Cottage Industry in Malaysia contributes key economic revenues for the village population. It is mainly small-scaled operations, using local resources and traditional skills with very low investments but fast returns. However, the industry may not be flourishing currently due to the lack of modern technology, facilities and knowledge transfer in place. Aim of this study is to determine the CI's current positions, challenges, and gaps in the state of Perak. This study was carried out via a self-administered structured questionnaire that equally distributed throughout the Perak State (North Perak, Central Perak and South Perak) involving 300 respondents. The study shows that a community's socioeconomic development and CI sector are influenced by a variety of factors. It is due to both internal and external causes, such as interest and self-motivation, as well as the positions of different organisations, as well as family and community support.

Abstract Introduction Self-medication is a common practice these days and is influenced by many factors, such as education, family, society, availability of medications and exposure to advertisements. This practice should be done responsibly for relief and treatment of brief and non-serious health conditions. Its irresponsible use can create risks to the individual’s health. Objectives This work aims to evaluate the knowledge about self-medication on higher education students, and on a village population located at the interior of the Portugal central region, in order to verify if health education and school level influence the behaviours how self-medication is done. Methodology An observational study was carried out at the Coimbra Health School (ESTeSC), and at a Pharmacy in a rural village, with a questionnaire done between March and May 2019. In this study 430 individuals contributed, of which 223 were enrolled in ESTeSC and 207 were Pharmacy’s customers. Results At the sample, female students (88.8%) predominated, with an average age of 20 years old. From the results collected at the Pharmacy’s customers, female individuals predominated (65.7%). From the overall, 75.8% indicated that they self-medicated in the last 6 months (170 individuals from ESTeSC and 156 from pharmacy) mainly for Flu/Cold symptoms (38.8%). Analgesics and antipyretics predominates self-medication with 36.3% and 41.06% (ESTeSC and Pharmacy, respectively). They further stated that self-medication is acceptable in some circumstances. Conclusion We can conclude that regarding to self-medication practice, individuals increasingly look out to treat their symptoms without seeking medical advice, as it is faster and cheaper. Therefore, pharmacy professionals must educate population about benefits and risks of self-medication. These professionals have an important role at the self-medication risks prevention, sharing information, therapeutic guidance and population education.

Background The COVID-19 pandemic is creating significant challenges for healthcare infrastructure for countries of all development and resource levels. Low-and-middle resource countries face even larger challenges, as their resources are stretched and often insufficient under normal circumstances. A village in the Papuan highlands of Indonesia; small, isolated, accessed only by small plane or trekking has experienced an outbreak typical of COVID-19. Methodology/Principal Findings This description was compiled from patient care records by lay healthcare workers in M20 (a pseudonym) during and after an outbreak and from medical doctors responding to online requests for help. We assume that, for reasons given, the outbreak that has been described was COVID-19. The dense social structure of the village resulted in a rapid infection of 90-95% of the population. Physical distancing and isolation measures were used, but probably implemented suboptimal and too late, and their effect on the illness course was unclear. The relatively young population, with a majority of women, probably influenced the impact of the epidemic, resulting in only two deaths so far. Conclusions/Significance This outbreak pattern of suspected SARS-CoV-2 in a village in the highlands of Papua (Indonesia) presents a unique report of the infection of an entire village population over five weeks. The age distribution, common in Papuan highland villages may have reduced case fatality rate (CFR) in this context and that might be the case in similar remote areas since survival to old age is already very limited and CFR among younger people is lower.

The W/S test under neutrosophic statistics is proposed in this paper. The Monte Carlo simulation under the neutrosophic statistical interval method is proposed and applied to study the sensitivity of various neutrosophic statistical distributions. The power of test curves for neutrosophic distributions is presented. The efficiency of the proposed W/S test under neutrosophic statistics is compared with that of the W/S test under classical statistics. The proposed test is explained with the aid of an example.

The present research featured a collection of cross pendants, obtained in the process of archeological excavations in the village of Krivoshchyokovo. The village was situated on the left bank of the Ob river on the territory of the modern Novosibirsk. The archeological site included a fragment of the foundation of Nikolskaya church (1881) and a Christian necropolis of 384 graves. The excavations yielded a substantial staurographic collection, as rich as the collections of the Ilimsk fortress, Irkutsk churches, or the city of Omsk. The research objective was to structure the information about the Krivoshchyokovo collection of cross pendants. The collection consists of 270 artifacts dated XVIII – late XIX centuries. The items were classified according to shape, semantics, and epigraphic observations. The classification was based on the typology developed by V. I. Molodin for the collection of Ilimsk fortress. The collection was divided into six types of crosses, typical of similar collections of modern time artifacts found in Western and Eastern Siberia. The Krivoshchyokovo collection appeared to contain some unique items, which have no iconographic analogies but are similar in shape. As a result, the typology introduced by the present article proved wider than the typology it was based on. In addition, the author discovered two new types of cross pendants. The fact that one of them may be related to Catholic cross pendants revealed a certain confessional diversity of the local village population.
