This study aimed to analyze the possibilities that modern digital technologies offer to the fields of health, psychotherapy, psychology and self-help. A review of various studies in the field of digital medicine with statistical data was conducted. The conclusions that researchers from different countries came to were similar: digital health applications are a practical solution that can be used to improve mental and psychological health. Moreover, digital psychotherapy can serve as a preventive tool to avert the development of mental disorders, increase the ability to deal with stress and mental problems, grow self-confidence, and more. The results of a study that was carried out using a Russian multimedia tool Master Kit are discussed. After using the program for three months, its users advanced in their ability to create an image of the desired outcome (a goal) and develop a plan to reach it. There is a noticeable difference in how goal-oriented the users became and their ability to independently self-train. Experimental data suggest that the tool can be effectively used to form and transform personal beliefs through a self-training format. More than half of the subjects talked about their satisfaction with the method, and more than one-quarter of them noted that their expectations from working with the program were fully satisfied.

Background. Modern digital technologies use can solve many problems of Russian healthcare system. The digital medicine development should be accompanied by the informatization of all participants of the process of providing medical services. Analysis and assessment of the changes taking place in society and in the health care system itself in digitalization terms are necessary for making effective management decisions aimed at improving the population health. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to analyze the digital medicine state and prospects for the development. Materials and methods. The analysis of foreign and domestic literature on digital medicine was used to identify current trends in this area and the variety of technologies used. The data analysis from public opinion polls gave an idea of the main problems of Russian healthcare. The study of Internet resources, like information and discussion platforms for medical professionals, as well as survey data, made it possible to identify the main aspects of the informatization process in the healthcare system. Results and discussion. There were highlighted: the main advantages of information technologies use in the healthcare sector, the priority areas for the digital medicine short term development, the level of understanding of telemedicine among healthcare workers, the main areas of discussion regarding digital medical technologies, as well as important problems, risks and trends in this area. Conclusion. The authors identified eight promising areas for the digital medicine short term development. The study of Internet resources has shown that medical social networks are an important channel for healthcare informatization, including professional adaptation, especially of young specialists, to work with new technologies. The Internet also allows physicians to expand their professional capabilities with the help of software products for laboratory research, diagnosis and treatment. All participants of the medical and related industries are actively entering the digitalization process, striving to create a unified system for electronic data exchange. The main problem that slows down the development of digital medicine in Russia and which needs to be addressed at the state level is ensuring data security. A key measure to solve this problem is information about digital health opportunities through social media. At the content creation level there must be built trust to this channel.

The development of the health sector around the world is linked to digital technologies, because there is a need to optimize the processes of medical care for the population. Every year there is an increase in this market by a quarter. The use of digital technologies helps to improve health care. The management and organization system implements unified effective systems using the technological capabilities of digitalization in the health care sector. The relevance of the study is related to the need to change the outdated health management system with access to a modern level of technical and administrative support for medical services.The actual tool of digital medicine is cooperative forms of network interaction. We are exploring the further development of digital medicine in the short term, what opportunities can be presented and what results can be obtained by residents. Network communications play an important role in uniting professional medical communities. More than 65% of people between the ages of 21 and 35 have become participants in network technologies, and their number is constantly increasing. Administrative and management staffs are most active in discussions (43%) on the Internet and all respondents have an idea about telemedicine. Patients have the opportunity to get advice by contacting doctors online. The next stage in the development of information technologies is associated with increasing the speed and volume of transmitted data, which will help to predict critical conditions that threaten the patient’s health as quickly as possible. Now there is a discussion about the possibility of not just consulting, but also making diagnoses when patients contact the doctor, discussing in which cases a personal meeting with the doctor is necessary and under what conditions it is enough to provide maximum information about the state of health for diagnosis. The purpose of the study is to assess the perception of various aspects of digital medicine by the youth segment of consumers, the degree of readiness to consume its services and the level of involvement in this process. The last few years have become a turning point for medicine, if we talk about the number of new directions, emerging techniques and the introduction of digital technologies. Digital medicine uses information and communication technologies to solve health problems of different groups of patients. Its capabilities help doctors and patients to analyze the development of the disease, calculate health risks. The segment of medical gadgets of digital medicine offers consumers a variety of products. Artificial intelligence and wearable devices are becoming common means of organizing the treatment process and monitoring the human condition. Young people, as a rule, more actively perceive any novelties and include еthem in their daily life. Is it really so? If we consider Russian young consumers, since foreign experience indicates their rather high interest.Materials and methods of research. The presented study of the perception of the youth audience and readiness to use digital medicine is based on the methodology, proposed by the venture Fund Rock Health, dedicated to digital health. This Fund conducts research, aimed at improving the quality, safety and accessibility of modern medicine. The study is conducted by online survey of consumers who have access to the Internet at home, at work or through cell phones. The questionnaire was adapted for the Russian target audience. The results of the research of the consulting company Accenture, which regularly studies the trends in the consumption of medical technologies with the use of artificial intelligence, robotics and gadgets for self-diagnosis, were used as a factual basis. Data of research of the analytical company CB Insights, forming annual forecasts about the changes in healthcare, and also materials of joint research of the company Econsultancy and the developer of IT technologies for medicine Adobe are considered. The article presents some data of the report of the American company Change Healthcare, which has a strategic partnership with Google Cloud.Results of the research on the one hand, show the high involvement of young people in the field of digital technologies. The survey includes 380 respondents, 89% are smartphone users and 83% regularly visit social networks. However, they are quite wary of digital medicine, requiring the control of personal data. They trust their doctor more than mobile apps and Internet resources; they are reluctant to buy wearables, little understanding of what is telemedicine. They are limited to searching for medical information on the Internet only about services, doctors, medicine and treatment technologies to find out general information.Conclusion. The content analysis shows that digital medicine is becoming a popular trend in the development of modern healthcare. New technologies are being introduced, the key areas of development of which are focused on the Internet of things for medicine (IoT), artificial intelligence, mobile apps, genome editing, telemedicine, blockchain projects and cloud computing. The Russian market is slowly developing. Young consumers are not yet active in the consumption of digital health services and products. The key reasons for this are low awareness of the benefits and concerns about the security of the personal data.

BACKGROUND In recent years, the health care sector has shown increased interest in digital technologies. Digital health applications include e-health, mobile health, telemedicine, big data, and health apps. Acceptance and sustainability play a considerable, although not yet sufficiently well known, role for innovative health care applications. The acceptance of new technologies is measured by using the Technology Acceptance Model, which was applied to health care in this study. OBJECTIVE We conducted an up-to-date empirical evaluation of the spread of and experience with new digital technologies in the medical sector. METHODS The study was based on the EPatient Survey, considered one of the most comprehensive online surveys in the German-speaking region. The survey used standardized questionnaires to provide information about the prevalence, impact, and development of digital health applications in a study sample of 9621 individuals. The average age of respondents in the survey was 59.7 years. The acceptance of new technologies was analyzed further by the identification of the different health application types, evaluation of sociodemographic data, evaluation of the question items in the EPatient Survey, and discussion of the benefits of online health records. RESULTS The results of the questionnaires revealed an increasing tendency of respondents to accept digital health care. This was a representative survey, the findings of which can be applied to the whole of Germany. Nevertheless, the respondents differed clearly regarding their acceptance of digital technologies. This tendency was especially noticeable among men > 60 years old and women < 40 years old. Acceptance of digital applications differs significantly depending on sex. Although men tend to be more likely to accept technical products, women < 40 years old tend to prefer coaching and consultation applications. Acceptance must be differentiated according to sociodemographic factors and to the respective applications, which vary. The respondents were 60 years old on average, with a majority between 44 and 76 years old. It would be interesting to survey users between the ages of 25 and 45 whose willingness to use online applications can generally be rated as high. CONCLUSIONS Widespread acceptance of applications in the health care sector has great potential; however, issues and challenges among respondents must be overcome.Therefore, it is important to integrate governance to appropriately condition the spread and acceptance of health applications.

UNSTRUCTURED Billions of people in the world own a smartphone. It is a low-cost, portable computing device with countless features, among which applications stand out, which are programs or software developed to meet a specific goal. A wide range of applications available ranging from entertainment and personal organization to work and education is available currently. It is a vast and profitable market. Health applications have been a means of intervention for different areas, including chronic diseases, epidemics, and health emergencies. A recently published paper in the journal with the highest impact factor in Digital Health (“Journal of Medical Internet Research”) proposes a classification of health applications. This study performs a critical analysis of this organization and presents other sort criteria. This paper also presents and analyzes the “Meu Info Saúde” (“My Health Info”) app – a pioneering government initiative focused on primary care launched by the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation. The application classification proposal that will be presented builds on the intervention strategies in the health-disease process, namely: “Health Promotion”, “Disease Prevention” and “Care, Treatment and Rehabilitation”, as defined by official documents such as the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Most applications present in the sample are of private and foreign origin, free to download, but with a display of ads or the sale of products and services. The sampled applications were classified as “Health Promotion”, and some applications have also been categorized as “Disease Prevention” or “Care, Treatment or Rehabilitation” because they have multiple functionalities. The applications identified as “Health Promotion” focused only on individuals’ lifestyle and their increased autonomy and self-care management capacity. From this perspective, the apps analyzed in this paper differ from the “Meu Info-Saúde” application developed at Fiocruz.

Abstract Developments in digital health technologies have the potential to expedite and strengthen the path towards recovery for people with psychosis. This perspective piece provides a snapshot of how a range of digital technologies can be deployed to support a young adult’s efforts to cope with schizophrenia-spectrum illness. In conjunction with a day in the life of this individual, we provide examples of innovations in digital health research designed for this clinical population, as well as brief summaries of the evidence supporting the usability, feasibility, or effectiveness of each approach. From early detection to ongoing symptom management and vocational rehabilitation, this day-in-the-life vignette provides an overview of the ways in which digital health innovations could be used in concert to augment, scaffold, and enhance schizophrenia-spectrum illness management and recovery.

PurposeIn the healthcare management domain, there is a lack of knowledge concerning the role of resilience practices in improving patient safety. The purpose of this paper is to understand the capabilities that enable healthcare resilience and how digital technologies can support these capabilities.Design/methodology/approachWithin- and cross-case research methodology was used to study resilience mechanisms and capabilities in healthcare and to understand how digital health technologies impact healthcare resilience. The authors analyze data from two Italian hospitals through the lens of the operational failure literature and anchor the findings to the theory of dynamic capabilities.FindingsFive different dynamic capabilities emerged as crucial for managing operational failure. Furthermore, in relation to these capabilities, medical, organizational and patient-related knowledge surfaced as major enablers. Finally, the findings allowed the authors to better explain the role of knowledge in healthcare resilience and how digital technologies boost this role.Practical implicationsWhen trying to promote a culture of patient safety, the research suggests healthcare managers should focus on promoting and enhancing resilience capabilities. Furthermore, when evaluating the role of digital technologies, healthcare managers should consider their importance in enabling these dynamic capabilities.Originality/valueAlthough operations management (OM) research points to resilience as a crucial behavior in the supply chain, this is the first research that investigates the concept of resilience in healthcare systems from an OM perspective, with only a few authors having studied similar concepts, such as “workaround” practices.

The development of novel digital endpoints (NDEs) using digital health technologies (DHTs) may provide opportunities to transform drug development. It requires a multidisciplinary, multi-study approach with strategic planning and a regulatory-guided pathway to achieve regulatory and clinical acceptance. Many NDEs have been explored; however, success has been limited. To advance industry use of NDEs to support drug development, we outline a theoretical, methodological study as a use-case proposal to describe the process and considerations when developing and obtaining regulatory acceptance for an NDE to assess sleep in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). RA patients often suffer joint pain, fatigue, and sleep disturbances (SDs). Although many researchers have investigated the mobility of joint functions using wearable technologies, the research of SD in RA has been limited due to the availability of suitable technologies. We proposed measuring the improvement of sleep as the novel endpoint for an anti-TNF therapy and described the meaningfulness of the measure, considerations of tool selection, and the design of clinical validation. The recommendations from the FDA patient-focused drug development guidance, the Clinical Trials Transformation Initiative (CTTI) pathway for developing novel endpoints from DHTs, and the V3 framework developed by the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe) have been incorporated in the proposal. Regulatory strategy and engagement pathways are also discussed.

COVID-19 poses a significant burden to healthcare systems. Healthcare organisations with better health innovation infrastructures have faced a reduced burden and achieved success in curbing COVID-19. In Saudi Arabia, digital technologies have played a vital role in fighting SARS-CoV-2 transmission. In this paper, we aimed to summarise the experience of optimising digital health technologies in Saudi Arabia as well as to discuss capabilities and opportunities during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. A literature search was conducted up to September 2021 to document the experience of using DHTPs in Saudi Arabia in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. We also considered any published data, press briefings, and announcements by the MOH in Saudi Arabia. The findings were synthesised in narrative form. Health officials succeeded in optimising and maintaining a strategy to mitigate the spread of the virus via different digital technologies, such as mobile health applications, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The quick digital response in Saudi Arabia was facilitated by governmental support and by considering users and technology determinants. Future research must concentrate on establishing and updating the guidelines for using DHTPs.

The active development of digital technologies has had a significant impact on the educational process. Higher education institutions en masse switch to distance learning courses, vlogs, video hosting, popular science educational platforms. All of these platforms provide lectures in various branches of knowledge, regardless the curriculum, level of education, or even professional orientation. The development of modern media formats implies the possibility of active interaction with content. Can the format of video lecture meet these requirements? Or does the content consumer remain passive and cant influence anything? How long will such training format exist, and what are its prospects? In such rapidly changing conditions of life, the skills of flexibility and adaptation are applied to the educational process and teaching formats likewise. To improve the efficiency of work, everyone, including teachers, lecturers and students, needs to quickly adjust and adapt. The authors of the article attempted to explore the popularity and effectiveness of video lectures, identify the problems related to this form of teaching, and offer some possible solutions to create an educational model of online interaction that would promote the development of communication and learning skills.
