There are many cases of email abuse that have the potential to harm others. This email abuse is commonly known as spam, which contains advertisements, phishing scams, and even malware. This study purpose to know the classification of email spam with ham using the KNN method as an effort to reduce the amount of spam. KNN can classify spam or ham in an email by checking it using a different K value approach. The results of the classification evaluation using confusion matrix resulted in the KNN method with a value of K = 1 having the highest accuracy value of 91.4%. From the results of the study, it is known that the optimization of the K value in KNN using frequency distribution clustering can produce high accuracy of 100%, while k-means clustering produces an accuracy of 99%. So based on the results of the existing accuracy values, the frequency distribution clustering and k-means clustering can be used to optimize the K-optimal value of the KNN in the classification of existing spam emails.

In this present work use a genetic algorithm for the selection of cutting conditions in milling operation such as cutting speed, feed and depth of cut to investigate the optimal value and the effects of it on the material removal rate and tool wear. The material selected for this work was Ti-6Al-4V Alloy using H13A carbide as a cutting tool. Two objective functions have been adopted gives minimum tool wear and maximum material removal rate that is simultaneously optimized. Finally, it does conclude from the results that the optimal value of cutting speed is (1992.601m/min), depth of cut is (1.55mm) and feed is (148.203mm/rev) for the present work.

The analysis of the concept, properties and features of heterogeneous redundancy in modern complex ergatic systems, including those included in the situation centers (SC). On the basis of the qualimetric paradigm, the generalized analytical model of quality and optimization of quality by private, group, summary and aggregated quality indicators is justified. Practical ways of realization of the model and methods of optimization of the objects which are a part of SC and them as a whole at the expense of reduction of structural, functional and other types of redundancy under the obligatory condition of non-reduction of the required value of quality are given. On the example of the generalized sampling theorem when choosing the optimal value of the sampling frequency of the real bandpass signal, the criticality and significant influence on the redundancy of data in their further processing in the SC is shown.

Anastomotic fistula is a dreadful complication of colon and rectal surgery that can put life into danger, being common after colorectal surgery. The preoperative lymphocyte neutrophil ratio (NLR) is known as a prognostic marker for colorectal cancer patients. The existence of a predictive marker of anastomotic fistula in colorectal cancer patients is not fully undestood, so we proposed to investigate the utility of preoperative NLR as a predictor of anastomotic fistula formation. This study the Neutrophils and lymphocytes were detected from periferic blood using flow citometry. We retrospectively evaluated 161 patients with colorectal cancer, who were treated curatively, in which at least one anastomosis was performed, comparing NLR values between patients who had fistula and those with normal healing, then comparing the group with low NLR, with the group with increased NLR, after finding the optimal value of NLR using the ROC curve.The optimal value of the NLR after establishing the cutoff value was 3.07. Between the low NLR group (n=134) and the high NLR group (n=27), were observed statistically significant differences in fistula (p [0.001) and death (p=0.001). The odds ratio for failure in the group with increased NLR was 10.37, which means that patients with NLR]3.54 have a chance of developing anastomotic fistula greater than 10.37 comparable to patients with lower NLR. We suggest the preoperative use of NLR can be used as a predictive marker of anastomotic fistula than can increase the quality of preoperative preparation and therefore the establishment of the optimal surgical technique that can lead to anastomotic fistula risk decrease.

Complex networks analysis (CNA) has attracted so much attention in the last few years. An interesting task in CNA complex network analysis is community detection. In this paper, we focus on Local Community Detection, which is the problem of detecting the community of a given node of interest in the whole network. Moreover, we study the problem of finding local communities of high density, known as α-quasi-cliques in graph theory (for high values of α in the interval ]0,1[). Unfortunately, the higher α is, the smaller the communities become. This led to the maximal α-quasi-clique community of a given node problem, which is, the problem of finding local communities that are α-quasi-cliques of maximal size. This problem is NP-hard, then, to approach the optimal solution, some heuristics exist. When α is high (>0.5) the diameter of a maximal α-quasi-clique is at most 2. Based on this property, we propose an algorithm to calculate an upper bound to approach the optimal solution. We evaluate our method in real networks and conclude that, in most cases, the bound is very accurate. Furthermore, for a real small network, the optimal value is exactly achieved in more than 80% of cases.

The synergy between electrochemical oxidation and adsorption on particle electrodes was investigated in three-dimensional (3D) systems for p-nitrosodimethylaniline (RNO) decolorization and pesticide removal. A comparison was made between granular activated carbon (GAC) and a novel synthesized nitrogen-doped graphene-based particle electrode (NCPE). Experiments on RNO decolorization show that the synergy parameter of the 3D-NCPE system was improved 3000 times compared to the studied 3D-GAC system. This was due to the specific nanostructure and composition of the NCPE material. Nitrogen-doped graphene triggered an oxygen reduction reaction, producing hydrogen peroxide that simultaneously catalyzed on iron sites of the NCPEs to hydroxyl radicals following the electro-Fenton (EF) process. Data showed that in the experimental setup used for the study, the applied cell voltage required for the optimal value of the synergy parameter could be lowered to 5V in the 3D-NCPEs process, which is significantly better than the 15–20 V needed for synergy to be found in the 3D-GAC process. Compared to previous studies with 3D-GAC, the removal of pesticides 2,6 dichlorobenzamide (BAM), 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxyaceticacid (MCPA), and methylchlorophenoxypropionic acid (MCPP) was also enhanced in the 3D-NCPE system.

A model of production funds acquisition, which includes two differential links of the zero order and two series-connected inertial links, is considered in a one-sector economy. Zero-order differential links correspond to the equations of the Ramsey model. These equations contain scalar bounded control, which determines the distribution of the available funds into two parts: investment and consumption. Two series-connected inertial links describe the dynamics of the changes in the volume of the actual production at the current production capacity. For the considered control system, the problem is posed to maximize the average consumption value over a given time interval. The properties of optimal control are analytically established using the Pontryagin maximum principle. The cases are highlighted when such control is a bang-bang, as well as the cases when, along with bang-bang (non-singular) portions, control can contain a singular arc. At the same time, concatenation of singular and non-singular portions is carried out using chattering. A bang-bang suboptimal control is presented, which is close to the optimal one according to the given quality criterion. A positional terminal control is proposed for the first approximation when a suboptimal control with a given deviation of the objective function from the optimal value is numerically found. The obtained results are confirmed by the corresponding numerical calculations.

AbstractWe optimize a silica-encapsulated silicon L3 photonic crystal cavity for ultra-high quality factor by means of a global optimization strategy, where the closest holes surrounding the cavity are varied to minimize out-of-plane losses. We find an optimal value of $$Q_c=4.33\times 10^7$$ Q c = 4.33 × 10 7 , which is predicted to be in the 2 million regime in presence of structural imperfections compatible with state-of-the-art silicon fabrication tolerances.

PV self-consumption can contribute positively to the spread of PV and, therefore, to the progress of renewable energies as a key element in a decarbonized energy model. However, the policies of each country regarding the promotion of this type of renewable technology is fundamental for their growth. Despite the high number of sunshine hours registered in Spain, self-consumption in this country has not been authorized until recently. In this new context, this work presents a systematic study of the profitability limits of a self-consumption PV installation under different conditions of installed peak power, orientation and inclination of the PV panels and level of obstruction of the installation. It was proved that, for the case of study (Córdoba, Spain), the maximum profitability was achieved for PV panels oriented to the south and with an inclination of 15° whereas the most unfavourable conditions are those of PV panels with an orientation and inclination of 180° and 90°, respectively. Furthermore, when the level of obstruction increases the maximum of the Net Present Value of self-consumptions PV installations decreases and this optimal value is achieved for installations with lower power. Finally, empirical adjustment equations have been developed to estimate the profitability parameters of self-consumptions PV installations as a function of their design variables.
