The amount of mango production in Indonesia is quite high, but the quality of postharvest mangoes is still quite low. The quality of the fruit will decline due to contamination; one of the contaminants is fungi. The way to reduce the damage of postharvest products is by coating applications. The purpose of this study was to study the physical, chemical and antifungal activities of harumanis mangoes’s quality which had been given coating during storage that could cause postharvest losses of harumanis mangoes. There are 3 treatments, each of them are respectively the provision of corn based coating  6% tobacco extract, 8% tobacco extract and 10% tobacco extract. The physical and chemical properties of the antifungal coating of tobacco extract made from corn coating for post-harvest damage on harumanis mangoes were obtained by weight loss, texture, colour, respiration rate, vitamin C and total dissolved solid. Preventing coating can prevent damage after harvest and protect the harumanis mango; therefore the quality of the mangoes can be maintained. The best results from the priority with the largest diameter inhibition zone were given corn starch 10% tobacco extract. Then the higher the concentration of extract used, the greater the diameter of the inhibition zone obtained. Based on all the tests performed (physical, chemical, and antifungal) the best treatment from the treatment was obtained that consisted of mangoes with antifungal layers of corn starch 10% tobacco extract. Because the P3 obtained the best results in maintaining physical, chemical content and fungi for 15 days.

Edible film is a thin layer that is used as a substitute for synthetic plastic or used as a primary packaging of food product. Corn starch that is suspended with chitosan and glycerol is able to improve the quality of edible film. The purpose of this research is to determine the physical characteristics of edible film from modified corn starch. The concentrations of chitosan used were 15%, 20% and 25%, and glycerol were 30% and 40%. Physical characteristics of edible film observed were thickness, absorption, solubility and film degradation. The thickness of the film ranges between 0.06-0.14 mm. The best treatment for film absorption, solubility and degradability is obtained from the addition of 15% chitosan and 40% glycerol, whilst the lowest was from 25% chitosan and 30% glycerol. plastics, thickness, absorption, solubility

Abstract In this article, in order to reduce the consumption of starch for gluing warp threads and reduce the cost of sizing materials used in sizing and improve the quality of threads, an effective gluing composition was created based on a hydrolyzed acrylic emulsion (GAE) and uzkhitan (chitosan and carboxymethyl cellulose), that is, corn starch polymer and studied their rheological properties. In the article, the main threads passing through the gluing process and moving at a certain speed, which are then impregnated with liquid gluing. Then they pass through a nip roller and a drying drum, are subjected to friction and form a layer of a certain thickness. A theoretical analysis of the surface of the warp threads is carried out to determine the change in the diameter of the threads when a layer of a certain thickness is formed on their surface.

AbstractPellets are widely used for power generation because they use renewable raw material with easy storage, transport and high energy density. However, the structural fragility, disintegrating during handling, transport and storage, is one of the main problems of pellets, but the addition of binders/additives can minimize this fragility. The objective of this study was to evaluate the properties of wood pellets with the addition of starch (corn and wheat) and kraft lignin in different proportions. Pellets were produced with the addition of starch (wheat and corn) and kraft lignin in the proportions of 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5% in relation to the mass of wood particles of Pinus sp., with 12% moisture (dry basis), classified in 3 and 1 mm sieves and compacted in a pelleting press in the laboratory, according to European standard EN 14961-2. Physical and mechanical properties of the pellets were evaluated and their densitometric profiles obtained from the Faxitron LX-60 X-ray equipment. Corn starch and kraft lignin additives at 4% improved pellet properties (density, fines and hardness), reducing their losses during handling, storage and transport.

In recent years, consumers have shown interest in the ornamental use of some fruits that were previously used mainly for food purposes. However, the use of ‘mini-pumpkins’ for ornamentation can be limited by post-harvest aspects, such as skin depigmentation, fresh mass losses, ethylene production and respiration, which compromise the visual quality of the product, resulting in the loss of its ornamental value. The objective was to evaluate the effect of films application (control, carnauba wax, cassava starch and corn starch) in post-harvest of ornamental mini-pumpkins, aiming the shelf life prolongation (experiment 1) and reduction of ethylene production and respiration (experiment 2). The results obtained in experiment 1 pointed to lower mass loss and maintenance of the ornamental mini-pumpkins epidermis color with the application of carnauba wax film. In experiment 2, the application of carnauba wax and the ethylene action inhibitor (1-MCP) did not and respiration production of mini-pumpkins, suggesting that ethylene is not involved in the modifications that occur in the product during the time of exposure to the environment.

Among the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the active substance dexketoprofen trometamol is released. Its pharmacological and pharmacological and technological characteristics are induced in the article. The feasibility of using the wet granulation method in the development of tablets with dexketoprofen is substantiated. The purpose of this work was selecting the optimal excipients for obtaining a high-quality medicinal product. The excipients were selected and grouped into 4 functional groups. For the planning of the experiment, a matrix was based on the hyper-Greek-Latin parallelepiped. The tablets were prepared by wet granulation. The effect of the excipients for the granulate, tablet mass and core tablets was studied by such factors as loss on during of the granulate, bulk density of the tablet mass, resistance to crushing, friability, disintegration. The experimental data were subjected to statistical analysis by the method of dispersion analysis. The results were expressed using ranked rows of benefits and bar charts. The results of the study of the effect of excipients from groups of fillers, disintegrants, sliding, binding substances on the quality of granulate, tablet mass and tablet cores are provided. The results of the study show that the loss on drying is most influenced by fillers. The quality of the tablet mass depends more on the solution used for wetting, so the nature of the binder and the method of moistening have a determining effect on the bulk density of the tablet mass. Fillers have the most significant effect on the resistance to crushing of the core tablets. The hardness of the dexketoprofen tablet cores characterizes friability, the leading position on the influence is occupied by a group of disintegrants, namely: a mixture of sodium starch and corn starch. The most significant influence on disintegration is exerted by a binder and a moistening method. The generalized results of the study showed that leaders from the four groups of the excipients are appeared by the influence on the technological indicators of granulate, tablet mass and tablet cores. In the result of the work the excipients were selected for development of the composition of the tablet cores, their influence on the pharmaco- technological indicators was also investigated. The excipients were selected for further optimization of the composition of the tablets with dexketoprofen, namely: MCC 102, a mixture of sodium starch glycolate and corn starch, corn starch and the use of a 40% dexketoprofen trometamol.
