Religion functions are to build brotherhood, yet religions can also be a source of
conflict. The rejection of Piodalan Ritual carried out by Maha Lingga Padma Buwana
Community by a number of Mangir Lor Sub-village residents, is a socio-religious conflict. The research aims to find out and explain why there is the rejection of Piodalan Ritual, and how the government together with the community resolve the conflict. The research uses a case study approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observations, documentation, and triangulations. Primary data sources are from structural officials of government and cultural leaders of the community. Secondary data sources are from documents, reference books, and historical records. Analysis of qualitative data in interactive and continuous manners includes data reductions, data presentations, and conclusions. The result shows that the conflict between Mangir residents and Mahalingga Padma Buwana Community is the lack of communication and different perceptions regarding the Piodalan Ritual. The government and the community resolve the conflict by utilizing the local wisdom values, rembuk desa (deliberation), rukun (harmony), and ngajeni (respect).

Abstract Extragalactic astronomy and stellar astrophysics are intrinsically related. In fact, the determination of important galaxy properties such as stellar masses, star formation histories or chemical abundances relies on the ability to model their stellar populations. One important ingredient of these models are stellar libraries. Empirical libraries must have a good coverage of Teff, [Z/H], and surface gravity, and have these parameters reliably determined. MILES is one of the most widely used empirical libraries. Here we present an extension of this library with 205 new stars especially selected to cover important regions of the parameter space, including metal poor stars down to [Fe/H] ∼ −1.0. We describe the observations and data reductions as well as a new determination of the stellar parameters, including [α/Fe] ratio. The new MILES library contains 1070 stars with homogeneous and reliable determination of [Fe/H], Teff, log g and [α/Fe] ratio.

Independent tests aiming to constrain the value of the cosmological constant Λ are usually difficult because of its extreme smallness ( Λ ≃ 1 × 10 - 52 m - 2 , or 2 . 89 × 10 - 122 in Planck units ) . Bounds on it from Solar System orbital motions determined with spacecraft tracking are currently at the ≃ 10 - 43 – 10 - 44 m - 2 ( 5 – 1 × 10 - 113 in Planck units ) level, but they may turn out to be optimistic since Λ has not yet been explicitly modeled in the planetary data reductions. Accurate ( σ τ p ≃ 1 – 10 μ s ) timing of expected pulsars orbiting the Black Hole at the Galactic Center, preferably along highly eccentric and wide orbits, might, at least in principle, improve the planetary constraints by several orders of magnitude. By looking at the average time shift per orbit Δ δ τ ¯ p Λ , an S2-like orbital configuration with e = 0 . 8839 , P b = 16 yr would permit a preliminarily upper bound of the order of Λ ≲ 9 × 10 - 47 m - 2 ≲ 2 × 10 - 116 in Planck units if only σ τ p were to be considered. Our results can be easily extended to modified models of gravity using Λ -type parameters.

Aims.Ground-based observations at thermal infrared wavelengths suffer from large background radiation due to the sky, telescope and warm surfaces in the instrument. This significantly limits the sensitivity of ground-based observations at wavelengths longer than ~3 μm. The main purpose of this work is to analyse this background emission in infrared high-contrast imaging data as illustrative of the problem, show how it can be modelled and subtracted and demonstrate that it can improve the detection of faint sources, such as exoplanets. Methods. We used principal component analysis (PCA) to model and subtract the thermal background emission in three archival high-contrast angular differential imaging datasets in the M′ and L′ filter. We used an M′ dataset of β Pic to describe in detail how the algorithm works and explain how it can be applied. The results of the background subtraction are compared to the results from a conventional mean background subtraction scheme applied to the same dataset. Finally, both methods for background subtraction are compared by performing complete data reductions. We analysed the results from the M′ dataset of HD 100546 only qualitatively. For the M′ band dataset of β Pic and the L′ band dataset of HD 169142, which was obtained with an angular groove phase mask vortex vector coronagraph, we also calculated and analysed the achieved signal-to-noise ratio (S/N). Results. We show that applying PCA is an effective way to remove spatially and temporarily varying thermal background emission down to close to the background limit. The procedure also proves to be very successful at reconstructing the background that is hidden behind the point spread function. In the complete data reductions, we find at least qualitative improvements for HD 100546 and HD 169142, however, we fail to find a significant increase in S/N of β Pic b. We discuss these findings and argue that in particular datasets with strongly varying observing conditions or infrequently sampled sky background will benefit from the new approach.

The aim of this research is to find out how does the public relations may involved in the security and safety crisis management of terrorism threat in I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport of Denpasar, and how it may affect the image of the airport itself. Several informants were being interviewed and as much as 116 repondents gave their answers related to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport of Denpasar’s image. This research use descriptive qualitative data analysis technique by collected the data, reductions, presented the results, and draw a conclusion. This research also use the triangulation data technique to ensure the informations given by the informants were valid. The results shown that security and safety crisis management in I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport of Denpasar has twice security check point, using the recent technology, corporate with the authorities, and do the silent investigation. The roles of public relations itself are planning the terrorism encounters training programme, make a positive image of the airport, and build communications during and after the crisis. I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport of Denpasar has a good image of security based on the result of the questioners. There was several issues in the applications of terrorism encounters in the airport such as, some of the check in counter agents didn’t ask the security questions to the passenger and the x-ray officer didn’t check the luggage thoroughly that caused Qatar Airways flight had to return to base in 2015.

Enhanced magnetic data reductions via the use of various forms of filters were employed for basement classification in parts of Ekiti State. The data reductions and enhancement involve: reduction to equator (RTE), regional and residual, automatic gain control (AGC), downward continuation, upward continuations (1, 2, and 3 km), analytic signal (AS) and horizontal gradient (HG) to map and delineate basement rocks and structures, while surface relief and spectral plot were used to determine depth to top of magnetic sources. The images revealed that the study area is characterized by different lithologies. The rocks evinced lineaments and faults trending NE-SW (G–G’, H–H’, J–J’, K–K’), NNE-SSW, E-W (minor) and approximately N-S, while the dykes are in NW-SE, NNW-SSW directions. The analytic signal (AS) and horizontal gradient (HG) revealed high amplitude reversed Z-like shape as migmatite rocks, differentiating them from the two flanks with low amplitude signals as schist and quartzite schist of Ijero and Aramoko and the granitic intrusive within these migmatised rocks around Ijan, Gbonyin and Ise/Otun. The shaded relief and the spectral plot showed that the total depth to top of magnetic sources ranged from 20m to 1.8km for shallower and deeper sources respectively.

Forward amplitude analyses constitute an important approach in the investigation of the energy dependence of the total hadronic cross-section [Formula: see text] and the [Formula: see text] parameter. The standard picture indicates for [Formula: see text] a leading log-squared dependence at the highest c.m. energies, in accordance with the Froissart–Lukaszuk–Martin bound and as predicted by the COMPETE Collaboration in 2002. Beyond this log-squared (L2) leading dependence, other amplitude analyses have considered a log-raised-to-gamma form [Formula: see text], with [Formula: see text] as a real free fit parameter. In this case, analytic connections with [Formula: see text] can be obtained either through dispersion relations (derivative forms), or asymptotic uniqueness (Phragmén–Lindelöff theorems). In this work, we present a detailed discussion on the similarities and mainly the differences between the Derivative Dispersion Relation (DDR) and Asymptotic Uniqueness (AU) approaches and results, with focus on the [Formula: see text] and L2 leading terms. We also develop new Regge–Gribov fits with updated dataset on [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] from [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] scattering, including all available data in the region 5 GeV–8 TeV. The recent tension between the TOTEM and ATLAS results at 7 TeV and mainly at 8 TeV is discussed and considered in the data reductions. Our main conclusions are the following: (1) all fit results present agreement with the experimental data analyzed and the goodness-of-fit is slightly better in case of the DDR approach; (2) by considering only the TOTEM data at the LHC region, the fits with L[Formula: see text] indicate [Formula: see text] (AU approach) and [Formula: see text] (DDR approach); (3) by including the ATLAS data the fits provide [Formula: see text] (AU) and [Formula: see text] (DDR); (4) in the formal and practical contexts, the DDR approach is more adequate for the energy interval investigated than the AU approach. A pedagogical and detailed review on the analytic results for [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] from the Regge–Gribov, DDR and AU approaches is presented. Formal and practical aspects related to forward amplitude analyses are also critically discussed.
