This research aims to describe the level of mathematical reasoning ability of students with field-independent cognitive styles in solving algebra problems. The research method used is a qualitative descriptive approach, using qualitative data then described to produce a clear and detailed picture of students' mathematical reasoning with independent field cognitive style in solving algebra problems. The subjects of the research were Class VIII students’ of SMP Negeri 47 Surabaya. The main Instrument in this study is the researchers themselves. Instrument supporters in this research is divided into 2 kinds of Tests, namely the task of problem solving algebra, and guidelines for the interview. Data collection Techniques in the study carried out using two techniques, namely written tests and interviews. The process of data analysis in this study refers to qualitative data analysis process, namely the reduction of data, presenting the data, and draw conclusions. the results of this research indicate that (1) able to conduct an investigation of the problems faced thoroughly, (2) able to plan problem solving by connecting various related information, (3) able to use the strategy chosen correctly and correctly, and (4) able to re-examine, evaluate, and draw valid conclusions based on the solution of the problem obtained. In addition, the results of this study indicate that the level of mathematical reasoning ability of students is in the category sufficient to meet the mathematical reasoning indicators of field-independent cognitive style.

This study aims to improve students' mathematical reasoning abilities in learning mathematics through Problem Solving with Scientific approaches. The subjects in this study were all students of class VIII B, Padamara 1 st junior high school, totaling 33 students. This research was conducted in 3 cycles, each cycle consisting of 2 meetings. Each cycle in this study includes action planning, action implementation, observation and reflection. To measure the ability of mathematical reasoning is evaluated using the mathematical reasoning ability test. Based on the results of the study, the mathematical reasoning ability of the first cycle obtained an average value of 40.9, the second cycle obtained an average value of 60.15, and the third cycle obtained an average value of 63.3. The conclusion obtained from this study is that learning with Problem Solving with the Scientific approach can improve the mathematical reasoning ability of students of class VIII B Padamara 1 N Middle School, especially the subject of Building a Flat Side Room.

Biology learning in MA (Madrasah Aliyah) Khas Kempek was still dominated by teacher with low students’ involvement. This study would analyze the effectiveness of the 5E (Engagement, Exploration, Explanation, Elaboration, Evaluation) learning model in improving scientific knowledge and problems solving. It also explained the relationship between students’ scientific reasoning with their problem-solving abilities. This was a pre-experimental research with one group pre-test post-test. Sixty students of MA Khas Kempek from XI MIA 3 and XI MIA 4 involved in this study. The learning outcome of the students was collected by the test of reasoning and problem-solving. The results showed that the rises of students’ scientific reasoning ability were 69.77% for XI MIA 3 and 66.27% for XI MIA 4, in the medium category. The problem-solving skills were 63.40% for XI MIA 3, 61.67% for XI MIA 4, and classified in the moderate category. The simple regression test found a linear correlation between students’ scientific reasoning and problem-solving ability. This study affirms that reasoning ability is needed in problem-solving. It is found that application of 5E learning model was effective to improve scientific reasoning and problem-solving ability of students.

The aims of this study is to describe students' mathematical reasoning skills in solving problems on relationship materials and functions. Research method is used descriptive qualitative. The research subjects consisted of six students of grade VIII SMP Negeri 51 Palembang with two students with high ability, two medium students and two students with low ability. Data collection is carried out by providing 5 points about tests, interviews, and documentation. This study, using 5 indicators of reasoning, namely analysis, synthesis, generalization, problem solving is not routine, and justification / proof. The results showed that students who have high ability are mostly able to fulfill all aspects of mathematical reasoning ability. As for students who have moderate ability is able to meet two to three aspects of the students' mathematical reasoning ability only. Then for students who have low ability is only able to meet one to two aspects of the student's mathematical reasoning ability.

This study aims to determine whether the mathematical reasoning ability of students who are taught by the problem-solving learning model is effective in terms of the learning motivation of class VII students of SMP Negeri 4 Gorontalo. This type of research is Quasi Experiment with Treatment by level 2 x 2 design using two-way analysis test and Tukey test. The results showed that the mathematical reasoning ability of students who had intrinsic learning motivation in problem-solving learning was 84.13 and the mathematical reasoning ability of students who had intrinsic learning motivation in conventional learning was 67.21. This can also be proven through a test with a significant level of 5% and df = 127 indicating t > t(1,127)(0.05). Obtained t = 4.232 for a = 0.05 obtained t(1,127)(0.05) = 2.80 Thus, the reasoning abilities of students who have intrinsic learning motivation are taught by problem-solving learning more effectively than the reasoning abilities of students who have intrinsic learning motivation are taught by conventional learning.

[English]: This article aims to elucidate the effectiveness of Missouri mathematics project-problem solving learning (MMP-PS) toward mathematical reasoning ability and self-efficacy. We conducted quasi experiment research which involve 132 lower secondary school students (age 14-15 years old) as population. Of the population, 25 students respectively in two classes were selected randomly as experiment class and control class. The experiment class was taught using MMP-PS and a control class was taught using MMP (Missouri mathematics project learning). To examine the effectiveness of MMP-PS and MMP toward mathematics reasoning ability and self-efficacy, data were analyzed using one sample t-test. The difference of students’ mathematical reasoning and self-efficacy before and after the treatment was analyzed using Manova. The comparison of effectiveness of MMP-PS and MMP were analyzed through t-Benferroni test. This article shows that MMP-PS is effective on mathematical reasoning ability and self-efficacy. Meanwhile, MMP is effective on mathematical reasoning ability. The MMP-PS was better than MMP on students’ self-efficacy. Thus, MMP-PS could be utilized in mathematics learning to support students’ mathematical reasoning ability and self-efficacy. Keywords: Missouri mathematics project, Problem solving, Mathematical reasoning, self-efficacy [Bahasa]: Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan keefektifan pembelajaran missouri mathematics projectdengan pendekatan problem solving(MMP-PS) terhadap kemampuan penalaran matematika dan self-efficacy.
