SUMMARYHistological sections of skin samples from two Merino flocks were studied to determine if coarse fibres were from primary (P) or secondary (S) follicles. The mean fibre diameters of P and S fibres were 23.7 and 19.7 µ respectively in flock 1 (significantly different P < 0.5) and 23.1 and 20.5 µ respectively in flock 2 (not significantly different). The percentages of fibres exceeding 30 µ in flock 1 were 10.1% P and 1.0% S. In flock 2, the percentages of fibres exceeding 30 µ were 10.3% P and 0.6% S fibres. If 30 µ is taken as an arbitrary level of fibre fineness, then the majority of coarse fibres wore from P follicles. The observed S/P ratios were 22.8/1 at 16 months on flock 1 and 21.7/1 at 15 months in flock 2.

Object. The authors reviewed and analyzed information on 74 patients with split spinal cord malformations (SSCMs) treated between January 1, 1980 and December 31, 1996 at their institution with the aim of defining and classifying the malformations according to the method of Pang, et al. Methods. Computerized tomography myelography was superior to other radiological tools in defining the type of SSCM. There were 46 girls (62%) and 28 boys (38%) ranging in age from less than 1 day to 12 years (mean 33.08 months). The mean age (43.2 months) of the patients who exhibited neurological deficits and orthopedic deformities was significantly older than those (8.2 months) without deficits (p = 0.003). Fifty-two patients had a single Type I and 18 patients a single Type II SSCM; four patients had composite SSCMs. Sixty-two patients had at least one associated spinal lesion that could lead to spinal cord tethering. After surgery, the majority of the patients remained stable and clinical improvement was observed in 18 patients. Conclusions. The classification of SSCMs proposed by Pang, et al., will eliminate the current chaos in terminology. In all SSCMs, either a rigid or a fibrous septum was found to transfix the spinal cord. There was at least one unrelated lesion that caused tethering of the spinal cord in 85% of the patients. The risk of neurological deficits resulting from SSCMs increases with the age of the patient; therefore, all patients should be surgically treated when diagnosed, especially before the development of orthopedic and neurological manifestations.

Abstract Introduction: Evaluating the role of laparoscopic for diagnosis and treatment of undescended testis in children. Material and Methods: Restrospective study, between 6/ 2014 and 6/2017. All the patients are aged from 1 to 16 years with undescended testis underwent laparoscopic surgery for diagnosis and treatment in Deparment of pediatric surgery – Viet Duc hospital enrolled. Results: Of 95 patiens in total had 106 undescended testis diagnosed and treated by laparoscopy. The mean age of patients was 7,5 ± 3,8 years. 44,2% undescended were on the left side, 44,2% were on the right and 11,6% were undescended bilateral. The correct diagnosis by ultrasound accounted in 79,4%. The locations of testis diagnosed by laparoscopic are : intra abdomen in 45,3%, deep inguinal orifice in 16,9%, extra inguinal orifice in 26,4%, no testicle found in 11,4%. The mean time of operation were 67,33± 28,01 pht. Scrotal positions were achieved 74,5%, remove atrophic testis accounted in 7,6%. Stephen- Flowler technique including step I were in 4,7%, step II in 1,9%. The outcome evaluated by testicular positions following 3 months after operation are : good in 79,2%, moderate 13,2%, poor in 7,6%; By classification of Aubert are : good in 81,1%, moderate in 11,3% and poor in 7,6 %. Conclusion: Laparoscopic surgery is not only a highly sensitive diagnostic method to find accurately the location and size of the testes, but also the most effective method to treat impalpable undescended testes.

The article aims to develop a model for forecasting the characteristics of traffic flows in real-time based on the classification of applications using machine learning methods to ensure the quality of service. It is shown that the model can forecast the mean rate and frequency of packet arrival for the entire flow of each class separately. The prediction is based on information about the previous flows of this class and the first 15 packets of the active flow. Thus, the Random Forest Regression method reduces the prediction error by approximately 1.5 times compared to the standard mean estimate for transmitted packets issued at the switch interface.

This study aims to perform a multiscale analysis of abraded surfaces of 316L austenitic stainless steel and titanium alloys (TiAl6V4) grinded at different paper grades. The authors propose to answer the following question: For a given distribution of silicon carbide grains of the paper, what is the best roughness parameter and at which scale must it be evaluated better to discriminate the effect of the mechanical properties of the materials? Paper grades from 80 to 4000 were used under identical pressure and erosion time. It can be concluded that the values of the amplitude roughness parameters depend on the observation scale. It is outlined that the abrasion process is very reproducible. A statistical analysis is then proposed, first, to define a classification of the relevance of the roughness parameters for each grain size distribution, and second, to determine at which scale the mechanical properties of the bulk are more influenced for all paper grades. Finally, at relevant scales, the Abbott amplitude parameters roughness kernel (RK) is the best parameter to discriminate the paper grade effect. The mean distance between asperities (SM) is the preferred method for determining the wear effect on materials and the linear mean normalizing autocorrelation (AMNLN) is the preferred method for determining the interaction between paper grade and materials.

Aims To identify the frequency of reports of sporadic schwannomatosis, the types of patients affected, and the nerves affected. Patients and Methods We identified all case reports and case series that reported on patients with sporadic schwannomatosis according to established criteria. Results The initial search yielded 1,597 studies, of which 15 were included. A total of 38 of 55 individuals met the inclusion criteria. The mean age of the patients was 48 years; 41% were male. Thirty-three patients had peripheral nerve tumors, and 17 had spinal tumors. Twelve had tumors in both locations. Tumor distribution was unilateral in 25 of 30 cases (83.3%) and segmental (limited to one limb or five or fewer contiguous segments of the spine) in 28 of 38 cases (73.7%). Conclusion This systematic review quantified the number of individuals who meet the criteria for sporadic schwannomatosis and better described this population to facilitate the classification of neurofibromatosis in regard to the 2005 consensus statement. Unilateral or segmental distribution of nerve tumors are key aspects when dealing with multiple noncutaneous schwannomas without involvement of the vestibular nerve.

Abstract BackgroundNot much is known about the results of the severity classification according to the time of visit to the emergency department and the appropriateness of using a public ambulance when visiting the emergency department.MethodsThis descriptive research study retrospectively reviewed and analyzed the medical records of patients who visited the emergency department of the B general hospital in Seoul from January to December 2019.ResultsA total of 54,297 patients were included in the analysis. Of the total, 34,629 (63.8%) patients visited directly while 14,065 (25.9%) visited through public ambulances, and 10,328 (73.4%) of patients using public ambulances were discharged home. The numbers of daytime and nighttime patients were 24,891 (45.8%) and 29,406 (54.2%), respectively. The mean length of emergency department stay (LoS) of patients classified as emergency was 326 minutes, while that of non-emergency patients was 159 minutes. In addition, the mean LoS of patients classified as Korean triage and acuity scale levels 1 and 2 was 427 min and 430 min, respectively, which was longer than the total of 236 minutes.ConclusionWe confirmed that patients who visited the emergency department using public ambulances accounted for about 25% of all emergency department visits, and of which 70% were discharged home. In addition, patients with high severity showed a longer mean LoS, and daytime showed higher severity and more patients than nighttime.

This paper describes group theoretical classification of superconducting states (SC) in the extended Hubbard model with on-site repulsion (U), nearest neighbor attraction (V) and nearest neighbour exchange interaction (J) on the two-dimensional square lattice using the mean field approach. By decomposing the pairing interaction into irreducible parts; A1g, B1g and Eu of D4h point symmetry, we have derived two singlet SCs (s-wave and d-wave) from A1g and B1g, eight triplet SCs from Eu. The first three types of triplet SC have pairing by electrons with antiparallel spin, the second two types have pairing by electrons with equal spin and the last three types are non-unitary and have pairing by only up-spin electrons. We showed that three non-unitary states have to be accompanied with a ferromagnetic order from the structure of the maximal little groups. We performed numerical studies for these SCs. For parameters and electron density favorable for the ferromagnetic order, a non-unitary SC coexistent with ferromagnetism is most stable.

Background: The purpose of this study is to test the hypothesis of the new classification system of distal end radius fractures (Barzullah working classification) proposed by one of the author in a prospective cohort study, among the orthopaedic residents. Methods: The initial post-injury radiographs of 300 patients with distal radius fractures in a tertiary centre were classified by two junior residents (JR1 and JR2) and two senior residents (SR1 and SR2) in the emergency department over a period of two years. The collected data was analysed statistically by using Cohan's kappa for measuring Intraobserver reproducibility and Fleiss kappa for measuring Interobserver agreement. Results: The mean kappa value for Interobserver agreement was 0.53 (moderate agreement) at the end of one year and the mean kappa value at the end of study period was 0.64 (substantial agreement). The mean kappa value for Intraobserver reproducibility of JR1 was 0.45 (moderate agreement), JR2 was 0.39 (fair agreement), SR1 was 0.62 (substantial agreement) and SR2 was 0.67 (substantial agreement). Conclusions: Barzullah working classification of distal radius fractures presented in this study has good characteristics compared to those of already studied classification systems among orthopaedic residents.

The purpose of the study was to determine the structure of the incidence of thymus tumors in the Kharkiv region, taking into account the histological classification of thymus tumors and to analyze diagnostically significant indicators of the immune response of patients with thymomas. Materials and methods. The medical histories of 158 patients aged 16 to 80 years with diseases of the thymus gland were studied during 2006-2019. The indices of phagocytic activity of granulocytic neutrophils in blood heparinization, phagocytic index, phagocytic number, phagocytosis completion index and activity of proteins of the complement system were analyzed. We also analyzed the indices of the number of T- and B-lymphocytes obtained using monoclonal antibodies (CD2+, CD3+, CD4+, CD8+, CD16+, CD19+) (immunofluorescence method). Results and discussion. The structure of the incidence of tumors of the thymus in the Kharkiv region was determined, taking into account the histological classification of tumors of the thymus and indicators of the immune status of patients with thymomas. The relationship was determined between the indicators of the phagocytic activity of granulocytic neutrophils and the activity of proteins of the complement system, as well as changes in the ratio of the subpopulation composition of T-lymphocytes in patients with different types of thymomas. Lymphoepithelial thymoma is most widespread in male population in the age groups 40-59 and 20-39 years, and the lymphoid thymoma – in male population in the age group 20-39 years and female population in the age group 40-59 years. The significant decrease (p <0.05) in the mean value of the phagocytic index was revealed in group of patients with lymphoid thymomas. The subpopulations of T-lymphocytes CD3+ and CD4+ were significantly reduced (p <0.05) in group of patients with lymphoepithelial thymomas. The subpopulations of T-lymphocytes CD4+ and CD8+ were significantly reduced (p <0.05) in group of patients with lymphoid thymomas. The increasing of the mean values of markers CD16+ and CD19+ (p <0.05) in all study groups indicates that the processes of antibody production in patients with thymomas are activated regardless of the type of thymoma. Conclusion. The structure of thymus pathology in the population of the Kharkiv region is characterized by the predominance of tumor pathology in the general structure of thymus pathology, which is 51.3%. The lymphoepithelial and lymphoid thymomas are the most common tumors of the thymus and were recorded in 64.2% and 30.8% of patients with thymomas, respectively
