When Sweden began to experience a steady decline in student achievement results in PISA and TIMMS, the Swedish National Agency of Education initiated a model of collaboration with Swedish universities aimed at providing support to schools with falling student achievement scores. In this article, we examine how such projects can work at the local school level. Our focus is mainly on how knowledge construction can be realized for teachers and principals; we reflect on whose knowledge is valued, and we explore what role research texts play in school improvement. Working within the frames of both social and cultural processes, we looked at how teachers and principals are provided opportunities to develop and define their own professional understanding of school improvement. We found that knowledge construction of school improvement, as both a political and cultural process, needed to be based on local needs. The guidance of a knowledgeable other in interpreting research literature on school improvement can support such knowledge construction only when the local needs and history are part of the process.

With more rigorous standards and testing at the forefront of educational reform across the nation, the rural school district in this study developed a strategic compensation plan with bonus pay based on student test scores as a teacher success incentive. A causal-comparative study was conducted to examine the effect of teacher merit pay levels on teacher effectiveness and student achievement within a rural school district. The study also considered if there is a difference among the teacher effectiveness levels and student achievement scores and certain moderating variables including content area, years of experience, gender, and education level. One-way ANOVA analysis determined student achievement scores were significantly lower when the teacher did not qualify for a bonus than at any and every other bonus level. Linear regression analyses found significant moderation effects for years of experience, education level, and content area, but not for teacher gender.

Americans have always viewed education as an instrument for the common good as well as for individual enhancement. Today, with chronically low student achievement scores, this view has been questioned by the populace. School leaders have come under close scrutiny concerning district and/or building operations Local citizens have not only called for teacher accountability in the classroom, but have also increased the accountability call for administration as they demand evidence of school excellence amidst increased property taxes. Although educators have received the brunt of the accountability exchanges, basically a function of increasing educational expenditures and decreasing student achievement scores, responsibility for educational success or failure does not rest solely on the shoulders of educators. Citizens need to acquire a true understanding of accountability and become part of an effective accountability network. The administration must then assume the critical role in establishing a workable accountability network to initiate continuity of operations leading to school success. The questions then become: (1) What is accountability in education? (2) What is an effective accountability network? (3) What leadership role does the principal play in the accountability process?

This research study was designed to compare student achievement scores from three different testing methods: paper-administered testing, computer-administered testing, and computerized adaptive testing. The three testing formats were developed from the California Assessment Program (CAP) item banks for grades three and six. The paper-administered and the computer-administered tests were identical in item content, format, and sequence. The computerized adaptive test was a tailored or adaptive sequence of the items in the computer-administered test.

Organizing learning from home in an emergency of the spread of Covid -19. It requires educators to use creative learning models that focus on students, one of which is Discovery-based Virtual Learning (DVL). This study aims to analyze the effect of using DVL on student achievement. This study used a 2x2 factorial design. This research's data analysis technique is divided into two types, namely the prerequisite analysis test and hypothesis testing. The research results concluded that students who learn with DVL are significantly higher than Direct Instruction (DI). The next result is that students who have high initial knowledge get high learning achievement scores. Meanwhile, this study's results also showed a significant interaction between the learning model and initial knowledge of student achievement in foodborne disease competencies.
