Two model piles with outer diameter D = 50 mm are loaded laterally at 100×g in a large-beam geotechnical centrifuge. The normal strains on both the tensile and compressive sides are measured using fibre Bragg gratings. An incremental method is introduced to define the pivot point. The testing and analytical program enables the effect of the embedding depth and load eccentricity to be quantified. The key findings are as follows. 1) The piles generate asymmetric tensile and compressive strains during bending, and the tension-compression asymmetry becomes more pronounced at the pile toe and for shorter piles. 2) The piles transition from flexure to rotation as the embedding depth is decreased from 9D to 3D, where the uniqueness of the ground-level rotation and deflection (θg–yg) relationship disappears. 3) The reaction and deflection (P–y) relationship flattens with increasing embedding depth but seems independent of the load eccentricity.

Abstract We hypothesized that the contact area of the articular surface of the wrist joint could be evaluated using a custom-designed analytical program. The aim of the study was to compare the articular contact area of the wrist joint before and after radial shortening osteotomy for Kienböck disease. Nine wrists of 9 patients underwent radial shortening osteotomy for Kienböck disease. Computed tomography (CT) images of the wrist joint were reconstructed using a 3D reconstruction software package. Radioscaphoid and radiolunate joint contact areas and translation of the joint contact area from preoperative to postoperative were calculated using customized software. All patients reported a marked reduction of wrist pain at the 12-month follow-up. The contact area was altered following radial shortening, and the center of the contact area was translated radially and dorsally postoperatively. CT-based analysis revealed that the center of the contact area translated radially following radial shortening.

Nanoscale pore structure characteristics and their main controlling factors are key elements affecting the gas storage capacity, permeability, and the accumulation mechanism of shale. A multidisciplinary analytical program was applied to quantify the pore structure of all sizes of Xiamaling shale from Zhangjiakou, Hebei. The result implies that Mercury injection porosimetry (MIP) and low-pressure N2 curves of the samples can be divided into three and four types, respectively, reflecting different connectivity performances. The maximum CO2 adsorbing capacity increases with increasing total organic carbon (TOC) content, pore volume (PV), and surface area (SA) of the micropores are distributed in a three-peak type. The full-scale pore structure distribution characteristics reveal the coexistence of multiple peaks with multiple dominant scales and bi-peak forms with mesopores and micropores. The porosity positively correlates with the TOC and quartz content, but negatively correlates with clay mineral content. Organic matter (OM) is the main contributor to micropore and mesopore development. Smectite and illite/smectite (I/S) assist the development of the PV and SA of pores with different size. Illite promotes the development of the nanoscale PV, but is detrimental to the development of the SA. Thermal maturity controls the evolution of pores with different size, and the evolution model for the TOC-normalized PVs of different diameter scales is established. Residual hydrocarbon is mainly accumulated in micropores sized 0.3 to 1.0 nm and mesopores sized 40 nm, 2 nm and less than 10 nm. Since the samples were extracted, the pore space occupied by residual hydrocarbon was released, resulting in a remarkable increase in PV and SA.

Due to the influence of Mikhail Bakhtin on the Western anthropology of the last decades, researchers focused their attention on polyphony and the dialogic bases of social life that resulted in a neglect of monologic speech forms and practices. Meanwhile, in many political and religious cultures, monologic genres attribute to some value; the authors of the reviewed collection of articles suggest not to ignore this fact. In the outlined studies based on observations in various ethnographic contexts, the monologue is seen as a special language ideology, a category of social imagination, a speech genre, and a metaphor. The book also aims to recall, once again, the dialogic dimension of monologic practices and connect them to other relevant anthropological concepts and theories. This project should be recognized as successful and unique in its design, but it seems that the authors are inspired by Bakhtin’s language and see in it a significant opportunity to reflect on the usual anthropological problems of social control, resistance, community formations in new terms rather than continuing Bakhtin’s work and fitting into his analytical program.

Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC) is a prefabricated novel lightweight high-performance composite material that can be used as a load-bearing or non-load-bearing component of prefabricated buildings. Making TRC with Ultra-High-Strength Concrete (UHSC) (≥100 MPa) can be considered as a potential improvement method to further enhance its properties. This paper investigated the performance of Ultra-High-Strength Textile Reinforced Concrete (UHSTRC) under flexural loading. A detailed experimental program was conducted to investigate the behavior of UHSC on TRC. In the experimental program, a sudden drop in load was observed when the first crack appeared in the UHSTRC. A detailed analytical program was developed to describe and understand such behavior of UHSTRC found in experiments. The analytical program was found to be in good agreement with the experimental results and it was used to carry out an extensive parametric study covering the effects of the number of textile layers, textile material, textile mesh density, and UHSTRC thickness on the performance of UHSTRC. Using a high number of textile layers in thin UHSTRC was found to be more effective than using high-thickness UHSTRC. The high modulus textile layers effectively increase the performance of UHSTRC.

An analytical program based on the headspace solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) method combined with gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was developed to extract and analysis profiling of volatiles from pineapple peel wine. In total, 57 volatile compounds were detected on the basis of the MS information and RI, including 25 esters, 9 alcohols, 8 acids, 7 phenolic compounds, 6 aldehydes and ketones,1 terpene and 1 lactone, respectively. The types of esters are the most in various aroma substances, and the content of alcohols is the largest. Phenethyl alcohol, 3-methyl-1-butano, 2-methyl-1- butano, 2,3-Butanediol and 2-Methoxy-4-vinylphenol were the major constituents.

The latest trends of viewers` participation in producing an analytical product on the example of ZIK TV channel are considered. The objective of the study is to identify and to describe the latest trends in producing the broadcaster`s analytical programs; to identify which techniques of interaction with the audience are used by ZIK TV channel, to determine their strengths and weaknesses, and to suggest the ways of more effective interactions. The article identifies the viewer’s place in producing the television analytical product with the latest trends in increasing audience interaction. Such research methods as documentation analysis, observation, compara-tive, thematic and content analysis, synthesis and traduction have been applied. It is determined whether the viewer influences on producing the program at its various stages and in which exactly: from the idea to its broadcast, as well as selection of issues, topics, chro-nology, timekeeping, selection of presenter and experts. The study helps to find out how the viewer influences on producing the analytical television programs, to identify the trends in de-velopment of interactivity in television analytics, and to create a basis for the new researches. Based on the program «Vox Populi» on ZIK, as well as the results of the study and its conclu-sions, we have formulated the recommendations for the audience participation in producing the analytical program as well as transformation of editorial functions determined by increasing the level of viewer’s interactivity.
