i.e., that visual attention is not a sufficient precondition for visual awareness. In this meta-theoretical state of affairs, I would like to focus on the cognitive phenomenon most often referred to as Inhibition of Return (IOR) and suggest that, following its micro dynamics from the perspective of micro-phenomenology, it can be used to actually showcase all of the options on both sides of the argument. One of my leading goals would be also to follow Mole’s attempt to link attention with agency but where we differ is that I wish to heuristically articulate the matter in terms of Merleau-Ponty’s phenomenological notion of embodied pre-reflective intentionality.

The purpose of writing the results of community service is to give an overview of the implementation of activities carried out to express gratitude for the inauguration of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram conducted by carrying out the dedication to the community in Pura Batu Bolong West Lombok Regency. This devotion also aims to implement the value and conception of Tri hita karana in the community. The conception of Tri hita karana is so full of noble values. However, the understanding of society that is still in the theoretical state needs to be developed and implemented so that the conception can be implemented in the state of practice of Hindu religious life. The method used is observation and study of libraries. While in this activity, the conception of Tri hita karana is a Hindu teaching that focuses on respect and appreciation to God, man, and the environment to achieve harmony and harmony of a happy life on all elements. Through the writing of the results of community service is expected to give a picture of the sublime conception of Tri hita karana and can be done a more in-depth review.

The article is devoted to defining the correlations between the principles of the domestic system of execution and serving of criminal punishments. The issue focuses on defining the links between the principles of criminal enforcement policy and criminal executive law. The article analyzes the theoretical positions of scientists who study this issue. The vast majority of scholars' positions are focused on the dominant position of domestic policy in the field of execution and serving sentences as a key element of the entire penitentiary system. Given this, the correlation between the principles of the elements of the system of execution and serving sentences is determined by giving priority to the principles of domestic policy over the principles of other elements, taking into account the direct criminal law. As can be seen, this theoretical state is due to the leading importance of the positivist concept of the origin of law, which is very common among domestic scholars. The article draws attention to the inevitable shortcomings of which leads to excessive attention to this concept. One of these shortcomings is the gradual reduction of the role of the natural law concept in society and, as a consequence, the narrowing of human rights and freedoms. The paper emphasizes that this aspect is unacceptable for a modern, democratic state in which the indisputable axiom is the proclamation of the leading role of human rights and freedoms in society and the state. Thus, under these conditions, the natural law concept should play a key role in building modern legal systems. Thus, the article defines the result according to which the correlation of the principles of the domestic system of execution and serving criminal sentences should take place with priority given to the principles of criminal executive law over all elements, taking into account the principles of domestic policy in the execution and serving of criminal sentences.

Systems of “living” polymers are ubiquitous in industry and are traditionally realised using surfactants. Here I first review the theoretical state-of-the-art of living polymers and then discuss non-equilibrium extensions that may be realised with advanced synthetic chemistry or DNA functionalised by proteins. These systems are not only interesting in order to realise novel “living” soft matter but can also shed insight into how genomes are (topologically) regulated in vivo.

Graphic novels and comic books are no longer minor cultural artifacts which are produced to generate economic benefits, mostly consumed by young, not very literate, readers who do not hope to be educated but simply entertained. Quite on the contrary, authors such as Will Eisner, Art Spiegelman, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman or Umberto Eco has vindicated the fundamental role these artistic manifestations play nowadays. The present paper analyzes Carol Shields and Patrick Crowe 2016 graphic novel adaptation of Susanna Moodie’s seminal book Roughing it in the Bush. In order to reach this goal, a brief theoretical state of the art is introduced. Consequently, the original writer and text are equally studied. Finally, the contemporary graphic novel adaptation is considered, explaining the genesis of the project as well and the similitudes and differences it shows when compared to the original work by Susanna Moodie.

This article presents a brief review of the experimental and theoretical state of the art regarding the leakage flow prediction of brush seals. The authors model a computational fluid dynamics (CFD)-based approach for the leakage flow of brush seals. The brush seal is treated by modeling its real geometrical structure, namely numerous bristles in an array in transverse flow. The fluid domain is segregated into discrete volumes surrounding each bristle. Two different discretization schemes are chosen to study their influence on the leakage behavior. Furthermore, for each scheme multiple inter-bristle distances, pressure ratios and turbulence models are evaluated. In addition, the influence of irregular arrangement configurations, which forms a quasi-chaotic inner structure, is studied. The results gained are compared to other authors' experimental and numerical data.

The objective of this paper is to examine the influence of the deterioration of the stone material in the structural capacity of the tomb of Khunes at Qubbet el-Hawa, through the evaluation of its static structural behaviour in the face of an earthquake. For this, two different cases are examined, the first is to evaluate the model corresponding to the ideal theoretical state of the tomb and the second is to make another model that considers the internal fractures of the rock in which the hypogeum was excavated. The calculation is made up of a static analysis that evaluates the stability of the whole, and a dynamic analysis of our results that estimates the tension distribution, displacements and deformations that might occur under the influence of an earthquake with particular characteristics of the area. The results provide accurate information on two issues: the behaviour of the stability of the tomb that is expected in the current state and given its mechanical behaviour; the response to an earthquake in view of the special characteristics of the geographical location.

This paper discusses the issue of standardization. It has been stated that the present theoretical state of standardization studies does not meet the requirements of the companies operating in innovative market sectors. To solve this problem, it is necessary to form a balanced standardization system. As a basis for such a system, it is proposed to develop standards which can be edited and improved not only by the top management of a company but also by staff members involved in performing the tasks specified in these standards. Furthermore, balancing the system implies detecting and eliminating conflicts between different standards. The authors describe the types of requirement interaction. Finally, the methods for standardization system quality are developed.
