AbstractEmotion dysregulation has been posited as a key transdiagnostic factor of mental health difficulties, including eating disorders. However, how this transdiagnostic factor interacts with the disorder-specific factor of weight and shape concerns remains unclear. The current study examined whether emotion dysregulation is associated with eating disorder behaviors over and above the association between weight and shape concerns and whether these two factors interacted. The current study used data from two samples, a community sample of high school students (n = 2699), and a clinical sample of adolescents receiving outpatient treatment for an eating disorder (n = 149). Participants completed self-report measures on their eating behaviors, weight/shape concerns, and emotion dysregulation. Findings showed that emotion dysregulation had a unique association with engaging in binge eating and purging (community sample only). Weight and shape concerns were found to have a unique association with engaging in binge eating, fasting, purging, and driven exercise (community sample only). Additionally, weight and shape concerns moderated the association between emotion dysregulation and the probability of engaging in binge eating and driven exercise, whereby the strongest association between emotion dysregulation and these behaviors were observed among adolescents with the lowest levels of weight and shape concerns. Regarding the frequency of eating disorder behaviors, emotion dysregulation had a unique association with severity of binge eating and fasting. Weight and shape concerns were uniquely associated with severity of fasting and driven exercise (community sample only). Findings suggest that emotion dysregulation is a distinct factor of eating disorder behaviors among adolescents.

Aortopulmonary window (APW) seen in association with anomalous origin of left coronary artery from pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) is extremely uncommon. When faced with this combination, ALCAPA usually goes undetected since most of the clinical and echocardiographic features of ALCAPA, including ventricular dysfunction are absent due to co-existent pulmonary hypertension. Herein we report a 5-month-old child with a large APW in whom a preoperative computed tomography angiogram facilitated the diagnosis of ALCAPA. The case is described for its rarity and the challenges faced during management. Also, it is extremely crucial that this coronary anomaly is identified and corrected during surgery, since failure to do so results in unforeseen postoperative ventricular dysfunction.

The custom of horse burial, of foreign extraction, was carried across the Italian borders by the Lombards during their migration in 568 AD. The buried horses are linked to a variety of human remains: not only warriors, but also young women, adult males without weapons, and men who did not possess the osteological markers of warriors. The focus is on one of the most interesting examples in Lombard Italy, the necropolis of Spilamberto, due to the unique association of horses with young ladies. This paper argues that the horses buried in the Italian Lombard necropolises (late sixth / seventh century), were cultural symbols borrowed from the warfare sphere, but primarily used, in death, as emblems of unique status, whether or not there was a factual involvement in warfare-matters during life.

Cremation 168 from the second half of the 8th century BCE (Pithekoussai’s necropolis, Ischia Island, Italy), better known as the Tomb of Nestor’s Cup, is widely considered as one of the most intriguing discoveries in the Mediterranean Pre-Classic archaeology. A drinking cup, from which the Tomb’s name derives, bears one of the earliest surviving examples of written Greek, representing the oldest Homeric poetry ever recovered. According to previous osteological analyses, the Cup is associated with the cremated remains of a juvenile, aged approximately 10–14 years at death. Since then, a vast body of literature has attempted to explain the unique association between the exceptionality of the grave good complex, the symposiac and erotic evocation of the Nestor’s Cup inscription with the young age of the individual buried with it. This paper reconsiders previous assessments of the remains by combining gross morphology with qualitative histology and histomorphometric analyses of the burnt bone fragments. This work reveals the commingled nature of the bone assemblage, identifying for the first time, more than one human individual mixed with faunal remains. These outcomes dramatically change previous reconstructions of the cremation deposit, rewriting the answer to the question: who was buried with Nestor’s Cup?.

Unique association of sulphosalts was discovered at the Kľačianka occurrence, Nízke Tatry Mts., Slovak Republic. It is bound to thin hydrothermal veins with Sb mineralization hosted by the Variscan muscovite-biotite granodiorite and granite of Prašivá type. Ore mineralogy and crystal chemistry of ore minerals are studied here by ore microscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, electron microprobe analyses, and Raman spectroscopy. The early ore mineralization composed of pyrite and arsenopyrite is hosted in quartz gangue and is followed by abundant association of sulfosalts. Stibnite, zinkenite, robinsonite (including Cu-bearing variety), jamesonite, scainiite, dadsonite, disulfodadsonite, rouxelite, chovanite, semseyite, boulangerite, geocronite, tintinaite (with low Bi contents), tetrahedrite-(Fe), tetrahedrite-(Zn), bournonite, chalcostibite, bismuthinite, and gladite in association with sphalerite and rare galena and gold are identified here. The chlorine-rich character of the described sulphosalt association is its characteristic phenomenon. It is represented not only by the occurrence of Cl-sulphosalt and dadsonite, but increased Cl contents were detected in boulangerite, chovanite, disulfodadsonite, robinsonite, rouxelite, scainiite, or tintinaite. The presence of oxygen-containing sulphosalts, such as rouxelite, scainiite and chovanite, is also interesting. The crystallization of these rare chloro-, oxy- and oxy-chloro-sulphosalts at the Kľačianka occurrence required very specific conditions (elevated O2/S2 fugacity) and high chlorine activity in ore-forming fluids.

Investigation of every crime scene with digital evidence is predominantly required in identifying almost all atomic files behind the scenes that have been intentionally scrubbed out. Apart from the data generated across digital devices and the use of diverse technology that slows down the traditional digital forensic investigation strategies. Dynamically scrutinizing the concealed or sparse metadata matches from the less frequent archives of evidence spread across heterogeneous sources and finding their association with other artifacts across the collection is still a horrendous task for the investigators. The effort of this article via unique pockets (UP), unique groups (UG), and unique association (UA) model is to address the exclusive challenges mixed up in identifying incoherent associations that are buried well within the meager metadata field-value pairs. Both the existing similarity models and proposed unique mapping models are verified by the unique metadata association model.

Memory of an ordered sequence of distinct events requires encoding the temporal order as well as the intervals that separates these events. In this study, using order place association task where the animal learns to associate the location of the food pellet to the order of entry into the event arena, we probe the nature of temporal order memory in mice. In our task, individual trials, become distinct events, as the animal is trained to form unique association between entry order and a correct location. The inter-trial intervals (> 30 mins) are chosen deliberately to minimise the working memory contributions. We develop this paradigm initially using 4 order place associates and later extend it to 5 paired associates. Our results show that animals not only acquire these explicit (entry order to place) associations but also higher order associations that can only be inferred implicitly from the temporal order of these events. As an indicator of such higher order learning during the probe trail the mice exhibit predominantly prospective errors that declines proportionally with temporal distance. On the other hand, prior to acquiring the sequence the retrospective errors are dominant. Additionally, we also tested the nature of such acquisitions when temporal order CS is presented along with flavour as a compound stimulus comprising of order and flavour both simultaneously being paired with location. Results from these experiments indicate that the animal learns both order-place and flavour-place associations. Comparing with pure order place training, we find that the additional flavour in compound training did not interfere with the ability of the animals to acquire the order place associations. When tested remotely, pure order place associations could be retrieved only after a reminder training. Further higher order associations representing the temporal relationship between the events is markedly absent in the remote time.

We report a healthy-appearing 7-month-old girl of non-related ancestry, uneventful pre - and postnatal development and past medical history, who was investigated for lung Tuberculosis (TB) in her mother. Tuberculin skin test was highly positive (20 mm induration, normal range 0-5 mm in unvaccinated children). Chest X-ray (CXR) revealed a surprising image suggestive of the presence of abdominal contents in the thoracic cavity (Figure 1); the unobscured lung parenchyma showed no signs of TB.

In marine systems, behaviorally-mediated indirect interactions between prey, mesopredators, and higher trophic-level, large predators are less commonly investigated than other ecologic interactions, likely because of inherent difficulties associated with making observations. Underwater videos (n = 216) from SharkCam, a camera installation sited beneath Frying Pan Tower, a decommissioned light house and platform, on a natural, hard bottom site approximately 50 km off Cape Fear, North Carolina, were used to investigate association behavior of round scad Decapterus punctatus around sand tiger sharks Carcharias taurus. Videos containing sand tiger sharks were analyzed for the simultaneous presence of round scad, and six species of scad mesopredators, with scad-shark interactions assigned to one of three categories of association: no visible interaction, loosely associated, or tightly associated. The likelihood of scad being loosely or tightly associated with sharks was significantly higher in the presence of scad mesopredators, suggesting that sharks provide a predation refuge for scad. This behaviorally-mediated indirect interaction has important implications for trophic energy transfer and mesopredator control on hard bottoms, as scad are one of the most abundant planktivorous fish on hard bottoms in the western Atlantic Ocean. Although we were not able to provide statistical evidence that sand tiger sharks also benefit from this association behavior, we have clear video evidence that round scad association conceals and attracts mesopredators, enhancing predation opportunities for sand tiger sharks. These interactions potentially yield additional trophic consequences to this unique association and highlight the value of exploring behaviorally-mediated interactions in marine communities.
