The research area is a part of South Serayu Mountain zone, specifically Bregada Kulon Progo. The Bregada Kulon Progo is a product of volcanic activity in the past, which can be seen by the volcanic rock called Old Andesite Formation. The end of the volcanic activity is characterized by the deposition of carbonate rocks which were part of Jonggrangan Formation and Sentolo Formation. The lower part of Sentolo Formation is composed by the mix of carbonate and volcanic materials. The research is carried out by two methods. The first is field method, which is implemented by geological mapping and rock sampling. The second is laboratory method, which is implemented by petrographic method. The petrographic method is implemented by making thin section of the rocks, then observing the thin section with polarization microscope to determine the composition of the rocks. The rock samples are mainly from the lower and middle part of Sentolo Formation, which probably still got the influence of volcanic activity. The benefit of the research is knowing the influence of volcanic activity in the carbonate rocks of Sentolo Formation. The presence of volcanic materials in the lower part of Sentolo Formation, can be predicted by two processes. First, the volcanic activity supplied those materials directly, and second, from the rework of the volcanic materials then mixed with carbonat materials of Sentolo Formation.

This study aims to determine the limestone facies and diagenesis on Tondo Formation. The method used was petrographic method bypolarizing microscope. Based on the physical characteristics and biota contained, the carbonate rocks on tondo formation (Tmtl) can be grouped into two facies, namely: Wackestone and Packestone. The diagenesis process that occurred in Tondo Formation research area is microbial micritization, cementation and neomorphism which indicate that the Tondo Formation has existed on diagenetic environment of marine phreatic, meteoric phreatic and meteoric vadose.

Kecamatan Montasik terdiri dari 2 formasi yaitu Formasi Gunungapi Lam Teuba berumur Pliosen Akhir sampai Plistosen Akhir dan Formasi Anggota Padangtiji berumur Pliosen Awal sampai Pliosen Tengah. Litologi Formasi Anggota Padangtiji terdiri dari konglomerat, batulanau, batupasir gampingan dan batu gamping. Lingkup penelitian ini meliputi kajian tentang kondisi geologi permukaan dan analisis lingkungan pengendapan sedimen karbonat pada lokasi penelitian. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pengambilan data langsung di lapangan dan menganalisis petrologi dan petrografi pada sampel batuan. Litologi pada lokasi penelitian terdiri dari 7 satuan yaitu guguran lava, lava andesit, lapili jatuhan piroklastik, tuf jatuhan piroklastik, konglomerat, batugamping terumbu dan batupasir gampingan. Lingkungan pengendapan sedimen karbonat yang terdapat pada lokasi penelitian terbentuk di laut dangkal (reef) pada kedalaman 0 m - 200 m di bawah permukaan laut. Zona fasies pengendapan batugamping pada lokasi penelitian terendapkan pada zona platform margin sands  dan organic buildups. Sedangkan zona fasies terumbu pada lokasi penelitian terdapat pada zona reef front. Montasik district consists of two formations, Gunungapi Lam Teuba Formation aged Late Pliocene – Late Pleistocene and Padangtiji Member aged Early Pliocene – Middle Pliocene. Lithology of Padangtiji Member consists of conglomerate, siltstone, carbonate sandstone, and limestone.  The scope of this research includes a study of surface geological conditions and depositional environmental analysis of carbonate sediment. The method used in this study is direct data collection in the field and analyzing petrology and petrography in rock samples. Lithology of the research area consists of lava drop, andesit, lapili pyroclastic, tuff pyroclastic, conglomerate, fosilliferous limestone, and carbonate sandstone. Depositional environment in the research area formed at shallow marine (reef) on 0m-200m depth under sea level. Depositional facies zone in the research area is on the margin sands platform zone and organic buildups, while Reef facies zone contained in reef front zone.Keywords: Geological Mapping, Depositional Environment, Carbonate Rocks, Petrography, Montasik

Oral route is presently the gold standard in the pharmaceutical industry where it is regarded as the safest, most economical and most convenient method of drug delivery resulting in highest patient compliance. Over the past three decades, orally disintegrating tablets (FDTs) have gained considerable attention due to patient compliance. Usually, elderly people experience difficulty in swallowing the conventional dosage forms like tablets, capsules, solutions and suspensions because of tremors of extremities and dysphagia. In some cases such as motion sickness, sudden episodes of allergic attack or coughing, and an unavailability of water, swallowing conventional tablets may be difficult. One such problem can be solved in the novel drug delivery system by formulating “Fast dissolving tablets” (FDTs) which disintegrates or dissolves rapidly without water within few seconds in the mouth due to the action of superdisintegrant or maximizing pore structure in the formulation. The review describes the various formulation aspects, superdisintegrants employed and technologies developed for FDTs, along with various excipients, evaluation tests, marketed formulation and drugs used in this research area.

Although the second language (L2) acquisition of morphology by late L2 learners has been a popular research area over the past decades, comparatively little is known about the acquisition and development of morphology in children who learn English as a foreign language (EFL). Therefore, the current study presents the findings from a longitudinal oral production study with 9/10-year-old L1 Croatian EFL students who were followed up at the age of 11/12. Our results are largely in line with the limited research so far in this area: young EFL learners have few issues using the be copula and, eventually, the irregular past simple forms, but had considerable problems with accurately supplying the 3rd person singular -s at both data collection points. We also observed a be + base form structure, especially at the earlier stage, which appears to be an emergent past simple construction.

Nowadays there are hundreds of thousands known plant species on the Earth and many are still unknown yet. The process of plant classification can be performed using different ways but the most popular approach is based on plant leaf characteristics. Most types of plants have unique leaf characteristics such as shape, color, and texture. Since machine learning and vision considerably developed in the past decade, automatic plant species (or leaf) recognition has become possible. Recently, the automated leaf classification is a standalone research area inside machine learning and several shallow and deep methods were proposed to recognize leaf types. From 2007 to present days several research papers have been published in this topic. In older studies the classifier was a shallow method while in current works many researchers applied deep networks for classification. During the overview of plant leaf classification literature, we found an interesting deficiency (lack of hyper-parameter search) and a key difference between studies (different test sets). This work gives an overall review about the efficiency of shallow and deep methods under different test conditions. It can be a basis to further research.

Over the years, Nigerian researchers in environmental engineering and chemistry have been evaluating a variety of technologies for the remediation of petroleum industry polluted surface and groundwater. In this mini-review, the recent advances in this regard over the past two years were evaluated. This was done as an appraisal of research efforts to understand the current research trend and gain a proper perspective of the required/needed future approach in the research area. It was observed that most studies are still focusing on evaluating the problems instead of finding actual solutions. Development of workable and novel solutions are urgently needed. It can be in the form of better remediation techniques or via the development of alternative technologies for utilizing the waste/pollutant materials. The paper has given a clear opinion on the progress of environmental protection and sustainability in the Nigerian context. The environmental regulations scenario in the country is marred by malpractices and corruption more stringent policy enforcement will help in the achievement of environmental protection.

Due to the narrow window of ideal moisture conditions required for collecting undisturbed soil samples from hardsetting horizons in the field, this study compared the efficiency of an alternative method of soil core removal in the laboratory with that of the traditional field method by using measurements of soil bulk density data (Db). In a first sampling, cylinders were removed with a soil sampler in the field. In a second sampling, large soil blocks were removed with Kubiena-type zinc (brass) boxes in the field. Volumetric core cylinder samples were removed from these blocks in the laboratory with a manual hydraulic pump. There were no differences between the Db values determined from the laboratory and the field coring method. The laboratory method was considered more efficient than the field method because it allowed reductions in the errors made by operators in the field, and those caused by differences in soil water content. The laboratory method allows sampling in hardsetting horizons throughout the year, and collecting soil core samples under conditions of controlled moisture and applied force.

The Geological Survey of Greenland (GGU) continued in 1986 the systematic investigation of the geology of Greenland. The work comprises geological mapping and basic research as well as applied geology and geophysics (fig. 1). The long term purpose is to establish the necessary geological background for evaluation of the potential of the non-living resources. The scientific and technical staff of 112 based in Copenhagen and 87 participating in the field work in Greenland carried out programmes of geological mapping and investigation, glaciological investigations, and mineral and oil assessments which included geochemical and geophysical methods. In April 1986 GGU celebrated its 40th anniversary. A special publication dedicated to GGU's former director, K. Ellitsgaard-Rasmussen, was issued which covers different aspects of the Survey's work in the developments in Greenland geology over the past ten years.

Geometries of excavated tunnel portal slopes at Bagong Dam site was initially designed without taking into account earthquake load. The excavated slope designs also assumed the rocks consisting the slopes were homogenous. The purpose of this research was to evaluate stability of the excavated tunnel inlet and outlet slopes at the Bagong Dam site under static and earthquake loads using finite element method. Stability of the natural slopes was also analyzed for comparison. The numerical static and pseudostatic analyses of slope stability were carried out using RS2 software (Rocscience, Inc.). Input data used in the numerical analyses were obtained from engineering geological mapping, rock core analyses, and laboratory tests. Seismic coefficient applied in the pseudostatic slope stability analyses was determined following guideline described in Indonesian National Standard. The engineering geological mapping and evaluation of rock cores indicated that the inlet tunnel slope consisted of four types of materials, namely residual soil, poor quality of volcanic breccia, very poor quality of volcanic breccia, and good quality of volcanic breccia. The outlet portal slope consisted of six types of materials, namely residual soil, very poor quality of limestone, poor quality of limestone, very poor quality of volcanic breccia, poor quality breccia, and good quality breccia. Based on the secondary elastic wave velocity (Vs) values, the rock masses in the research area were classified as hard rock (SA). Seismic analyses based on the earthquake hazard source map with 10% probability of exceedance in 50 years provided by the National Earthquake Center (2017) indicated that the PGA and the corresponding amplification factor FPGA in the research area were 0.3 and 0.8, respectively. The calculated seismic coefficient for the pseudostatic slope stability analyses was 0.12. The numerical analysis results showed that, in general, earthquake load reduced critical Strength Reduction Factor (SRF) values of the slopes. However, the natural and excavated tunnel portal slopes were relatively stable under static and earthquake loads. The natural slope at the tunnel inlet with a 40° inclination had critical SRF value of 4.0, while that of at the tunnel outlet with a 51° inclination had critical SRF value of 2.6. Under static load, the excavated slopes at the tunnel inlet and outlet having a 45° inclination had critical SRF values of 2.4 and 5.0, respectively. Under earthquake load, the excavated slopes at the tunnel inlet and outlet had critical SRF values of 2.3 and 3.5, respectively.

Abstract. This paper describes the landslides and slope stability evaluation in the urban area of Kruja town, Albania. Kruja is a~historical and heritage center, due to the existence of many important cultural monuments including Skanderbeg castle and Bazaar square etc. The urban area of Kruja town has been affected from the Landslides effects, in the past and also present. From this phenomenon many engineering objects such as buildings, roads etc. are damaged and demolished. From the engineering geological mapping at scale 1 : 5000 it is observed that many active landslides have dramatically increased in activity after 1980s. The landslide types found in the studied area are earth slides, debris flow, as well as rock fall and rock rolling. Also, from field works and laboratory analysis, the slope stability of whole urban areas has been determined; for this purpose the studied zone is divided into the stable and unstable areas, which helps to better understand the mass movement's activity as one of the most harmful hazards of the geodynamics' phenomena.
