Contexts of Development: Research Methods

Several research methods have been developed with an aim to uncover the underlying cognitive andneural mechanisms behind child language acquisition. While these methods continue to generatepromising empirical evidence, language researchers need to carefully examine the evidential valueand limitations of findings that were derived from these methods before building on them. Similarly,language practitioners (e.g., speech-language pathologists/therapists, teachers) need to be aware thatwhile these methods may form or resemble the foundations of language assessment and interventionpractices (Seiger-Gardner & Almodovar, 2017; Deevy, 2017), no single paradigm cancomprehensively account for the multifaceted nature of “typical” and “atypical” languagedevelopment that we see in real-world settings, especially in multilingual contexts. If such is the case,how can we utilise the evidence that these methods generate in practical and clinical settings? Toanswer this question, this paper reviews and evaluates select language acquisition research methodsbased on the following criteria: (1) ecological validity of stimuli, (2) sensitivity of cognitive-linguisticmeasure, (3) suitability of comparison groups, (4) procedural suitability, (5) precision of responseclassification, (6) communicative sense (Ambridge & Rowland, 2013), and (7) practical implications(e.g., evidential value for bi/multilingual populations and in practitioner settings).

Saat ini sedang berkembang pencatatan waktu otomatis yang dijual oleh beberapa perusahan perlatan olahraga ternama seperti. Namun sayangnya, harga perangkat tersebut sangatlah mahal, dan membuat setiap pelatih ataupun praktisi olahraga terkendala untuk mendapatkannya. Karena fakta dan permasalahan tersebut, maka penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan prototipe sistem pencatatan waktu untuk pengukuran kecepatan secara otomatis pada sprint 60-meter, dengan menggunakan perangkat sederhana dengan harga yang murah, namun memiliki tingkat presisi dan akurasi yang baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian research and development, dimana dalam proses pengembangan dan pembuatan pencatatan waktu otomatis, penelitian ini mengambil contoh dari timing gate yang sudah divalidasi sebelumnya. Dalam penelitian ini, kami juga sudah melakukan uji coba kepada 12 atlet sprinter (tinggi badan 172.8 ± 9.31, berat badan 61.05 ± 6.90, BMI 20.38 ± 0.87) terkait kegunaan alat tersebut. Rata-rata kecepatan lari seluruh subjek pada pos 10-meter adalah 2.44 ± 0.23 detik, pos 20-meter adalah 3.71 ± 0.18 detik, pos 30-meter adalah 4.75 ± 0.22 detik, pos 40-meter adalah 6.39 ± 0.31 detik, 50-meter adalah 7.65 ± 0.41 detik, dan 60-meter adalah 9.12 ± 0.49 detik. Penelitian research and development terkait pengembangan pencatatan waktu otomatis dalam penelitian ini, menunjukkan bahwa pencatatan waktu otomatis dapat dibuat dengan harga ekonomis, dan dapat digunakan untuk mengukur kecepatan lari 60-meter. Development of track timer prototype system for automatic speed measurement on 60-meter sprints AbstractCurrently, automatic track timers are being sold by several well-known sports equipment companies. Unfortunately, the price of the device is very expensive and makes every coach or practitioner constrained to get it. Because of these facts and problems, this research was aimed to develop a prototype track timer system for automatic speed measurement on a 60-meter sprint, using a simple device at a low price, but has a good level of precision and accuracy. This study used to research and development research methods, wherein the process of developing and manufacturing automatic track timers, this study takes the example of a timing gate that has been validated before. In this study, we have also tested 12 sprinters (height 172.8 ± 9.31, weight 61.05 ± 6.90, BMI 20.38 ± 0.87) related to the use of the tools. The average running speed of all subjects on a 10-meter post is 2.44 ± 0.23 seconds, a 20-meter post is 3.71 ± 0.18 seconds, a 30-meter post is 4.75 ± 0.22 seconds, a 40-meter post is 6.39 ± 0.31 seconds, 50- The meter is 7.65 ± 0.41 seconds, and the 60-meter is 9.12 ± 0.49 seconds. This research shows that track timers can be made at economical prices, and can be used to measure 60-meter running speed.

This study aims to produce virtual laboratory thermodinamic that is valid, practical, and effective used in learning physics at SMAN 2 Palembang. Using development research methods the Hannafin and Peck model which consist of three phases, namely analysis phases, design phases, and development and implementation phases. At the development and implementation phases of evaluation method of Tessmer. Virtual laboratory are declared valid after an evaluation by an expert review. Virtual laboratory is then evaluated by students in the phase of one-to-one and small group and is declared very practical to use. The results of data analysis of Learning motivation of the students increase an average from 0,69 become 0,8,  learning outcomes of the students increase an averag from 43,13 become 76,13. The results of N-gain analysis show an 0,58 with a medium category. It was concluded that virtual laboratory thermodynamic it has been  developed  was proven to be valid, practical, and effective.This shows that virtual laboratory thermodynamic can be developed, practical to used, and increases motivation and student cognitive learning outcomes. Maintenance plan for the Arma Ubud Museum park. Arma Museum is one of the attractions in Bali thatdisplays art the Balinese culture.The Arma Museum also includes the environment or landscapes in thetourism activities through a park covering an area of 1.5 Ha, so that the Arma museum needs to maintain andpreserve the existing park through well-planned park maintenance. The purpose of this research is to plan anideal garden maintenance program for the Arma museum park. The research method based on its purpose isresearch and development research methods. The data needed in the study include several aspects relatedto the formation of the Arma musuem park, namely; biotic and abiotic aspects, social aspects, economicaspects, as well as aspects of the physical maintenance of the park, and aspects of organizing themaintenance of the park. Data analysis used in this study is an analysis of the application of theory andSWOT analysis. Based on the biotic and abiotic aspects, the social aspects, the economic aspects that have been identified indicate the Arma museum park has a lot of potential that needs to be maximized, maintained,and preserved, but the aspect of physical maintenance of the park and the organizing aspects of themaintenance of Arma Musuem park are still not maximized, the results of the application analysis The theoryfound a gap between ideal action and actual action in the field, through the identified gaps, the plan fororganizing effective park maintenance was organized by reducing existing gaps, while the SWOT Analysisproduced seven recommendations for strategic plan.

The importance of this research is to provide a new development in the form of the development of the addition of L-shaped pipe accessories added to the pipe in each tank from previous studies, Implementation of previous research has not been maximized when used in the kitchen of Makassar Tourism Polytechnic so that modifications are made, because it is not there is a difference in waste from each tank, furthermore this research uses research and development research methods with the development of existing models by not build the new construction from scratch, while the development of this research is to add pipes in the form (L) or L-shaped pipe attached to the tank number one (1) as the first tank for waste that is disposed of often containing foam soap, fat and heavy sediments, then in the second tank (2) which already does not contain foam, grease, and heavy sediments, reattach the L pipe to reduce the content is what if it still exists, then add sand material, and gravel, as the dissolved material Chemical Oxygen Demands (COD) dissolved in the third tank (3) before being channeled into the public sewer. This research recommends that before disposal of liquid waste from processed food, it is better to do the separation of the sediment contained in the liquid waste and then to develop it further to get more perfect results, especially the criteria for Wastewater Clarity.

E-learning is designed to develop the skills of audio, visual and kinetic student. The development of e-learning is done through a research and development (Research and Development) using a modified model of the development of the development model Borg & Gall. The procedure of the study include: needs analysis, setting goals, product development, revision, validation, product testing, revision and final products. Products made using Camtasia software 7. The research has reached the stage develop. The purpose is to make the development of e-learning products that can optimize the ability of audio, visual and kinetic student. Furthermore, e-learning products tested and validated by a validator (expert). Based on the results of the validation and testing of products in the lecture note that the e-learning products is valid and effective for Educational Research Methods lecture.
