Microscopy is unique among its analytical counterparts: it requires a hand-eye-brain coordination not needed in any other type of analytical instrumentation. On one hand, manufacturers of microscopes and auxiliary technologies are working to make systems seamless, transparent, and easier to use. On the other hand, microscopists, even those who will use the microscope as routine tools, need to be knowledgeable in their core disciplines as well as fluent in microscopy and sample preparation. It is not enough that a the person running a microscope be trained to "push this button; turn this knob". Especially as we move into the next millennium, it will become increasingly important to understand the light/matter, electron/matter, or probe/matter interactions which occur when examining a specimen. Microscopists of all descriptions will need to know how to optimize both the sample and the technology, how to interpret the information presented by the image, and how to separate artifact from true information. To compound the problem, the convergence of computer, diverse software packages, microscope, camera, and analytical techniques is producing a new type of multiple level information which, in turn, requires expertise in multiple disciplines.

ABSTRACT.  A study of pyisical properties and quality of yogurt with Lactobacillus bulgaricus as a starter has been doon. Objectives of this study is to know how many percent starter of L. bulgaricus in yogurt to decrease suscepetibility to syneresis and to increase quality of yogurt. Yogurt was analyzed for susceptibility to syineresis, titratable acidity and content of crude protein and crude fat. Syinerisis of yogurt was evaluated according to centrifugal methods of Halwarkar and Kalab. The result of the study showed that yogurt with 2.5-10 % L. bulgaricus as a starter are not have any effect of susceptibility to synerisis and content of crude fat, but centripuged at 250-1000 rpm. Had significantly different (0.01) on susceptibility to synerisis. On the other hand the increasing of centrifuge rotation, increase susceptibility to synerisis. The starter of 5-10% L. bulgaricus used in yogurt able to increase titratable acidity and content of crude protein. The yogurt prepared by 10% L. bulgaricus had the highest score (3.88%) of crude protein, although there is no significant differences with yogurt using 7.5% L. bulgaricus.

<p>The city of Évora, a World Heritage Site recognized by UNESCO in 1986, also owes this recognition to the stones that built its monuments and preserve them until today.</p><p>This work brings together the contributions that we have gathered over the past three decades and allow us to have a very complete idea, not only about the materials used in the hundreds of monuments and historic buildings but also about their provenance. If some materials are so emblematic that they allow an immediate identification with the naked eye, others needed more sophisticated and precise techniques so that there was no doubt about their origin.</p><p>The igneous rocks and gneisses of granite composition are part of the “Massif of Évora” on which the city is built. Thus, and quite naturally they are by far the most represented group in monuments from all historical periods. Its function is essentially structural, but there are also functional, ornamental and decorative objects. For example, the oldest megalithic structures found in the vicinity of the city are made up of large granite blocks that often had to be transported to their locations.</p><p>On the other hand, many gargoyles and statues that decorate the churches are also made up of these granite rocks. On these, the natural erosion of centuries of exposure to the environment has led to a state of alteration, sometimes very accentuated, which would justify its replacement by replicas sculpted in similar rocks. Provenance studies have made it possible to identify old quarries in the vicinity of the city where, on the one hand, the ancient rock extraction techniques can be observed and on the other hand, they allow the obtaining of the raw material necessary for these restoration and conservation works. In any case, they are places that need to be inventoried and protected, with the municipality already aware of their existence.</p><p>As well as the monuments of the Roman Period, also the structures of the Medieval Period, such as the city walls, the Cathedral (started to be built in 1186 AD) and all the great churches, were also built with these granitoids.</p><p>In addition to these rocks, many others of multiple varieties and origins are present. The marbles, especially the Estremoz Marbles (Global Heritage Stone Resource), are ubiquitous in the city, but there are also emblematic marbles from other places, some easily identifiable (ie Viana do Alentejo, Escoural, Trigaches, Serpa and Vila Verde de Ficalho, for presenting mineralogy, textures, colors and patterns which, together with more recent analytical techniques, have confirmed its provenance.</p><p>Sedimentary rocks, with emphasis on Portuguese Mesozoic limestones, ie Lioz - GHSR and Brecha da Arrábida - GHSR candidate, among others more rare and with very specific use in ornamental details, are also present and contribute to enrich a heritage in stone that makes this city so special and very popular with tourists of all nationalities.</p><p>Acknowledgments: the authors thank to FCT for funding the ICT (UID/GEO/04683/2019), as well as COMPETE POCI-01-0145-FEDER-007690.</p>

Background: This research discusses the problem of the use of English citation by some college students in helping with their assignments. There is still no research about this topic, on the other hand, this is actually important for education. From the problem discussed here, the main point is to know, "Do college students often use English citations in their assignments and understand the citations they have taken?" Purpose: This research aims to know how far Indonesian students' comprehension is to the English citation which they used to help their academic writing for their college assignment. Method: The method used in this study is qualitative, the method that focused on observation to obtain a more comprehensive phenomenon study. In this research, we use data that have already been taken and collected from 62 college students and 15 of them have conducted the interview process to take further information from them. Results: It shows that the majority of college students in this research prefer to use Indonesian citations because they can understand more compared with the English one.

This chapter analyses the effects of social media on political communication and the role they play in government-citizen relations by focusing on the Twitter ban phenomenon in Turkey in March 2014. The chapter asks the reasons of government intervention in social media, particularly Twitter. It argues that Twitter makes, on the one hand, a significant contribution to the evolution of political participation as it diversifies the process and methods of political communication. On the other hand, it introduces a new type of security dilemma which encourages governments to consider taking measures against social media to protect their authority.

An Ordinary General Meeting- of the Society was held at the Royal Society of Arts, on Thursday, February ist, 1923, Professor L. Bairstow in the chair.The Chairman, in opening- the proceedings, said that Mr. G. S. Baker, O.B.E., of the National Physical Laboratory, would deal with flying boats and seaplanes. He would deal with the hull and its design, that part of the seaplane which differentiates it from the aeroplane. That subject had been touched on very lightly by Major Rennie at the previous meeting of the Society, in view of the present paper by Mr. Baker.Mr. Baker had begun work in 1912 on the problems of hull design, at a time when nothing of a definite nature was known; a few individual experiments had been carried out, but there was no systematised knowledge at all at that time. From that state of ignorance a great deal of experimental work had now rescued us. He did not know how far Mr. Baker would stress the point, but it was quite clear, from the investigation of certain accidents to seacraft, that there were fundamental differences in the behaviour of seaplane hulls on the water, differences which had a great deal of effect on the risk of flying-. For instance, if one type of hull was such that when the plane rose in the air it stalled, then all the aerodynamical consequences of stalling- followed, and there was difficulty. On the other hand, it appeared that we had a type of flying- boat which did not make the plane stall on getting into the air, and consequently if it came back to the water it was still controlled. For this type of development, which he believed really dated back to the C.E.i, we were mainly indebted to Mr. Baker and his associates at the National Physical Laboratory, and to the generosity of Sir Alfred Yarrow in placing such a magnificent piece of apparatus as the experimental tank at the disposal of the nation.Mr. Baker then read his paper on “ Ten Years’ Testing of Model Seaplanes.”

The fate of trichothecene mycotoxins deoxynivalenol (DON), T-2 and HT-2 toxins during the bread preparation and baking was investigated in order to obtain information about the influence of processing conditions on the levels of these toxins in final products. Highly artificially contaminated wheat was used to obtain flours with three contamination levels (DON 1615–398, T-2 toxin 927–160, and HT-2 toxin 258–38 μg/kg). Method for Test Baking of Wheat Flours (ICC Standard No.131) was used within the experiments for bread sample preparation. Various combinations of dough fermentation, proofing and baking times were used to prepare test breads. For determination of toxin levels in all tested matrices, HPLC–MS/MS method was employed. No substantial effect on DON levels was observed as a result of various conditions used for bread preparation and baking; maximum DON decrease 10%, compared to contaminated flour. On the other hand, significant changes in T-2/HT-2 toxin contents were found in experimental bread compared to contaminated flour; reduction of T-2 toxin concentration (30–50%) and increase of HT-2 toxin concentration (10–70%), respectively.

Pictures are language teaching aids that can make students love to write. They have an idea to write. They can describe what they see. This study focuses on the coherence and unity of student descriptive essay written based on the picture. There are several ways to know how coherence and how the unity of a paragraph. For coherence, there are noun repeats, use of pronouns, use of transitions, and setting sentences in a logical order. On the other hand, for unity, the author only discusses one main idea. The research design used is descriptive qualitative. This study was conducted in three meetings. Each meeting, the students get a different picture. Next, they should write and collect at the end of the meeting. Then, the words, phrases, and sentences written by students are analyzed. Furthermore, it was analyzed descriptively. From the results of student essay, it can be seen that there is a significant improvement on the ability of students in writing descriptive text. It seems that the use of images can help students to write descriptive text. The picture can give them an illustration of what they will write. Keywords: Picture, descriptive text, coherence, unity

The island of Malta has served as a strategic colony since the dawn of history. Since Phoenician and Roman times, the island has been an important base in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Its last colonisers, the British, spent about 180 years using the islands for their imperial needs. The official closing of the British base on 31 March 1979 heralded a new economic and social reality supposedly unhampered by the exigencies of foreigners. Two major post-memory reactions kicked in – nostalgia and aversion to ex-colonial life. The postcolonial Maltese generations exhibit a range of reactions oscillating between love and hate for the British. On the other hand, British ex-service personnel and their families have continued to feel an affinity with the island base which they had come to acknowledge as a second home. This allows for a new type of relationship between the Maltese people and their British visitors where issues of colonial post-memory are negotiated. These are seen at their best in the local tourism industry. Malta woos British tourists and goes to great effort to attract them. It uses to its advantage the colonial affinity to create an attractive destination for the British which benefits the locals and the Maltese economy. In Malta post-memory has evolved in line with necessity and expediency, where animosity, though manifestly tangible, has gradually morphed into a rather benign residue in the collective reaction to the colonial past.

The current study aims at knowing know how far a religiosity affects a person’s behavior in the capital market. This qualitative research uses the religiosity theory constructed by Glork and Start . These results from the interview to 3 investors as the subjects of the research shows that the religiosity of Muslim investors in Pekalongan is not automatically guarantee their invesment behaviors. This research support the previous research conclusion that religiousity not automaticaly conducted muslim investment behavior in banking and finance. On the other hand there are some research have different conclusion.

The unprecedented availability of data, along with the growing variety of software packages to visualize it, presents both opportunities and challenges for operations management (OM) research. OM researchers typically use data to describe conditions, predict phenomena, or make prescriptions depending on whether they are building, testing, or translating theories to practice. Visualization, when used appropriately, can complement, aid, and augment the researcher’s understanding in the different stages of research (theory building, testing, or translating and conveying results). On the other hand, if used incorrectly or without sufficient consideration, visualization can yield misleading and erroneous claims. This article formally examines the benefits of visualization as a complementary method enhancing each stage of a broader OM research strategy by examining frameworks and cases from extant research in different OM contexts. Our discussion offers guidance with regard to researchers’ use of visual data renderings, particularly toward avoiding misrepresentation, which can arise with the incorrect use of visualization. We close with a consideration of emerging trends and their implications for researchers and practitioners as well as recommendations for both authors and reviewers, regardless of domain, in evaluating the effectiveness of visuals at each stage of research.
