Background: The Marie-Skłodowska-Curie Actions’ (MSCA) Innovative Training Network (ITN) is a doctoral training programme jointly implemented by academic institutions and industries from countries across Europe and beyond. To our knowledge no study has examined the experience of students participating in MSCA-ITNs. This study aims to evaluate and report MSCA-ITN Early Stage Researcher (ESR) experiences. Methods: The Innovative Training Network - Evaluation Questionnaire (ITN-EQ) was developed to assess supervision, training, collaborations and experiences of ESRs and forwarded to two tinnitus-related ITNs and seven ITNs of other disciplines. Results: Key advantages identified included better career prospects, multidisciplinary research opportunities/collaborations, international exposure, personal/professional development, plus generous salaries and research budgets. However, lack of a common EU framework resulted in the experience being largely dependent on the host institution, country and supervisor. Moreover, managing the dual requirements of ITNs and host institutions while completing a three-year PhD seemed challenging for most ESRs. ESR involvement in workshop and training school planning was desirable. More than 80% of ESRs rated the overall ITN experience favourably and 98.3% would recommend the same to prospective PhD students. Conclusions: This report could provide valuable insights in planning and management of future ITNs and could assist prospective students in their decision of joining an ITN for their PhD.

Teachers play an important role in bridging the gap between school and home. The success of pupils is defined by their relationship to the educational process. Parent participation can improve the conduct, participation, and accomplishment of pupils. School and community partnerships can also serve to enhance, support, and even transform learners and individual partners to increase the quality, resources efficiency and goal alignment of the program.  In this case, Republic Act No. 9155, school leaders should have authority, accountability, and responsibility in the school and community. The purpose of this descriptive study was to evaluate the roles of homeroom advisers in school-family involvement. The study polled 375 parents in grade 12 from a selected Senior High School in Manila's District VI. Its specific goal was to investigate the extent to which homeroom advisers play a role in school-family engagement as perceived by parent respondents for families to participate in school planning, leadership, and volunteering. The overall mean result of the evaluation on the degree to which homeroom advisers influence school-family engagement is involved.  Among the indicators of respondent's assessment on the extent of Homeroom Advisers' Role on school-family involvement, the highest is Information to families to assist their children's learning, and the lowest indicator is Opportunities for families in school planning, leadership, and volunteer activities. There is a recommendation of the study that the homeroom adviser's manual should indicate the involvement of parents in school, planning, leadership and voluntary activities to improve their commitment to high-quality education.

This article, which I intend to be one of a series, will provide analysisofmajor issues and problems arising out of attempts to implement Islamiceducational alternatives to American public schooling. The discussionbegins by offering a brief overview of the current dilemma-atriumvirate of historical, theoretical and practical enigmasconfrontingMuslim schoolmen. A primary question that is common toMuslim-American school planners is scrutinized through a sub-setanalysis focussing on some relevant and critical concerns to Muslimeducators. From this starting point, future installments in this serieswill look at practical cases that are representative of contemporaryefforts in alternative Muslim school planning, design and implementation.Where We areConservative estimates of the number of Muslims in North Americause one million as an approximate figure, two-thirds of whom reside in ornear the major urban areas of the United States. Within this multiethnicpopulation-800,000 being immigrants, the remainder a rapidlygrowing number of indigenous converts-there is a strong culturalcommonality and identity: It is Islam. Islam is a comprehensive code oflife that is expressed in the cultural, economic and social organization of

The shrinking populations of many regions in Portugal have led to a debate on the criteria which should guide the restructuring of public services at the local scale, and namely how to balance raising per capita costs with guaranteeing equity in accessibility. This article contributes to this debate by analyzing the spatial distribution of primary schools in the municipality of Vagos. It is based on a linear programming approach to optimize the resources needed for the operation and installation of school facilities and the level of accessibility that is provided. The simulated configurations are used as benchmarks for the actual spatial distribution of schools, identifying how it could be made more efficient or equitable and the criteria which have been prioritized in recent school planning policies. This allowed to conclude that, in the analyzed context, changes to the spatial distribution of schools have been made with significant equity concerns and that, while it would be possible to decrease costs through further consolidation, this would pose significant equity challenges.
