The Chemical Hygiene Officer must play an active role and have a strong presence in the lab, providing feedback and expertise and keeping lines of communication open between lab workers and management. The efficient facility run with good administration reflects a superior understanding of division of labor and conflict of interest. Although the operation may be seen from the outside as a large, well-lubricated machine, it is made up of many smaller parts and “safety” is one of the key lubricants.

The trinomial of the scope, quality, budget and timeline, is an objective by excellence, pursued by those with an active role in the production process, to which the construction sector is no stranger. The ideal is to ensure the satisfaction of the three parameters/variables, by those who seek construction services: Project Owner. Why the Scope is not reached?! The causes are divided in two levels: insufficient training, rooted in the Sector, that favours informality; and, lack of data to understand the causes, resulting in no definition or application of corrective measures (good practices guides). The focus of this article is the 'small endeavours', managed by: (1) Real Estate Developer, in control of the different phases, from municipal licensing, through the project and construction license, the remaining will be undertaken by a Builder or Investor, for subsequent sale; or (future) Owner without control of the initial decisions; the concerns of the latter are bound by the binomial Timeline and Budget; or, (2) P.O., from the outset, take control of all phases, always faithful to his idea of the Scope; introduces adjustments and changes defending his point of view or interest without the perception of the real impact of those on the overall satisfaction, focused on the fulfilment of quality achieved.

Documenting lab activity promotes safety, provides data useful in safety analysis and planning and creates a paper trail that can be used as evidence of compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Whether in academia or industry, the chemical laboratory must operate in compliance with a large number of regulations. Laboratory records play a large part in incident and accident investigation. Records and documents should be created with very specific goals in mind. They should be designed to meet these goals, preferably by those who ultimately will use them and be “standardized,” as much as possible. They should be subject to change control and retained for a prescribed period of time under conditions that will maintain their integrity. Having approved, written standard operating procedures (SOPs) in place for routine laboratory unit operations provides lab management with another way to leverage safety at the bench level.

Absract:The EEES represents a major shift from traditional educational models in the University education system. The student takes an active role in their learning and the teacher becomes a in the guide the teaching-learning process. Besides this skills related to teamwork and interpersonal relationships (student-student, student-teacher and teacher-teacher ) become more important. In this paper we propose to develop some tools that allow us to evaluate the Student’s Good Practices relating more directly with student-student relationships and cooperative learning. Also deepen the process of adaptation of the Inventory of Good Practices in University Students, original by Chickering and Schlossberg (1995). In the context of the European Higher Education, this questionnaire has been translated into Portuguese and adapted for use with university students by Pinheiro (2007, 2008). Likewise, it has been used to establish intercultural studies, establishing the similarities and differences in the good practices associated with Portuguese and Spanish students (Gonzaga, Gozalo and Pinheiro, 2011). The aim of this study is to estimate the psychometric properties of two scales of the Spanish version of the Inventory of Good Practices in University Students: Work cooperatively with peers and Management of Personal and Social Resources. We have a group of 610 University of Extremadura´s students. Their responses to the inventories was subjected to analysis of reliability and validity: construct validity was assessed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, yielding satisfactory results. Keywords: Evaluation of Good Practice Student, University Education, psychometric study, adapting of instrument process.

Spectrin is a membrane associated protein most of which properties have been tentatively elucidated. A main role of the protein has been assumed to give a supporting structure to inside of the membrane. As reported previously, however, the isolated spectrin molecule underwent self assemble to form such as fibrous, meshwork, dispersed or aggregated arrangements depending upon the buffer suspended and was suggested to play an active role in the membrane conformational changes. In this study, the role of spectrin and actin was examined in terms of the molecular arrangements on the erythrocyte membrane surface with correlation to the functional states of the ghosts.Human erythrocyte ghosts were prepared from either freshly drawn or stocked bank blood by the method of Dodge et al with a slight modification as described before. Anti-spectrin antibody was raised against rabbit by injection of purified spectrin and partially purified.

It has been almost universally adopted that dissolution of solids proceeds with development of uniform, continuous frontiers of reaction. However this point of view is doubtful / 1 /. E.g. we have proved the active role of the block (grain) boundaries in the main phases of cement, these boundaries being the areas of hydrate phases' nucleation / 2 /. It has brought to the supposition that the dissolution frontier of cement particles in water is discrete. It seems also probable that the dissolution proceeds through the channels, which serve both for the liquid phase movement and for the drainage of the incongruant solution products. These channels can be appeared along the block boundaries. In order to demonsrate it, we have offered the method of phase-contrast impregnation of the hardened cement paste with the solution of methyl metacrylahe and benzoyl peroxide. The viscosity of this solution is equal to that of water.

Sperm of decapod crustaceans are formed by a round or cup-shaped body, a complex acrosome and one a few appendages emerging from the main body. Although this sperm does not have motility, it has some components of the cytoskeleton like microtubules, which are found inside the appendages. Actin filaments have been found in the spike of penaeidae sperms. The actual participation of the crustacean decapod sperm cytoskeleton during fertilization is not well understood. Actin is supposed to play an active role in drawing the penaeidae shrimp sperm closer to the egg after bending of the spike. The present study was aimed at the localization of actin filaments in sperm of the Robinson Crusoe island lobster, Jasus frontalis and in the crayfish Orconectes propincus, by fluorescent probes and low voltage scanning electron microscopy.

This paper presents a case study of a language-impaired child who signaled the distinction between English singular and plural using suprasegmental cues rather than the usual segmental form used within the parent language. Acoustic analyses performed within the first study in the paper revealed that the suprasegmental features used to maintain this distinction included various duration, fundamental frequency, and intensity parameters. Acoustic analyses Were also performed on a set of matched two- and four-item plural forms within a second study. The results of these analyses indicated that the same acoustic parameters were used to distinguish two-item plural forms from four-item plural forms. This case of linguistic creativity is offered as further evidence in support of the model of language acquisition that emphasizes the active role children take in the acquisition process. Additionally, the phonological, morphological, and psycholinguistic factors that may contribute to such rule invention are discussed.
