AbstractThe aim of this work is to determine how personal intrinsic factors towards a design problem are related to novelty and circularity. A deeper understanding of this relationship will be a valuable aid when it comes to making an adequate selection of design teams. The factors studied are the level of the designer's motivation, relevance, knowledge and affinity with regard to the design problem. To this end, a study was conducted with 35 novice designers, organised in groups of between two and five members. Each group had to propose a conceptual solution to two different design problems. Novelty was assessed using the SAPPhIRE causality model (which stands for State–Action–Part–Phenomenon–Input–oRgan–Effect) and the Circular Economy Toolkit was applied to measure circularity. The results show that as motivation, level of knowledge, perception of relevance and affinity for the problem increase, the solution displays greater novelty and less circularity, although for circularity, the difference is not statistically significant.

This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and behavior of the Sundanese Muslim community in Bandung about halal food and beverage products. The method used in this research is descriptive and verifikatif. The data were collected using questionnaires, completed with observation. Data analysis using validity test, reliability test, linear regression, correlation, hypothesis test, and coefficient of determination. The correlation test result is 0.376, which shows that it is in the interval 0.20 - 0.399, and the coefficient of determination test shows the influence of 0.142. This means that the influence of knowledge level on the behavior of Muslim sunda society is 14.2%. The difference of 85.8% is the influence of other factors not examined. This figure indicates that the increased knowledge of respondents on halal products will increase the behavior in consuming halal products.

Abstract – Engineering design is a decision making process that needs a good perception of the design problem to be solved. Design problems are usually solved in a team. Teams need the existence of a good design problem perception to create design solutions. This study provides an approach for elaborating a descriptive model to describe how the perception process works within a design team. This study is going to propose an approach for integrating a theoretical model of design creativity with team mental models, so they can be used for elaborating the descriptive model of perception in design teams. The NSERC Chair in Aerospace Design Engineering (NCADE) at Concordia University holds a capstone project which will be considered to be used as a test bed for validating proposed model through experimental analysis. Proposed experiments and further research are introduced at the end of paper.

Menopause is the permanent cessation of menstruation in a woman who generally occurs at age 50-51 years. Causes that trigger menopause is a disease such as tuberculosis of the ovary or ovarian cancer, lifestyle is wrong, the shift in eating patterns in some women, lazy to exercise, excessive exercise. This study is a correlational design approach croos sectional study aimed to examine the relationship between knowledge with maternal attitude toward menopause. The study population was 50 mothers aged 40-45 years, using total sampling method. Measuring instrument used was a questionnaire. From the results of the data collection characteristics of the respondents found the majority of respondents was 40 years old (46%), education level of the majority of high school educated are (46%), work as respondents (66%) did not work, whereas for information as much (66%) of respondents had get information and most received resources from books / magazines as many (28%). The analysis is Univariate and Bivariate. In this study as many (66%) of respondents have a high knowledge level (median = 8) and as many (58%) of mothers have a positive attitude (median = 45). The results of this study indicate that there is no relationship between the level of knowledge of the mother's attitude toward menopause where ρ = 0:41> α = 0.05. This means that women who have high knowledge about menopause does not affect the mother's attitude to be positive as well as negative because of the difference between high and low knowledge that has positive and negative attitudes not too siqnifikan.

A team with the right characteristics can exceed the sum of their individual efforts. However, a team having the wrong characteristics may perform more poorly than the sum of its individuals. Therefore, it is crucial that teams are assembled and managed properly in order to maximize performance. This work examines how the properties of a design problem can be used to select the best values for team characteristics. Two characteristics are considered: team size and interaction frequency. A computational model of design teams that has been shown to effectively emulate human team behavior is leveraged to pinpoint optimized team characteristics for solving a variety of fluid and structural design problems. The nature of each design problem is characterized with respect to local and global behavior of the design space, alignment between objective functions, and the resources allotted for solving the problem. Regression analysis is used to create equations for predicting optimized team characteristics based on problem properties. These equations, which enable the informed design of design teams based on those characteristics, describe statistically significant relationships and are found to have useful levels of accuracy. Further analysis reveals insights about how the properties of a design problem can influence a team’s search for solutions.

ABSTRACT  The uses of repellent are an effort to prevent mosquito bites in the community. Therefore, a study was conducted to find out the difference in the level of knowledge with the use of repellent/liniment on people in areas that received the Filariasis Mass Prevention Drug Program. This research is the result of secondary data analysis from multicenter research "Filariasis elimination evaluation study" in 2017 conducted in Subang district, West Java Province. Total respondents surveyed were 555 people. The respondents were the people who received mass drug administration. The data collected respondent’s knowledge about the cause and transmitter of filariasis diseases and the repellent use activity of respondents. This study used chi-square analysis to see the relationship between knowledge and the use of repellent in respondents. The results showed that a total of 307 (55.3%) respondents stated they were using liniment / repellent drugs; and 248 (44.7%) respondents did not use repellent. There is a difference in the level of knowledge of respondents with filariasis (p <0.05) between respondents who use repellent and those who do not. This study concludes that the higher respondents' knowledge, the greater their tendency to use repellent. Knowledge about the spread and causes of filariasis was related to the use of repellent in the community. Abstract The purpose of this work is to investigate the relationship between the disciplinary diversity of capstone design teams and perceptions of success and engineering design abilities. Capstone design programs are effective environments for students to collaborate with industry sponsors on authentic design problems. They provide students with the opportunity to hone their technical and professional skills, often in teams. Previous work has demonstrated that interdisciplinary teams outperform within-discipline teams on complex open-ended tasks, but struggle to communicate across disciplinary boundaries. They also report lower levels of team cohesion and satisfaction with final outcomes. The results of the mixed-methods study conducted with 58 capstone design teams for this paper indicate that team diversity may be inversely related to students’ beliefs in their abilities to construct a prototype. Preliminary qualitative analysis suggests that students tend to divide prototyping tasks based on disciplinary background and struggle to integrate design efforts for complex systems, particularly during later stage design.

A custom in-the-ear (ITE) hearing aid fitting was compared to two over-the-ear (OTE) hearing aid fittings for each of 9 subjects with mild to moderately severe hearing losses. Speech intelligibility via the three instruments was compared using the Speech Intelligibility Rating (SIR) test. The relationship between functional gain and coupler gain was compared for the ITE and the higher rated OTE instruments. The difference in input received at the microphone locations of the two types of hearing aids was measured for 10 different subjects and compared to the functional gain data. It was concluded that (a) for persons with mild to moderately severe hearing losses, appropriately adjusted custom ITE fittings typically yield speech intelligibility that is equal to the better OTE fitting identified in a comparative evaluation; and (b) gain prescriptions for ITE hearing aids should be adjusted to account for the high-frequency emphasis associated with in-the-concha microphone placement.
