In the paper, the main accent is put on development of software to be used in the BM@N experiment. The experiment is considered as a first step towards a realization of fixed target program at the NICA complex. A brief description of software used for reconstruction of track parameters in the inner tracker of the experiment is presented. The alignment procedure in automatic mode was made using the Millepede package fully integrated in the software. The obtained results illustrate a quality assurance of alignment performed using existing experimental data from experimental runs and recent results, including methodological ones from a tracking procedure, which were used for event reconstruction in the inner tracker. The importance of a precise geometry description and a realistic detector response via micro-simulations done for the GEM part of the inner tracker used for processing experimental data is emphasized. Our recent progress in this activity is discussed.

The search for short-lived particles is usually the final stage in the chain of event reconstruction and precedes event selection when operating in online mode or physics analysis when operating in offline mode. Most often such short-lived particles are neutral and their search and reconstruction is carried out using their daughter charged particles resulting from their decay. The use of the missing mass method makes it possible to find and analyze also decays of charged short-lived particles, when one of the daughter particles is neutral and is not registered in the detector system. One of the most known examples of such decays is the decay Σ− → nπ−. In this paper, we discuss in detail the missing mass method, which was implemented as part of the KF Particle Finder package for the search and analysis of short-lived particles, and describe the use of the method in the STAR experiment (BNL, USA). The method was used to search for pion (π± → μ±ν) and kaon (K± → μ±ν and K± → π±π0) decays online on the HLT farm in the express production chain. An important feature of the express production chain in the STAR experiment is that it allows one to start calibration, production, and analysis of the data immediately after receiving them. Here, the particular features and results of the real-time application of the method within the express processing of data obtained in the BES-II program at a beam energy of 3.85 GeV/n when working with a fixed target are presented and discussed.

Introduction (problem statement and relevance). A promising direction for reducing a vehicle moving energy is the application of adaptive laws for controlling the power supplied to the propeller based on neural networks. To create a training array of the latter, a large set of experimental data is required, the collection of which, as a rule, is carried out by using research stands, such as the “Soil Channel”. But the fi eld studies require a lot of resources.The purpose of the study was to create a wheel rolling mathematical model in the conditions of the stand, with the help of which it would be possible to organize the collection of needed statistical data on the wheel rolling modes by calculation them in an automatic mode.Methodology and research methods. The paper describes the “Soil Channel” bench test, held by the Department of “Multipurpose tracked vehicles and mobile robots” of Bauman Moscow State Technical University. A list of the control and measuring systems components used in the process of its modernization in order to automate the collection of experimental data was considered. The “Soil Channel” stand mathematical model was presented which was based on the use of experimentally obtained dependences of the specifi c longitudinal thrust force on sliding and the specifi c longitudinal thrust force on the specifi c circumferential force.Scientifi c novelty and results. The developed mathematical model has been verifi ed on the basis of the data obtained in the course of fi eld studies. Conclusions were made about the suitability of the developed mathematical model of wheel motion under the stand conditions for conducting virtual experiments.Practical signifi cance. The data obtained by applying the developed mathematical model can be used to create a training array of a neural network to provide the implementation of adaptive laws for controlling the power supplied to the propeller.

AbstractIonising radiation induced DNA damage and subsequent biological responses to it depend on the radiation’s track-structure and its energy loss distribution pattern. To investigate the underlying biological mechanisms involved in such complex system, there is need of predicting biological response by integrated Monte Carlo (MC) simulations across physics, chemistry and biology. Hence, in this work, we have developed an application using the open source Geant4-DNA toolkit to propose a realistic “fully integrated” MC simulation to calculate both early DNA damage and subsequent biological responses with time. We had previously developed an application allowing simulations of radiation induced early DNA damage on a naked cell nucleus model. In the new version presented in this work, we have developed three additional important features: (1) modeling of a realistic cell geometry, (2) inclusion of a biological repair model, (3) refinement of DNA damage parameters for direct damage and indirect damage scoring. The simulation results are validated with experimental data in terms of Single Strand Break (SSB) yields for plasmid and Double Strand Break (DSB) yields for plasmid/human cell. In addition, the yields of indirect DSBs are compatible with the experimental scavengeable damage fraction. The simulation application also demonstrates agreement with experimental data of $$\gamma$$ γ -H2AX yields for gamma ray irradiation. Using this application, it is now possible to predict biological response along time through track-structure MC simulations.

Many sources of evidence inform clinical practice, including research findings, patients' views, and clinical experience. This article describes recent progress in developing what will be the College's first guideline, The Assessment and Management of Violence In Clinical Settings. The design of the programme acknowledges the diversity of evidence in this area, by drawing a distinction between different types of evidence. Evidence is systematically identified and its quality appraised by the Work Group, through commissioning literature reviews. Initial recommendations will be based on experimental data. The methods used to consider non-experimental data, particularly expert opinion, will be described in more detail in a later article in this series.

This paper presents a review of the study of Exclusive Central Production at a center-of-mass energy of [Formula: see text] at the Fermilab Fixed Target program. In all reactions reviewed in this paper, protons with an energy of 800 GeV were extracted from the Tevatron accelerator at Fermilab and directed to a Liquid Hydrogen target. The states reviewed include [Formula: see text], ϕϕ and D*±. Partial Wave Analysis results will be presented on the light states but only the cross-section will be reviewed in the diffractive production of D*±.

We review the recent progress on the calculations on the inclusive forward hadron production within the saturation formalism. After introducing the concept of perturbative parton saturation and nonlinear evolution we discuss the formalism for the forward hadron production at high energy in the leading and next-to-leading order. Numerical results are presented and compared with the experimental data on forward hadron production in [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. We discuss the problem of the negativity of the NLO cross-section at high transverse momenta, study its origin in detail and present possible improvements which include the corrected kinematics and the suitable choice of the rapidity cutoff.

A brief survey is given on the current status of evaluating thermal production of photons from a strongly interacting medium. Emphasis is put on recent progress in assessing equilibrium emission rates in both hadronic and quark–gluon matter. We also give an update on the status of comparing theoretical calculations with experimental data from heavy-ion collisions at the SPS, as well as prospects for RHIC. Finally, applications of photon rate calculations to colorsuperconducting quark matter are discussed.

We describe the ILC detector simulation environment, which features a flexible GEANT4-based detector response program and a Java toolkit for full event reconstruction and analysis. The toolkit is currently being used for detector design and physics analysis for a future e+e- linear collider. The reconstruction components are fully modular and are available for tasks from digitization of tracking detector signals through to cluster finding, pattern recognition, fitting, jetfinding, and analysis.
