The conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic have led to difficulties in teaching students majoring in psychology, and the need to develop recommendations for universities to improve the system of distance learning at higher education institutions. Training of practical psychologists requires mandatory full-time participation in sessions of psychological counseling, passing supervision, familiarization with the leading areas of psychological counseling and psychotherapy, psychodiagnostics, and psychocorrective measures. These aspects are complicated by the restrictions caused by the pandemic, which complicates also the subsequent internship based on psychological centers, and the need to conduct practical training courses in a remote format. The purpose of the present research is to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of distance learning for students majoring in psychology as well as university teachers in the context of the pandemic. The developed recommendations will be useful for improving the learning process of students of psychological specialties at higher education institutions. The proposed recommendations concern changes in the schedule of the university curriculum, and providing qualified support to teachers and students from the university’s psychological service and administration, implementing master classes for university practitioners, providing free access to video recordings of sessions of leading psychology consultants, as well as free practical online conferences and webinars of professional psychological and psychotherapeutic communities.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to determine the students’ opinion on their proficiency in one or more foreign languages, and the importance they attribute to their foreign language competence because the adaptation to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) implies the promotion of the mobility of teachers and students. Design/methodology/approach – A qualitative and quantitative approach conducted at the University of Extremadura in Spain. The method used was to triangulate the data resulting from three quite different procedures: promoting the participating students’ awareness of the issue through a seminar on the importance of mastering other languages and their relevance for graduate employability; inquiring into the students’ impressions when receiving an English class with a focus group; and a questionnaire on their opinions about the importance of proficiency in foreign languages. Findings – The findings highlight how teaching in English in European universities could bring real opportunities for the development of the EHEA. Furthermore, the development of foreign languages competences have to be a priority line of innovation in higher education in order to build a more meaningful relationship between education institutions and the European project. Research limitations/implications – The study is a first attempt to analyse the need to teach in English in European higher education institutions. Results are not completely generalizable because the study has been conducted in one university, in the field of social sciences in the branch of Economics and Business, and it has been examined only the views of students. Originality/value – The paper draws attention to the need for, and suggestions on how higher education institutions can be more aware to the needs of developing studentś English competences when designing programmes in the EHEA.

The global pandemic of the virus COVID-19 dramatically has impacted Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and worldwide. HEIs were forced to switch overnight to online lectures and exams without almost any teachers' and students' preparation and education. After one year of online classes at the University of Mostar (SUM), whether that kind of teaching impacts creativity. In order to find the answer to the research question, the authors used a questionnaire they developed and applied in 2015 to investigate students' perceptions about creativity at the University of Mostar. The research presented in this paper is limited to SUM students who have had online classes since March 2020. The primary research goal is to investigate whether there are any significant changes in students' perceptions of creativity compared to research from 2015. Namely, the authors investigate whether the enhanced use of IT and online platforms (Google Meet, SUMARUM – the University of Mostar’s variant of Moodle) affected students' creativity. This article examines the process of transition of the higher education system to distance learning in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the uniform transition to distance learning, higher education institutions differ in the strategy of its organization. As a result, an analysis was made of the country's higher educational institutions and the measures they have taken to transfer teachers and students to online education. The analysis highlighted a number of challenges faced by higher education institutions during the transition to a new format of distance learning, including the lack of infrastructure and material and technical base, difficulties in adapting training materials to the new format, lack of staff qualifications and experience of remote work. Taking into account the above problems, the pandemic showed the need for additional budgetary funds for the development of a digital educational environment, professional development of the teaching staff, as well as for the creation of jobs at universities for students who lost their jobs during the crisis, which allowed them to pay for tuition and related costs. Thus, given all the abovementioned difficulties in the transition to distance learning, for the full functioning of higher education institutions and to prevent a potential increase in unemployment, an increase in costs is necessary. This article also discusses proposals on the need to make appropriate changes in management and financial models in the field of education.

Modern higher education (including pharmaceutical) is inextricably linked with the use of new information and communication technologies in the educational process. In the current conditions, the question arose about the implementation of educational programs in accordance with the federal state educational programs of higher education with the help of mixed (hybrid) training, which involves a combination of traditional (full-time) and distance learning. One of the forms of e-learning used as part of hybrid learning is Learning Management Systems (LMS), created on the basis of Internet technologies. LMS MOODLE is most often used in Russian universities. At Kursk State Medical University, the LMS MOODLE system has been actively used for many years as a platform for distance learning in the organization of continuing medical education courses. At the Faculty of Pharmacy, LMS MOODLE was used in organizing and conducting training practices in botany. To organize and conduct practical training in the LMS MOODLE system, a training course «Educational field practice in botany» was created. For each day, separate sections were organized, in which the necessary information for students was placed. In general, the following LMS MOODLE elements were used to create a training course on educational practice: «SCORM Package», «Test», «Task», «Hyperlink», «File», «Folder», «Forum», «Chat». Analysis of the use of LMS MOODLE showed that this system can be used quite successfully for the organization of the educational process as an element of e-learning and allows you to control the assimilation of educational material.

In the second decade of the XXI century, the introduction of electronic and digital devices in all links of public relations reached an outstanding scale, which was also noted in the educational process of higher education institutions. The development of the modern educational environment of the university is impossible without the use of digital learning tools (CSOs) such as: distance learning platforms (EQUITY MAPS, GOOGLE CLASSROOM, MOODLE), mobile digital applications (CLASTIME, LEARNINGAPPS, QUIZIZZ) and online communication platforms (GOOGLE MEET, ZOOM, WEBEX). A special place in the context of the introduction of CSR belongs to medical education, where the level of personal training of the applicant (theoretical and practical) is very important in the context of saving human lives. Digital learning tools allow you to use the features of a modern applicant with his constant stay in the digital space for the purpose of training before the introduction of restrictive measures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The educational process should not stop, and applicants should receive a high-quality education, but it is necessary to maintain a balance between classroom and distance forms of knowledge and skills transfer. The educational technology of mixed learning can come to the aid of participants in the educational process. This training technology is quite new and dynamically developing, it is indispensable for full-time training. This educational technology of providing educational services combines the best aspects and advantages of teaching in the classroom and interactive or distance learning, creates accessible courses for educational applicants, in which the educational process is a system, consists of different parts that function in constant interrelation with each other, forming an integral educational environment of the university.
