AbstractIt is shown, that fitting parameters of a $$\bar{K}N$$ K ¯ N interaction model to different sets of experimental data can lead to physical conclusions which might provide a deeper insight into the physics of this multichannel system. The available experimental data are divided into three parts: the “classical” set consisting of the low-energy $$K^-p$$ K - p cross sections and the threshold branching ratios, the SIDDHARTA 1s level shift in kaonic hydrogen and the CLAS photoproduction data. We have fitted the parameters of the potential to different combinations of these data. We found, that the two poles corresponding to the $$I=0$$ I = 0 nuclear quasi-bound state $$(\Lambda (1405))$$ ( Λ ( 1405 ) ) and to the $$K^-p$$ K - p 1s atomic level seem to resist to their simultaneous reproduction at the right place, though a more or less satisfactory compromise can be achieved. Potentials with the $$\Lambda (1405)$$ Λ ( 1405 ) pole pinned down close to the PDG value fail to reproduce the classical two-body data with an acceptable accuracy. We also added comments on two papers criticizing the potential used in the fits.

The SRC/BM@N experiment was carried out in the 55th run of the Nuclotron using a liquid hydrogen target and a carbon beam with a kinetic energy of about 3.1 GeV/n. We propose to analyze the experimental data to search for a quasi-bound state of η-meson and nucleons in the reaction 12C+p → η(A-1)+X → π+p+(A-2). To achieve this goal, it is necessary to identify the residual nucleus (A-2) and the proton-pion pair formed from η-nuclei decay.

New isospin mixing [Formula: see text] potential directly reproducing 1s level shift of kaonic hydrogen atom and other experimental data was constructed. Two forms of the potential reproducing one- and two-pole structure of Λ(1405) resonance were used. Accurate K-p scattering length was calculated using the obtained potentials.

We present a chiral K¯N interaction model that has been developed and optimized in order to account for the experimental data of inelastic K¯N reaction channels that open at higher energies. In particular, we study the effect of the higher partial waves, which originate directly from the chiral Lagrangian, as they could supersede the role of high-spin resonances employed in earlier phenomenological models to describe meson-baryon cross sections in the 2 GeV region. We present a detailed derivation of the partial wave amplitudes that emerge from the chiral SU(3) meson-baryon Lagrangian up to the d-waves and next-to-leading order in the chiral expansion. We implement a nonperturbative unitarization in coupled channels and optimize the model parameters to a large pool of experimental data in the relevant energy range where these new contributions are expected to be important. The obtained results are encouraging. They indicate the ability of the chiral higher partial waves to extend the description of the scattering data to higher energies and to account for structures in the reaction cross-sections that cannot be accommodated by theoretical models limited to the s-waves.

A first-order four-body perturbation theory is developed to calculate both the differential and integral cross-sections for [Formula: see text]-shell charge exchange from multi-electron atomic targets to the [Formula: see text] bound state of the fast proton projectiles. The correct boundary conditions are incorporated in the formalism. The model is applied to the single electron capture process from carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, neon and argon atoms for which the experimental data are available. The results are compared with their corresponding experimental values and also with those obtained from three-body version of the theory. A comparison is also made between the present predicted cross-sections and those obtained from other theories. Comparisons show that the suggested approximation is in reasonable agreement with the experimental data and is compatible with the other theories.

The accuracy of the most recent recommended cross sections dataset for electron scattering from gaseous H2O (J. Phys. Chem. Ref. Data 2021, 50, 023103) is probed in a joint experimental and computational study. Simulations of the magnetically confined electron transport through a gas cell containing H2O for different beam energies (3, 10 and 70 eV) and pressures (2.5 to 20.0 mTorr) have been performed by using a specifically designed Monte Carlo code. The simulated results have been compared with the corresponding experimental data as well as with simulations performed with Geant4DNA. The comparison made between the experiment and simulation provides insight into possible improvement of the recommended dataset.

Limitations of action designate extent of time after an event, as set by statutes of limitations, within which legal action can be initiated by a party to a transaction. No event is actionable outside the designated time as same is rendered statute-barred. This study aims to provide an insight into application and significance of Limitations Act 1950 and Limitation Ordinance 1952 to Islamic banking matters in Malaysia as well as Shariah viewpoint on the issue of limitation of action. In conducting the study, a qualitative research methodology is employed where reported Islamic banking cases from 1983 to 2018 in Malaysia were reviewed and analysed to ascertain the application of those statutes of limitations to Islamic banking. Likewise, relevant provisions of the statutes as invoked in the cases were examined to determine possible legislative conflicts between the provisions and the rule of Islamic law in governing the right and limitation of action in Islamic banking cases under the law. The reviewed cases show the extent to which statutes of limitations were invoked in Malaysian courts in determining validity of Islamic banking matters. The limitation provisions so referred to are largely sections 6(1)(a) and 21(1) Limitations Act 1953 and section 19 Limitation Ordinance 1953, which do not conflict with Shariah viewpoint on the matter. This study will prove invaluable to financial institutions and their customers alike in promoting knowledge and creating awareness over actionable event in the course of their transactions.

We have applied the full-relativistic Dirac B-Spline R-matrix method to obtain cross sections for electron scattering from ytterbium atoms. The results are compared with those obtained from a semi-relativistic (Breit-Pauli) model-potential approach and the few available experimental data.

Abstract. This work measured $ \mathrm{d}\sigma/\mathrm{d}\Omega$dσ/dΩ for neutral kaon photoproduction reactions from threshold up to a c.m. energy of 1855MeV, focussing specifically on the $ \gamma p\rightarrow K^0\Sigma^+$γp→K0Σ+, $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0\Lambda$γn→K0Λ, and $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0 \Sigma^0$γn→K0Σ0 reactions. Our results for $ \gamma n\rightarrow K^0 \Sigma^0$γn→K0Σ0 are the first-ever measurements for that reaction. These data will provide insight into the properties of $ N^{\ast}$N* resonances and, in particular, will lead to an improved knowledge about those states that couple only weakly to the $ \pi N$πN channel. Integrated cross sections were extracted by fitting the differential cross sections for each reaction as a series of Legendre polynomials and our results are compared with prior experimental results and theoretical predictions.
