Multiple carpometacarpal dislocations with a simultaneous fracture of the hamate represent less than 1% of all injuries to the hand and wrist regions, with a scarcity of published cases. These injuries usually require a great force, and diagnosis can be missed or delayed because of the high likelihood of other severe concomitant injuries. We report a case of acute closed dislocation of the third through fifth carpometacarpal joints and an associated fracture of the hamate in a military paratrooper. The injury was caused by a wrong landing technique during parachuting. The patient was managed with primary surgical repair, and after a six-month follow-up, he has excellent functional results. The fact that both this clinical entity and the mechanism of injury are very unusual a high index of suspicion is needed, especially for orthopedic surgeons working in military hospitals. Additionally, given that there is a paucity of published cases and optional treatment is controversial, this study corroborates the superiority of surgical repair in a long-term basis.

I have already lived in three different theological climates, during three periods marked by quite different hopes and expectations for the future of humanity. I am not sure whether or not we are entering a fourth period, but the pattern of both commitments and hopes is less clear than it seemed to be in the recent past.Before 1930 and back into the late nineteenth century there was the period of the Social Gospel, which was a great force in the churches and which reflected the secular expectations of progress that were general at the time. I was part of this movement myself and to a large extent shared its hopes, though I never believed that progress was inevitable or irreversible.

The term 'Media' is derived from medium/ which means carrier or mode. Media denotes an item specifically designed to reach a large audience or viewers. At first the term was used with the advent of newspapers, magazines, radio, television etc. However, with inventions from time to time, the term broadened to social media to include webbased and mobile technologies which used to turn communication into interactive dialogue. Social media comprises primarily internet and mobile phone based tools for sharing and discussing information. It blends technology, telecommunications, and social interaction and provides a platform to communicate through words, pictures, films, and music. The original idea behind the creation of various media means was to entertain masses. One of major duties of media today is to inform the people about the latest happening around them and the world. It is also considered as the overseer of the political system. As the power of media is so extensive and huge, it can be used to educate people with very little cost and if it plays its role honestly, it can be used as a great force in building the nation. The Conference paper will delve into the various legal issues in context to social media and freedom of speech and expression.

Our article deals with the possibility of using shape memory material (SMA − Shape Memory Alloy) to create an actuator of the mechanical element. The biggest advantage of the SMA actuators compared to those made of conventional materials is that they have the ability to generate relatively great force, are of low weight and small size.

It is a commonplace of antebellum historiography that the numerous reforms of the age often bore an intimate connection with Protestant evangelicalism, and Charles Grandison Finney is often portrayed as a symbol of this link. In addition to endorsing such causes as antislavery and temperance, the great evangelist inspired numerous converts to work out their salvation through useful service, including reform; and the areas swept by his revivals provided fertile soil for every manner of ultraism. Both as theological innovator and religious activist, he seemed to epitomize a tide of perfectionist optimism surging with great force against institutional restraints.Yet there was a very cautious side to Finney. He seldom committed himself unreservedly to any cause other than revivalism and generally eschewed the most controversial approaches to reform. Viewing this aspect of his career, one scholar has recently argued that “the basic thrust of Finney's thought and activity was conservative, status conscious, and pessimistic about human nature.” Because of these two faces, the historian is tempted to fix on one or the other as the “real” Finney, but it is more profitable to probe his ambiguities than to mitigate them. An examination of Finney offers fruitful insight into nineteenth-century evangelicalism's explosive potential for reform and its equally powerful tendency to limit and contain that impulse.

In 2012, the politician Todd Akin caused a firestorm by suggesting, in the context of an argument about the moral permissibility of abortion, that some forms of rape were ‘legitimate’ (i.e., carried out with great force or violence). This seemed to imply that other forms of rape must not be legitimate (i.e., carried out with less force or violence). In response, several commentators pointed out that rape is a ‘heinous crime’ and that there are ‘no varying degrees of rape’. While the intention of these commentators was clear, I argue that they may – inadvertently – have played into the very stereotype of rape (implicitly) endorsed by Akin. Such a response, I claim, actually obscures a range of sexual harms, including some that may not rise to the level of being a crime. I also offer some thoughts on the moral psychology behind anti-abortion arguments of the kind advanced by Akin.

Aim. The article analyses the means of using a new method of storytelling with elements of the poetics of behaviourism, which deeply showed the consequences and impact of the First World War on the lives of civilians in the sphere of hostilities. The heroes of the novel are little children who were running away from the soldiers and found themselves in the dark woods near a fatally wounded mother. The hero of the novel Vasilko, a boy of six or eight years, must fulfil the prayer of a dying mother and save his sister Nastya, who is very young and cannot even speak. The novelty of the author of the novel does not describe Vasylko’s inner emotions, but using the poetics of behaviourism, shows only the actions of the boy and his behaviour in these circumstances. The novel is devoid of emotional expressions, conveys the boy’s behaviour, his actions caused by external pathogens. The author with great force conveys his attitude to the war and its inhumane nature.

e themes of the existential crisis have been central in taking up their work in different domains of human experience and exhibit the force of departure from the so-called standardized norms and values of a society. These themes have been taken up by many authors of African American origin. This paper attempts to represent and explain the theme of alienation through an in-depth analysis of Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. The crisis of identity, gender, consciousness, and everything seemingly comes to question in the powerful narratives of these kinds of writings. One such African American author is Maya Angelou. She is one of those who take these themes with great force and tries to free herself from the shackles of the so-called canonized versions of human values and seeks to explore a world in which she recreates an establishment of her new perspectives and freedom of humanity. The paper concludes by showing the struggles for recognition and self-awareness and developing onto a stronger woman pushed by her feeling of alienation.

En este trabajo se aborda la temática del abuso sexual a niños, niñas y adolescentes y la importancia de la orientación familiar en la prevención de este abominable mal que azota con gran fuerza a una población vulnerable de la sociedad. Comprende un análisis de datos históricos de los orígenes de esta práctica hasta la incidencia de casos que en la actualidad se revelan en la realidad ecuatoriana, sobre todo. Se reflexiona sobre el preocupante aumento de casos que salen a la luz pública, así como también aquellos que no son expuestos y que son parte de una estadística oculta, pero que constituyen una realidad latente que urge ser tratada. Actualmente en un alto índice de familias es muy escaso el diálogo sobre temas de prevención de la violencia sexual infantojuvenil, en gran medida por tabúes, temores e idiosincrasias culturales y falta de capacitación, por lo que se concluye que, a partir de una mayor intervención a través de procesos técnicos, la orientación familiar podría ser un proceso clave para disminuir esta abominable práctica social. THE FAMILY ORIENTATION IN THE PREVENTION OF SEXUAL ABUSE TO CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS ABSTRACT This paper addresses the issue of sexual abuse of children and adolescents and the importance of family guidance in the prevention of this abominable evil that strikes with great force a vulnerable population of society. It includes an analysis of historical data on the origins of this practice up to the incidence of cases that are currently revealed in the Ecuadorian reality, above all. It reflects on the worrying increase of cases that come to public light, as well as those that are not exposed and that are part of a hidden statistic, but that constitute a latent reality that urgently needs to be addressed. At present, in a high index of families, there is very little dialogue about prevention of sexual violence against children and adolescents, largely due to taboos, fears and cultural idiosyncrasies and lack of training, so it is concluded that, after a greater intervention Through technical processes, family counseling could be a key process to reduce this abominable social practice.
