Social ecology as expressed by the Social Ecology Centre, (Faculty of Agriculture & Rural Development, University of Western Sydney, Hawkesbury), is an emerging field of learning concerned with improving the quality of the interrelationships between people and between people and the environment. The essence of this improvement is powerfully depicted by Albert Einstein, with this plea for people to widen their sense of compassion and concern to all life:A human being is part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe’ a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.Social ecology then is concerned with recognising and transcending this ‘optical delusion’ of which Einstein speaks.In 1992 the Social Ecology Centre will be offering, through the introduction of the Bachelor of Applied Science (Social Ecology) [B. App. Sc. (Soc. Ecol.)] program, a substantively new and different approach to environmental education at a tertiary level. The establishment of the B.App.Sc. (Soc. Ecol.) will provide for the first time learning opportunities in social ecology at undergraduate level.

Environmental problems, pollution and global warming can be addressed from different perspectives. This project seeks to be an effective proposal to address these issues. It directs its efforts to the development of a process of awareness of young Peruvians between the ages of 11 and 15, to be incorporated into public schools through a program of environmental education. It starts from identifying a district model with critical levels of pollution in which to promote and implement an appropriate environmental education to contribute to the improvement and welfare of the environment The Independencia district was selected for it shows acute health problems, pollution and poor environmental awareness and culture, with the whole purpose of changing the attitude of a group of young people, parents and teachers to the social and environmental problems of their environment, instilling in them awareness and training in environmental education to create a multiplier effect and to improve their quality of life.

psychological research is devoted to the study of the nature of the relationship between the indicators of empathy and the level of stress resistance of the personality of a social worker. For the first time, a comparative analysis of test data of respondents by age criterion is presented. Today the profession of a social worker is one of the most widespread in the world and in Russia. As social problems grow in society and the level and quality of life of the population decreases, the number of socially vulnerable categories of the population increases, the profession of a social worker will remain in demand for a long time. The study revealed the danger of the development of emotional burnout and professional deformations of social workers with the aggravation of the sanitary and epidemiological situation with COVID-19. As a result, age-related conditionality in indicators of stress tolerance and empathy among representatives of the “social worker” profession was proved.

The information technology is important factor for development of the economy branch in the modern world. This factor is important in the social work education too.  In the study process active use of IT helps to improve the quality of studies, saves the time of students and teachers, and provides more possibilities to compete in the labour market. In the presentation the communication by IT tools, the teacher and the student's common work in virtual environments, distance learning opportunities are presented.

Background. The costs of depression treatment in Lithuania increase because of high depression relapse rates which indicate the necessity to evaluate first-time depression treatment rationality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of antidepressants according to the opinion of three groups of specialists (family doctors, psychiatrists and pharmacists) in order to assess the possibilities of a more rational use of depression treatment costs rationalizing opportunities. Materials and methods. Data on depression diagnoses were obtained from the Republic Psychiatric Health Centre. In 2009, 361 Lithuanian pharmacist, 317 family doctors and 280 psychiatrists were interviewed. The data were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences program. Results. In the study period (2004–2009), the volume of total depression diagnoses grew up by 12% and the number of relapsed depression diagnoses by 27%. Among family doctors, 13% still don’t launch depression treatment by themselves, and 62% of them refer patients to psychiatrists in cases of depression relapse. Those who prescribe a medicine all alone in most cases use sertraline, but even 38% of family doctors mention benzodiazepines. According to family doctors’ answers, 32% of them reevaluate the effect of medications in 4 weeks and 25% do not monitor it at all. More than 50% of pharmacists have noted that every day they are asked by patients for antidepressants without prescription. Conclusions. The abundance of cases of recurrent depression, recorded by family doctors, encourage to revise the preparedness of family doctors to treat this disease. The specialists’ opinion makes us to reevaluate and question the quality of depression treatment and to rationalize the efficiency of depression treatment in Lithuania as regards its both economic and social aspects. This book advances an innovative look at a well known, if arguably often misunderstood, historic building typology: the eighteenth-century brick terraced (or row) house. Created for the upper tier of the social spectrum, these houses were largely designed and built by what is customarily regarded as the lower tier of the architectural hierarchy; that is, by artisan communities of bricklayers, carpenters, plasterers and related tradesmen. From London and Dublin to Boston and Philadelphia, these houses collectively formed the streets and squares that became the links and pivots of ‘enlightened’ city plans, and remain central to their respective historic and cultural identities. But while the scenographic quality of Bath and the stuccoed interiors of Dublin have long enjoyed critical approbation, the ‘typical’ house is understood less in terms of design and more in terms of production: consequently, historians have emphasized the commercial motivations of this artisan class at the expense of how they satisfied the demands of an elite, and taste-conscious, real estate market. Drawing on extensive primary source material, from property deeds and architectural drawings to trade cards and newspaper advertising, this book rehabilitates the status of the house builder by examining his negotiation of both the manual and intellectual dimensions of the building process. For the first time, Building Reputations considers the artisan as both a figure of building production and an agent of architectural taste.

Resumo: A relação sociedade-natureza atual é caracterizada por uma série de inadequações que, consequentemente, são traduzidas em impactos ambientais e diminuição da qualidade de vida. Quando nos referimos ao espaço rural, para que o modelo de desenvolvimento seja sustentável, deve ocorrer uma “evolução” do modelo de produção agrícola, em uma direção que combine elementos de várias propostas alternativas e de um “melhoramento” das práticas convencionais. A Educação do Campo, em conjunto com a Educação Ambiental, tem se mostrado como uma possível estratégia para transformar o espaço rural brasileiro, no sentido da sustentabilidade, resgatando-o como espaço de produção, mas também de relações socioculturais e com a natureza. Desta forma, o objetivo deste estudo é promover reflexões acerca da aproximação entre a Educação do Campo e a Educação Ambiental, bem como a importância deste vínculo para a promoção do desenvolvimento rural sustentável. Para isso realizou-se uma revisão teórica integrativa da literatura acerca do tema. Tanto a Educação Ambiental quanto a Educação do Campo propõem uma pedagogia que visa promover a educação contextualizada localmente, onde se situam os sujeitos e atores do processo educativo, o que permite buscar soluções aos problemas sociais e ambientais locais, promovendo transformações para a sustentabilidade.Palavras-chave: Desenvolvimento Rural. Educação Ambiental. APPROACHES BETWEEN FIELD EDUCATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN ALTERNANCY FAMILY TRAINING CENTERSAbstract: The current society-nature relation is characterized by a several inadequacies that, consequently, are translated into environmental impacts and diminished quality of life. When we refer to the rural space, for a development sustainable model, it is necessary an "evolution" of the agricultural production model, in a direction that combines elements of several alternative proposals and an "improvement" of conventional practices. Field Education, together with Environmental Education, has been a possible strategy to transform the Brazilian rural space, in the sense of sustainability, rescuing it as a production space, but also of socio-cultural relations with nature. In this way, the objective of this study is to promote reflections about the approximation between Field Education and Environmental Education, as well as the importance of this link for the promotion of sustainable rural development. Thus, a integrative review of the literature has been carried out. Both, Environmental Education and Field Education, propose a pedagogy that aims to promote locally contextualized education, where the subjects and actors of the educational process are located, which allows to find solutions to local social and environmental problems, promoting transformations to sustainability direction.Keywords: Rural Development. The subject of the study is the rural territories and settlements of the country, which are influenced by the conflicting processes of reforming the economic basis of their development, which increases the uncertainty and causes the emergence of social risks in terms of organization of economic activity and obtaining the required level of labor income and, accordingly, the level and quality of life. The current transformational changes in rural areas, amid the processes of decentralization of the current management system, create new conditions that are more or less conducive to the successful organization of rural residents' livelihoods. The urgent task of today is to study the practical problem of the effective development of rural territories, the insufficiency of its development and the complex tasks of revitalization of rural territories of their resource potential in the context of intra-regional features of rural development, which is the basis for carrying out scientific research in accordance with these topics. The purpose of the study is to explore ways to solve problems of regional development, especially rural development, which has never been neglected by economic science, since sustainable development of the country and its regions is impossible without the social revival of the village. Also, a comprehensive theoretical and practical study of issues of management and state regulation of rural development, in particular, the substantiation of socio-economic and environmental problems of the development of the Ukrainian village, the isolation of rural areas, the formation of organizational and economic mechanism of state support for their development and implementation of modern state agricultural policy. Methodology. The problematic of the development of the potential of rural territories is based on the use of multifaceted scientific methods of knowledge of phenomena and processes. Application of statistical methodology in the process of analyzing the dynamics and tendencies of rural development, the effective functioning of agriculture, which is the basis for the study of problems of rural development in general. Economic and statistical research is based on specific techniques, their totality forms the methodology of statistics (methods of mass observations, groupings, generalizations, time series, index method, etc.). Results. In the conditions of formation of market relations in rural areas, especially in the period of economic instability in the country, the study of preconditions for ensuring balanced potential of rural development on the basis of internally oriented motivational factors, justification of priority types of economic activity of rural territories of the region with observance of ecological requirements becomes extremely relevant. One of the main areas to reform the regional development management mechanism is the development of local initiative. The practical implementation is to use the method of delegation of authority as one way of establishing the competence of local public authorities, which is an important part of the decentralization of the executive power, and is of great importance for all processes of the rule of law and, in particular, for improving the efficiency of the local government system. public authority. The Institute of Delegation of Authority in the current context is important for the functioning of public authority in rural areas. In addition, the introduction of a programmatic targeting method in the budgetary process of rural development will help to ensure transparency of the budgetary process, which will clearly define the goals and objectives for which the budgetary resources of the region are spent, which in turn will increase the level of control over the results of implementation of budgetary programs. This approach will improve the quality of fiscal policy-making, the efficiency of distribution and the use of budgetary resources in rural areas. Value/originality. State policy in Ukraine on regulating the potential of land relations should be aimed at solving the organizational and legal problems that have accumulated in recent years and to address the social negatives of land transformation in the countryside.

Background/Context Developing countries desire institutions ranked as “world-class,” and want to increase postsecondary participation. Limited public monies require decisions that usually augment the welfare of one objective at the expense of another. An additional conundrum concerns the need for quality assurances. Research needs to be rigorous; students need to be well trained. The authors suggest that the social ecology of higher education has a crucial role to play in India. The challenges are whether to accommodate rapid expansion, how to improve the overall quality of the system, and invest in a research infrastructure. Purpose/Objective/Research Questions/Focus of Study The article's purpose is to ask if the social ecology of postsecondary education that has been created in India is in its best interests. Social ecology refers to the universe of postsecondary organizations that account for the 35,357 institutions in India. Insofar as the ecology is “social,” the citizens and government determine the shape of the ecology. The authors first offer a traditional definition of what has been meant by the public good and then turn to a consideration of India's social ecology of higher education. The article's purpose then, is specific to India and more generalized to postsecondary education in a globalized world. The text situates the institutions and systems of higher education into a social ecology that until recently has been framed by the idea of a public good. Setting The study took place in India during 2015–2016. Research Design The text is an analytic essay that utilized secondary texts pertaining to the structure and quality of the postsecondary system in India. Conclusions/Recommendations The authors suggest that the “'alphabet soup” of institutional forms that currently exists in India does not serve the country well; the taxonomy tends to obscure, rather than clarify, roles and responsibilities. They argue that a new social ecology of higher education needs to be put forward that streamlines relationships, clarifies roles and regulations, improves data analysis, and focuses on quality rather than quantity.

In this paper, the phenomenon of suburbanization in Ukraine is considered for the first time on the example of cottage settlements of the capital region. The issue of cottage settlements has not been studied specifically in Ukrainian human geography. A review of the achievements of foreign colleagues has revealed that they are mainly being studied as a new stage in the development of former summer cooperatives (dacha). In our opinion, it is rather one of the forms of pseudourbanization and imitation of Western European standards and forms of life. The cottage settlements have a higher quality of life than the surrounding villages and this causes social polarization within the urban agglomeration of the Ukrainian capital. It was revealed that the transport accessibility to Kyiv, the capital of the country, as well as the presence of natural attractors – the river, pond or forest plays an important role in their location. Conflicts have arisen over access to former public beaches and recreation areas. Currently, only residents of the respective cottage settlements have access to them, which causes social conflict with the local rural population. With the exception of four villages within the administrative boundaries of the capital, the rest are 10 to 30 kilometers away from the main motorways. The social stratification of cottage settlements has great importance. The most prestigious of them arose on the south direction 10 km from Kyiv. They are located in Koncha-Zaspa along the Dnieper river. Here their greatest concentration is revealed. Cottage settlements in the Koncha Zaspa area have become the main residence of the richest citizens of Ukraine. This led to the complete transformation of this settlement into a network of gated communities. Thus, a new structure of population distribution in the city agglomeration is gradually forming. It is presented on the map of accommodation of cottage settlements among traditional urban and rural settlements.

The article deals with the biography and scientific achievements of doctor of geographical sciences, geologist, paleontologist, geographer, cartographer, social ecologist Professor G. Bachynski. In particular, considerable attention is paid to his role in the development of speleology in Ukraine. The activities of G. Bachynski on the head of palaeozoological department of the Complex karst expedition of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR were described. His work allowed identifying karst type of localization of the vertebrates. A separate paragraph is devoted to the period of Professor’s life where he is revealed as a cartographer, working in the Computer centre of the Institute of applied problems of mechanics and mathematics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in Lviv. G. Bachynski organized and headed the group of mathematical-cartographical modelling of the social-ecological systems in the Computer centre of the Institute of applied problems of mechanics and mathematics. He also developed and successfully applied for the first time the leading method of the social ecology – mathematical-cartographic modelling of the regional and the local ecosystems. Name of G. Bachynski is the most well-known in the social ecology. He devoted his doctoral thesis “Applied social ecology and the role of geographical science in its formation” to this science. In his doctoral thesis, he developed the theoretical foundations of a new interdisciplinary integration, the doctrine of harmonizing the interaction between society and nature – the social ecology. He had done significant organizational work on the establishment and development of this science in Ukraine. His role in organizing and conducting the first all-Union scientific-practical conference “The problems of social ecology” in Lviv was disclosed in the article. Due to this conference, social ecology was granted the official recognition. The key milestones of social and political activity of the citizen and the scientist Professor G. Bachynski were noted.
