Abstract The Indonesian government has formally determined large-scale coal production to meet economic initiatives. This study uses the documentary method. The study found that coal mining activity has both positive and negative impacts. Coal mining creates environmental damage resulting in conflicts and advantaged and disadvantaged groups. The conflict resolution approach tends to be partial and has not resolved the problems associated with coal mining because the community tends to be victimized. Taking a participatory and inclusive collective action approach is essential to mitigate challenges coal mining entails because environmental problems require diverse stakeholders’ involvement. The commitment of coal mining entrepreneurs and the government’s concrete actions to minimize the negative impacts of coal mining cannot be further delayed which are to ensure the sustainability of Indonesia’s resources, human life, and the natural environment.

Discharging of wastes and toxic pollutants produced by the industrial activities into the natural environment which consist of air, water and land implies the term Industrial Pollution. It has serious consequences on human life and its health along with several ways of negative impacts on the environment and nature. As far as our nation is concerned most of the major cities are filled with these large-scale industries which place a crucial role financial development of a country. Strictly hindering the development of industries cannot be done as it is vital for the Socio-Economic progress of a country. Yet it is our duty to protect our natural environment by limiting the pollution due to industries. This Study consist of the issues occurred in Eloor- Kadungalloor region as result of the industrial pollution followed by policies for a development plan to enhance the natural and environmental conditions with a planning approach at micro study level. As far as the Kerala context is considered, the major spot which is mostly affected by the industrial pollution is the ‘Edayar Industrial belt’ which is the largest industrial belt in Kerala. This became one of most noted spot because of the continuous dumping of dangerous chemical pollutants from adjacent industries (pesticide and fertilizer manufacturing). It has also resulted in health issues for the inhabitants of the site. Though many complaints have been filed against the companies, there has no proper laws or schemes for taking measures for reduction of pollution have come up so far. Hence this paper deals with the application of technical solutions and strategies for an Environment Improvement plan development for an industrial as well as studying on the issues of sire and its inhabitants.

Indonesia is a country with abundant natural resources, including those with enough potential, namely the mining sand industry. Mining on a large scale is good for economic growth, but vice versa on the environmental impacts caused. Environmental damage due to exploitation also occurred in Brumbung village, Kediri district. Environmental damage caused by existing sand mining creates problems that must be claimed by all parties. This paper examines how the impact caused by sand mining activities on the surrounding environment. This type of research is descriptive-qualitative, where the research process and understanding are based on the methodology that investigates a phenomenon. To study this problem, observations and questions and answers were made to the miners, the surrounding community and also the relevant offices. The observed location is around the Brantas River where there are sand mining activities in Brumbung Village, Kepung Subdistrict, Kediri District. research in the area is motivated by the phenomenon of the large number of illegal sand mining in the Brantas river, especially in the self-inflated village, which has many pros and cons in the surrounding community. The environment itself is all things, conditions, conditions and influences that are in the space we occupy and affect the things that live, including human life. Population growth has increased the need for clothing, food, shelter, clean water and energy. This results in higher exploitation of natural resources and tends to neglect environmental aspects. Therefore there is a need for research on the study of environmental impacts, both physical and socio-economic activities of sand mining in the berumbung village, in order to obtain an overview of the environmental impacts that occur or will occur. Later this research is to be taken into consideration in making policies related to the problem of sand mining.

Bangka Belitung faces very serious environmental problems due to illegal tin mining that give negative impacts to the sustainability of ecosystem and human life. Bangka Belitung is the second largest producer of tin in the world and tin mining in Bangka Belitung has been exploited since long time ago (hundred years). Tin mining activity basically increase the wealth of the community but it decrease the environmental stability inshore & offshore.  Taking a case study approach, this study was conducted by reviewing and analyzing various legal instrument and information related to tin mining, the environmental problem, & the community engagement. Beside that, this study addresses the following research questions : What is the background issues relating the case between tin mining and environmental degradation in Bangka Belitung? How do tin mining activity give influence to this environmental degradation? How far is the commitment of enforcing the environmental law in this case in line with the commitment of the society? The result showed there’s effort to provide the environmental law from exploration to post mining reclamation, as well as the the community engagement.  but the implementation is not enough and need more commitment of enforcing the environmental law that give the major environmental degradation in Bangka Belitung Area. The implementation of the law itself need to be supervised by external party and the enforcement need to be increased as well as the coordination between stakeholders to support the Sustainable Development Goals in Indonesia especially in Bangka Belitung.

Many years of coal production have led to significant changes in the stability of the rock mass and the earth's surface in the territory of the coal mining regions of Ukraine. The reasons for such changes are the increase of fracture and decrease of the strength of rocks, stratification and hanging of rocks in the boundary parts of workings, the presence of interstices in the coal-face workings, large-scale subsidence of the earth's surface, underworking of a considerable number of buildings, structures and infrastructure.

Coal is an important resource that has supported China’s economic development. This situation is expected to continue in the immediate future. However, coal mining has also led to serious environmental disasters in some mining areas. Henan Province is one of the 14 large-scale coal bases that are planned by the Chinese state. It is located in the transitional zone between the second and third terrain ladders of China and spans two tectonic units. The geological features and ecological environmental characteristics display wide spatial variations throughout this district, which is an ecologically fragile region of stepped transition type. However, large-scale, extremely intense coal mining activities will inevitably lead to further deterioration of the already fragile ecological and geological (eco-geological) environment, which makes recovery increasingly difficult. Based on the condition of the eco-geological environment and the coal mining industry in the Henan mining area, the mechanisms by which mining-induced damage can occur were analyzed. The characteristics and status of the destruction of ground structures, land resources, water resources, the atmospheric environment, and natural ecology are discussed in this paper. Appropriate mitigation measures are proposed based on the findings. This mainly includes: management practices to prevent and mitigate damage throughout all stages of mining; adoption of mining techniques that will control damage at the source; and, the adoption of appropriate post-mining recovery technologies. The analysis of mining-induced eco-geological environmental damage and mitigation measures is of importance for the prevention of eco-geological disasters, and the promotion of efficient and environmentally sustainable exploitation of coal resources.

There is a growing global need to shift from animal- towards plant-based diets. The main motivations are environmental/sustainability-, human health- and animal welfare concerns. The aim is to replace traditional animal-based food with various alternatives, predominantly plant-based analogs. The elevated consumption of fish and seafood, leads to negative impacts on the ecosystem, due to dwindling biodiversity, environmental damage and fish diseases related to large-scale marine farming, and increased intake of toxic substances, particularly heavy metals, which accumulate in fish due to water pollution. While these facts lead to increased awareness and rising dietary shifts towards vegetarian and vegan lifestyles, still the majority of seafood consumers seek traditional products. This encourages the development of plant-based analogs for fish and seafood, mimicking the texture and sensorial properties of fish-meat, seafood, or processed fish products. Mimicking the internal structure and texture of fish or seafood requires simulating their nanometric fibrous-gel structure. Common techniques of structuring plant-based proteins into such textures include hydrospinning, electrospinning, extrusion, and 3D printing. The conditions required in each technique, the physicochemical and functional properties of the proteins, along with the use of other non-protein functional ingredients are reviewed. Trends and possible future developments are discussed.

Cruel and inhumane acts that harm human life and health, as well as humiliate the dignity, are prohibited in most countries of the world, and Russia is no exception in this issue. The article presents an analysis of the institution of responsibility for torture in the Russian Federation. The author comes to the conclusion that the current criminal law of Russia superficially and fragmentally regulates liability for torture, in connection with which the author formulated the proposals to define such act as an independent crime. In the frame of modern globalization, the world community pays special attention to the protection of human rights, in connection with which large-scale international standards have been created a long time ago. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international acts enshrine prohibitions of cruel and inhumane acts that harm human life and health, as well as degrade the dignity.Considering the historical experience of the past, these standards focus on the prohibition of any kind of torture, regardless of the purpose of their implementation.

Since its evolution environment has remained both a matter of awe and concern to man. The frontier attitude of the industrialized society towards nature has not only endangered the survival of all other life forms but also threatened the very existence of human life. The realization of such potential danger has necessitated the dissemination of knowledge and skill vis-a-vis environment protection at all stages of learning. Therefore, learners of all stages of learning need to be sensitized with a missionary zeal. This may ensure transformation of students into committed citizens for averting global environment crisis. The advancement of science and technology made the life more and more relaxed and man also became more and more ambitious. With such development, human dependence on environment increased. He consumed more resources and the effect of his activities on the environment became more and more detectable. Environment covers all the things present around the living beings and above the land, on the surface of the earth and under the earth. Environment indicates, in total, all of peripheral forces, pressures and circumstances, which affect the life, nature, behaviour, growth, development and maturation of living beings. Irrational exploitation (not utilization) of natural resources for our greed (not need) has endangered our survival, and incurred incalculable harm. Environmental Education is a science, a well-thought, permanent, lasting and integrated process of equipping learning experiences for getting awareness, knowledge, understanding, skills, values, technical expertise and involvement of learners with desirable attitudinal changes about their relationship with their natural and biophysical environment. Environmental Education is an organized effort to educate the masses about environment, its functions, need, importance, and especially how human beings can manage their behaviour in order to live in a sustainable manner.  The term 'environmental awareness' refers to creating general awareness of environmental issues, their causes by bringing about changes in perception, attitude, values and necessary skills to solve environment related problems. Moreover, it is the first step leading to the formation of responsible environmental behaviour (Stern, 2000). With the ever increasing development by modern man, large scale degradation of natural resources have been occurred, the public has to be educated about the fact that if we are degrading our environment we are actually harming ourselves. To encourage meaningful public participation and environment, it is necessary to create awareness about environment pollution and related adverse effects. This is the crucial time that environmental awareness and environmental sensitivity should be cultivated among the masses particularly among youths. For the awareness of society it is essential to work at a gross root level. So the whole society can work to save the environment.

Abstract The actual situation of hard coal mining in Poland has been presented. In particular, these factors, which have impact on the competiveness of mining sector were highlighted and need of its improving has been stressed. Outlining present situation of hard coal mining an attention was paid to its specific threats. The primary analytical material is based on the results of questionnaire conducted among 92 specialists and experts from the mining sector. The questions were related to chances and threats for development of hard coal mining in Poland. The factors determining them were grouped in such domains as economy, technology, geology, social and law aspects. Moreover, the special attention was paid to the problem of increasing and high costs of coal production which constitute significant threat for the financial and economic situation of the mining enterprises. Also the adverse influence of these high cost on the competitiveness of Polish hard coal with other world producers and with other energy carriers was emphasized. The conclusions summarize the achieved results of analysis.

Abstract The main subject of this paper focuses on scientific and research activities conducted in the Institute of Mining Engineering and Safety of the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava. Cooperation between the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava and OKD A.S., the only representative of coal mining in the Ostrava-Karviná coal basin, has recently begun to develop again. This paper describes an example discussed in a certain study, which has been undertaken for the Paskov mine, OKD a.s., dealing specifically with the evolution of microclimate parameters in mines that depend on the progress of mining activity at deeper levels over a period of several years. To this end, a special program, aimed at determination of the necessary refrigerating capacity, was established at the VŠB-Technical University of Ostrava.
