The development of the Internet and sophisticated search engines such as e.g. Google together with the spread of social networks have introduced new marketing possibilities of addressing potential clients with offer of goods and services. Unlike most traditional marketing procedures, these instruments allow for targeting the business information directly at concrete individuals, taking into consideration their age, sex, education, hobbies. All this is based on their choice of words keyed into the search engines. This is the targeted advertising where consumer response can be accurately measured, e.i. the so called context advertising. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the legal aspects of some of the above mentioned internet marketing instruments, as even in this sphere legal regulation clearly lags behind the dynamically developing possibilities of the Internet as a means of communication. These marketing methods being viewed from the perspective of valid laws, several problem areas may be detected, which concern the right of privacy protection of natural person, intellectual property, or legal regulation of implied or unsolicited advertising. This paper concentrates on the summary of rules of law which regulate internet users privacy protection with respect to the Czech and Community laws, assessment of their efficiency and de lege ferenda discretion.

As populist campaigns against the media become increasingly common around the world, it is ever more urgent to explore how journalists adopt and respond to them. Which strategies have journalists developed to maintain the public's trust, and what may be the implications for democracy? These questions are addressed using a thematic analysis of forty-five semistructured interviews with leading Israeli journalists who have been publicly targeted by Israel's Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. The article suggests that while most interviewees asserted that adherence to objective reporting was the best response to antimedia populism, many of them have in fact applied a “strategic bias” to their reporting, intentionally leaning to the Right in an attempt to refute the accusations of media bias to the Left. This strategy was shaped by interviewees' perceived helplessness versus Israel's Prime Minister and his extensive use of social media, a phenomenon called here “the influence of presumed media impotence.” Finally, this article points at the potential ramifications of strategic bias for journalism and democracy. Drawing on Hallin's Spheres theory, it claims that the strategic bias might advance Right-wing populism at present, while also narrowing the sphere of legitimate controversy—thus further restricting press freedom—in the future.

AbstractReviewing and rating are important features of many social media websites, but they are found on many e-commerce sites too. The combination of social interaction and e-commerce is sometimes referred to as social commerce to indicate that people are supporting each other in the process of buying goods and services. Rgeviews of other consumers have a significant effect on consumer choice because they are usually considered authentic and more trustworthy than information presented by a vendor. The collaborative effort of consumers helps to make the right purchase decision (or prevent from a wrong one). The effect of reviews has often been researched in terms of helpfulness as indicated by their readers. Images are an important factor of helpfulness in reviews of experience goods where personal tastes and use play an important role. We extend this research to search goods where objective characteristics seem to prevail. In addition, we analyze potential interaction with other variables. The empirical study is performed with regression analyses on 3,483 search good reviews from Amazon.com followed by a matched pair analysis of 186 review pairs. We find that images have a significant positive effect on helpfulness of reviews of search goods too. This is especially true in case of short and ambiguous reviews.

The information market has distinctive features in comparison with the market for industrial products due to the specificity of the object of market relations - an information product. An information product in a market environment becomes a commodity, while retaining the properties inherent in information. Based on the general definition of the market, the information market is a system of economic relations arising on the basis of commodity and money circulation, which cover the sphere of exchange, production, distribution and consumption of information goods and services. The informatization of society is inextricably linked with the emergence and development of the market for information products and services, which is a system of economic, legal and organizational relations in the field of free purchase and sale of intellectual labor goods and services between various business entities and consumers. This market, like other markets, is characterized by a certain range of products and services, conditions and mechanisms for their provision, prices. The characteristic features of market relations are: the presence of competition, free choice of partners, mutual agreements of the exchanging parties, equivalent exchange of goods and funds, etc., which provides an opportunity for an effective solution to socio-economic problems. Information products act as goods of intellectual labor in this market: knowledge, documents, information systems, information technology, licenses, patents, trademarks, know-how, engineering and technical services, various kinds of information and other types of information resources. The information resource market functions similarly to traditional markets, but under the influence of its characteristics, elements of novelty appear in the process of forming demand, supply and pricing for an information product.

Central venous catheters are used for various purposes in the operating room. Generally, the use of ultrasound to insert a central venous catheter is rapid and minimally complicated. An advanced venous access (AVA) catheter is used to gain access to the pulmonary artery and facilitate fluid resuscitation through the internal jugular vein. The present report describes a case in which ultrasound was used in a 43-year-old man to avoid complications during insertion of an AVA catheter with a relatively large diameter. The sheath of the catheter was so thin that a dilator was essential to prevent it from folding upon insertion. Despite the use of ultrasound guidance, the AVA catheter sheath became folded within the patient’s internal jugular vein. Mechanical complications of central venous catheter insertion are well known, but folding of a large-bore catheter in the internal jugular vein has rarely been reported.
