Abstract We introduce and compute the generalized disconnection exponents$$\eta _\kappa (\beta )$$ η κ ( β ) which depend on $$\kappa \in (0,4]$$ κ ∈ ( 0 , 4 ] and another real parameter $$\beta $$ β , extending the Brownian disconnection exponents (corresponding to $$\kappa =8/3$$ κ = 8 / 3 ) computed by Lawler, Schramm and Werner (Acta Math 187(2):275–308, 2001; Acta Math 189(2):179–201, 2002) [conjectured by Duplantier and Kwon (Phys Rev Lett 61:2514–2517, 1988)]. For $$\kappa \in (8/3,4]$$ κ ∈ ( 8 / 3 , 4 ] , the generalized disconnection exponents have a physical interpretation in terms of planar Brownian loop-soups with intensity $$c\in (0,1]$$ c ∈ ( 0 , 1 ] , which allows us to obtain the first prediction of the dimension of multiple points on the cluster boundaries of these loop-soups. In particular, according to our prediction, the dimension of double points on the cluster boundaries is strictly positive for $$c\in (0,1)$$ c ∈ ( 0 , 1 ) and equal to zero for the critical intensity $$c=1$$ c = 1 , leading to an interesting open question of whether such points exist for the critical loop-soup. Our definition of the exponents is based on a certain general version of radial restriction measures that we construct and study. As an important tool, we introduce a new family of radial SLEs depending on $$\kappa $$ κ and two additional parameters $$\mu , \nu $$ μ , ν , that we call radial hypergeometric SLEs. This is a natural but substantial extension of the family of radial $$\hbox {SLE}_\kappa (\rho )s$$ SLE κ ( ρ ) s .

Abstract A feature-based product modeling system is introduced where the user can incrementally create and modify product families. Product family and feature descriptions are coded in a special definition language and can be easily added and modified by the user. The descriptions include dynamically maintained constraints. The definition language description of a new family can be automatically created on the basis of a recognized prototypical instance. A stored design history can be used for generating the geometry definition of the family.

In the summer of 1976, a mysterious epidemic of fatal respiratory disease in Philadelphia launched an intensive investigation that resulted in the definition of a new family of pathogenic bacteria, the Legionellaceae. In retrospect, members of the family had been isolated from clinical specimens as early as 1943. Unsolved epidemics of acute respiratory disease dating to the 1950s were subsequently attributed to the newly described pathogens. In the intervening years, the Legionellaceae have been firmly established as important causes of sporadic and epidemic respiratory disease. The sources of the infecting bacteria are environmental, and geographic variation in the frequency of infection has been documented. Airborne dissemination of bacteria from cooling towers and evaporative condensers has been responsible for some epidemics, but potable water systems are perhaps more important sources. The mode of transmission from drinking water is unclear. The Legionellaceae are gram-negative, facultative, intracellular pathogens. The resident alveolar macrophage, usually an effective antibacterial defense, is the primary site of growth. Cell-mediated immunity appears to be the most important immunological defense; the role of humoral immunity is less clear. Erythromycin remains the antibiotic of choice for therapy of infected patients, but identification and eradication of environmental sources are also essential for the control of infection.

The best interests of the child in the project of the Family Code – a semantic analysis of the concept ABSTRACT The aim of the article is a semantic analysis of the concept of the best interests of the child appearing in the draft of the new Family Code. The research material is a legal document, though it was analysed from an interdisciplinary perspective. The main research question was the following: what meanings constitute the content dominant of the best interests of the child concept, and which appear rarely, if there are any dilemmas, discrepancies, and critical points related to the concept of the best interests of the child. Six separate networks were created (equivalents, terms, associations, oppositions, descriptions of actions, and descriptions of actions regarding the best interests of the child), which, after being put in order created the semantic field of the concept of the best interests of the child. This way, the real meaning and clusters of associations related to the analysed concept were found. Each network is described separately. Based on the analysis –by using the semantic network – a detailed definition of the best interests of the child existing in the draft of the new Family Code was determined.

Virtual classes are class-valued attributes of objects.<br />Like virtual methods, virtual classes are defined in<br />an object’s class and may be redefined within subclasses.<br />They resemble inner classes, which are also<br />defined within a class, but virtual classes are accessed<br />through object instances, not as static components<br />of a class. When used as types, virtual classes depend<br />upon object identity – each object instance introduces<br />a new family of virtual class types. Virtual classes support large-scale program composition techniques,<br />including higher-order hierarchies and family<br />polymorphism. The original definition of virtual<br />classes in Beta left open the question of static type<br />safety, since some type errors were not caught until<br />runtime. Later the languages Caesar and gbeta have<br />used a more strict static analysis in order to ensure<br />static type safety. However, the existence of a sound,<br />statically typed model for virtual classes has been a<br />long-standing open question. This technical report<br />presents a virtual class calculus, vc, that captures<br />the essence of virtual classes in these full-fledged programming languages. Intensified anxiety responses and even symptoms of post-traumatic stress are commonly observed under quarantine conditions. In this study, the effects on fear, anxiety and wellbeing of the recent pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 were investigated in a sample of otherwise healthy Hungarians. Taking the family as a microsystem, differences in gender, age, family relationships and time spent in isolation were the main focus of this investigation. 346 parent-child dyads were examined; the children were 11-17 years of age. Standard psychological questionnaires (Perceived Stress Scale, WHO Wellbeing Index), and an open question test (the Metamorphosis test) were used, and the results analysed with the aid of basic statistical methods. Stress levels and wellbeing displayed a significant negative correlation with each other in both parents and children. Parental stress and levels of wellbeing had a weak but significant impact on the wellbeing of their children. Among the demographic variables examined, none of them was found to explain the wellbeing or stress level of parents. Natural catastrophes, such as pandemics, create a stressful social environment for parents, and therefore directly impact the psychological wellbeing of all family members.

Resuming published and own data, a revision of classification of Chaetognatha is presented. The family Sagittidae Claus & Grobben, 1905 is given a rank of subclass, Sagittiones, characterised, in particular, by the presence of two pairs of sac-like gelatinous structures or two pairs of fins. Besides the order Aphragmophora Tokioka, 1965, it contains the new order Biphragmosagittiformes ord. nov., which is a unique group of Chaetognatha with an unusual combination of morphological characters: the transverse muscles present in both the trunk and the tail sections of the body; the seminal vesicles simple, without internal complex compartments; the presence of two pairs of lateral fins. The only family assigned to the new order, Biphragmosagittidae fam. nov., contains two genera. Diagnoses of the two new genera, Biphragmosagitta gen. nov. (type species B. tarasovi sp. nov. and B. angusticephala sp. nov.) and Biphragmofastigata gen. nov. (type species B. fastigata sp. nov.), detailed descriptions and pictures of the three new species are presented.

The horseshoe crab Limulus polyphemus (Linnaeus, 1758) is a famous species, renowned as a ‘living fossil’ (Owen, 1873; Barthel, 1974; Kin and Błażejowski, 2014) for its apparently little-changed morphology for many millions of years. The genus Limulus Müller, 1785 was used by Leach (1819, p. 536) as the basis of a new family Limulidae and synonymized it with Polyphemus Lamarck, 1801 (Lamarck's proposed but later unaccepted replacement for Limulus, as discussed by Van der Hoeven, 1838, p. 8) and Xyphotheca Gronovius, 1764 (later changed to Xiphosura Gronovius, 1764, another junior synonym of Limulus). He also included the valid modern genus Tachypleus Leach, 1819 in the family. The primary authority of Leach (1819) is widely recognized in the neontological literature (e.g., Dunlop et al., 2012; Smith et al., 2017). It is also the authority recognized in the World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS Editorial Board, 2021).

AbstractThis paper considers the definition and the properties of the generalized natural transform on sets of generalized functions. Convolution products, convolution theorems, and spaces of Boehmians are described in a form of auxiliary results. The constructed spaces of Boehmians are achieved and fulfilled by pursuing a deep analysis on a set of delta sequences and axioms which have mitigated the construction of the generalized spaces. Such results are exploited in emphasizing the virtual definition of the generalized natural transform on the addressed sets of Boehmians. The constructed spaces, inspired from their general nature, generalize the space of integrable functions of Srivastava et al. (Acta Math. Sci. 35B:1386–1400, 2015) and, subsequently, the extended operator with its good qualitative behavior generalizes the classical natural transform. Various continuous embeddings of potential interests are introduced and discussed between the space of integrable functions and the space of integrable Boehmians. On another aspect as well, several characteristics of the extended operator and its inversion formula are discussed.

Hexokinases are a family of ubiquitous exose-phosphorylating enzymes that prime glucose for intracellular utilization. Hexokinase 2 (HK2) is the most active isozyme of the family, mainly expressed in insulin-sensitive tissues. HK2 induction in most neoplastic cells contributes to their metabolic rewiring towards aerobic glycolysis, and its genetic ablation inhibits malignant growth in mouse models. HK2 can dock to mitochondria, where it performs additional functions in autophagy regulation and cell death inhibition that are independent of its enzymatic activity. The recent definition of HK2 localization to contact points between mitochondria and endoplasmic reticulum called Mitochondria Associated Membranes (MAMs) has unveiled a novel HK2 role in regulating intracellular Ca2+ fluxes. Here, we propose that HK2 localization in MAMs of tumor cells is key in sustaining neoplastic progression, as it acts as an intersection node between metabolic and survival pathways. Disrupting these functions by targeting HK2 subcellular localization can constitute a promising anti-tumor strategy.
