This overview introduces the book’s aim of showing how quantum theory marks a radical break from previous scientific theorizing: We are warranted in accepting the fundamental status within contemporary physics of a theory that posits no new physical entities or magnitudes of its own. By contrast with existing interpretations that attempt to say how the world could possibly be the way quantum theory says it is, a pragmatist takes understanding quantum theory to be a matter of knowing how it is applied, and how the theory’s various elements function in these applications. So Part I of the book offers a simple, self-contained presentation of quantum theory, emphasizing applications; while Part II says why the quantum revolution matters for philosophy. Coming to terms with the quantum revolution involves adopting views of scientific theorizing, probability, causation, explanation, objectivity, meaning, and fundamentality that philosophers should have arrived at without its prompting.

Like many other countries in the world, Vietnam is facing the problem of housing for the poor. Though, a lot of money and effort have been poured into these projects, but often it falls into a very bad situation, which is unstable: the community rapidly come back to poverty, people cannot self-recover and develop on their own after withdrawal of project teams, ect. In the field of Architecture and Planning, there is a fairly common method, which is "participatory methods". But by failing to understand the essence and not knowing how to operate the method in practice, the projects for the poor have little success. This paper introduces the following two areas: The Community "Participation Design" concept we have just implemented in a poor neighborhood of Tam Ky, Vietnam. Through the lessons of Tam Ky, the shift of participation concept is summarized: from passive to active community. In this way, the Community initiates and implements its initiative to change its habitat, make it better and more sustainable.

Eric Mack defends a version of John Locke’s proviso. Mack applies his proviso to original appropriations, uses, and systems of private property. His proviso precludes severely disabling the world-interactive powers of others. Mack specifically warns against using concrete features of the natural world as a baseline for determine whether the proviso has been violated. While his proviso is plausible, I argue that he cannot. eschew employing the receptivity of the natural, unowned world to the extent that he suggests. We cannot determine whether one’s powers are disabled or diminished without knowing how receptive the world would be to those powers had a system of private property not arisen. The upshot of this paper is that the requirements of a well-formulated proviso is an empirical matter.

In order to protect the health of their citizens, many governments decided to take a huge risk in implementing lockdowns all over the world, knowing how much it could affect the economy. The thought that choosing the most direct measure to cope with the pandemic in order to save their populations was one of the hardest and the governments cannot be blamed for it. The paper moves forward to correlate the links between mass shut downs affecting the economy with the effects registered by the export-oriented companies in Bihor County, Romania, and the measures that the Romanian Government took. Based on the data provided by AJOFM, the Bihor county employment agency, for the following months – March, April, May, several factors like the number of companies in export-oriented industries, the number of employees, the amount of money that the Government paid, will be analyzed.

This chapter has two main tasks. First, it argues that Wittgenstein’s position shows how language is grasped prepredicatively as a linguistic form of knowing-how. Having considered the link between rule-following and customs or institutions – activities lacking the rational transparency of paradigmatically intellectual activities – it takes Wittgenstein’s discussions of the limits of justification, which imply that justification is grounded in a stratum of language-games preceding justification, as a model in to develop an account of prepredicative language use. Second, it shows how Wittgenstein’s views complement Merleau-Ponty’s and Heidegger’s in filling out the Heideggerian framework, before summarizing how the resultant phenomenological conception of language defines language’s role in world disclosure by combining a general picture of language as language-in-the-world with a specific view of linguistic signs’ disclosive function, as instruments characterized by both presentational and pragmatic sense.

Missiology is a relatively new discipline insofar as the Church in North America is concerned. Consequently, members of the ASM have a special and vital interest in knowing how Christians in other parts of the world are reflecting on the missionary task. Dr. Costas, who has been a widely-recognized, successful evangelist throughout Latin America, has recently moved to the center of the stage as a leading missiologist of that part of the world. Through this survey he not only introduces us to the manner in which the Latin American Church approaches its task and makes us aware of its growing creativity, but he also awakens in us a desire to know of other parts of the world and the missiological thought that has begun to emerge.
