Abstract Particulate matter is one of the threatening pollutants harmful to health. Currently, many researchers focus on the problem of PM2.5 concentrations in urban areas. This study aims to estimate the spatial distribution of PM2.5, and identify human behavior on air pollution in Jakarta. The method used were Spline with Tension to build the PM2.5 models, and multiple linear regression models to analyze human behavior on air pollution. The results showed that the annual average of PM2.5 in the last two years tends to be high in western, southern, and eastern parts of Jakarta. In addition, there was a decrease of PM2.5 concentration in 2020 compared to 2019 assumed as a result of Covid-19 Pandemic restrictions. Besides, analysis results showed a significant association between knowledge and attitude aspects on the action aspect. Based on descriptive analysis, people have good knowledge of air pollution and also concern to reduce air pollution. However, the actions for air pollution control are still not maximized which may cause high PM2.5 concentrations in Jakarta. We conclude that to reduce air pollution, the government should focus on the border areas of Jakarta and it can be done by increasing public knowledge and raising awareness for air pollution.

Introduction: The importance of air quality and paying attention to what we breathe have been valuable always. So that air pollution is one of the key environmental issues in urban communities. Several studies show that the potential effects of air pollution on human health include increased mortality and changes in cardiovascular and respiratory functions.   Materials and methods: The population of this study was people in 22 dis-tricts of Tehran megacity. The questionnaires were placed at the municipality centers of 22 districts and randomly completed by people who came to the center. Questions included the importance of air pollution, the comparison of air quality with last year, the main sources of air pollution, the problems created by air pollution, the quality of informing system, as well as questions about their satisfaction about government’s actions on air pollution control plans. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 24.   Results: 84.14 % of the participants stated that air pollution is important to them and has a negative influence on their lives. Also, most of them were not satisfied with the measures taken and expected that actions would be better to reduce air pollution. 91.10 % of the participants considered cars as the main causes of air pollution. Also, 68.22 % of people believed that air pollution had a significant negative impact on their quality of life.   Conclusion: Most people are willing to live at a higher cost but a less pol-luted environment, while more of them are not well aware of their role in reducing air pollution. Moreover further education should be provided on the role of people in reducing air pollution. Additionally, the government must deal with air pollutants and take serious measures.

Transportation sources are a major contributor to air pollution in urban areas. The role of air quality modeling is vital in the formulation of air pollution control and management strategies. Many models have appeared in the literature to estimate near-field ground level concentrations from mobile sources moving on a highway. However, current models do not account explicitly for the effect of wind shear (magnitude) near the ground while computing the ground level concentrations near highways from mobile sources. This study presents an analytical model based on the solution of the convective-diffusion equation by incorporating the wind shear near the ground for gaseous pollutants. The model input includes emission rate, wind speed, wind direction, turbulence, and terrain features. The dispersion coefficients are based on the near field parameterization. The sensitivity of the model to compute ground level concentrations for different inputs is presented for three different downwind distances. In general, the model shows Type III sensitivity (i.e., the errors in the input will show a corresponding change in the computed ground level concentrations) for most of the input variables. However, the model equations should be re-examined for three input variables (wind velocity at the reference height and two variables related to the vertical spread of the plume) to make sure that that the model is valid for computing ground level concentrations.

Incineration is one of the options available to dispose municipal solid wastes (MSW) as it is capable of breaking down hazardous non-metallic wastes besides destroying bacteria and viruses. In terms of volume of wastes, incineration can reduce almost instantaneously by 90 %. In 1998, the government of Malaysia embarked on a pilot project to use incinerators to dispose MSW in four popular resort islands to see the effectiveness of this technique of waste disposal. Seven units of mini incinerators were installed on the islands and the local municipals were made responsible to manage and maintain.This project looked into the problems arises when incineration is used for MSW disposal on these islands. Data collected revealed that the plants were not properly managed and maintained. This was due to the lack of funds available for effective and smooth operation and the absence of highly expert personnel required to maintain the plant. Other factors that contribute to the inefficiency are inadequate air pollution control facilities and the infrastructure which do not condon the foul odour. Further research work need to be done to monitor the operation of these incinerators in order to explore its potential to dispose waste safely, effectively and cleanly.

The concept of community-based ecotourism is one of the sustainable development concepts suitable to be applied to traditional regions with nature tourism potential. Differences in culture between traditional communities and the outside world are not an obstacle in developing the region because with their local wisdom traditional communities can participate in protecting and managing their natural surrounding and at the same time become an attraction for other communities. However, outside societies can influence the culture of the traditional communities that originally tends to be oriented on biocentrism to shift towards anthropocentrism. This can eventually hamper the continuity of ecotourism development. This can be seen from the traditional communities at Lake Sentani, the case study of the author. The study is based on literature and secondary data and used descriptive analysis. The traditional communities of Sentani do not yet fully participate in the development of tourism in its surroundings. Their involvement in tourism development is more focused on ceremonial activities such as can be seen at the Lake Sentani Festival which is organized every year by the government. Besides this, after coming into contact with modern life the traditional communities of Lake Sentani rarely perform their daily activities based on local wisdom aimed at natural conservation of the lake. The development of urban areas in the surroundings also influences changes in land use in the Lake Sentani region which then causes among others erosion, sedimentation, and pollution of the lake water. Socio-economic and cultural changes in the traditional communities of Sentani and the growth of development also contribute towards ecological change in the area of Lake Sentani, the place they live in.

The gases comprising the atmosphere are in dynamic balance both with the oceans and the dry land of the continents. The mechanisms which operate to keep the atmospheric content of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon and sulphur constant are now well defined. The capacity of the system to absorb excess gaseous impurities is adequate on a global basis with the exception of carbon dioxide.Air pollution is thus a local problem resulting from the overloading of a particular air space with contaminants. The greater part of air pollution is due to the combustion of fossil fuels. Ease of control and virtual freedom from sulphur give natural gas an advantage over liquid and solid fuels as far as air pollution control is concerned. Oxides of nitrogen are produced when natural gas is burned but in smaller quantities than in the combustion of other fuels. In high capacity industrial gas burners where oxides of nitrogen may be generated in large quantities control is easier and can achieve a lower level of oxides of nitrogen than is the case with other fuels.The large scale use of natural gas to solve the air pollution problems of Pittsburgh, Los Angeles and many other cities is proof of the usefulness of gas in this respect. Specialised applications include use in incinerators and industrial after burners. Advances in removal of impurities from fuels and of air pollutants from products of combustion combined with rising gas prices will in time displace gas from its preeminent position in air pollution control. It is, however, likely to retain its advantage in small installations and in dense urban areas. In public and private transport its use will probably remain limited.While technological developments in the distant future may eventually displace fossil fuels, gas will have a large share of the fuel market until that day comes and will contribute effectively to the control of air pollution.

The population in Jakarta continues to increase and the Covid-19 Virus had a huge impact when using Transjakarta buses, The government and the community participate in solving it. Solution is to increase self-awareness The Transjakarta busway corridor 1 is one of the most crowded corridors because there are several transit stops and routes are in urban areas, it’s estimated that corridor serves 500,000 - 600,000 people or more/day, after policies on Covid-19 implemented by the Government such as restrictions the number of passengers on the busway and enforcement of the Health protocol for passengers and officers. The existence of these restrictions causes the effect of transportation travel. This research was conducted to determine the level of awareness of Transjakarta Bus passengers' behavior towards the Health protocol that is applied when carrying out activities outside the home and its effect on travel patterns, the policies realized by Transjakarta busway operator officers. The research data were obtained through questionnaire, then processed by normative and descriptive analysis methods. From the results of the analysis, it was found that passengers and officers were considered to be quite aware and good at implementing existing policies and passengers revealed that this policy affected their travel patterns. ABSTRAKPenduduk di Jakarta terus meningkat dan Virus Covid-19 pun berdampak sekali pada saat menggunakan bus transjakarta, ada kalamya pemerintah dan masyarakat berpartisipasi dalam menyelesaikannya.Salah satu solusinya adalah meningkatkan kesadaran diri-sendiri terhadap hal tersebut.Pada Halte busway tranjakarta koridor 1 ( Blok M – Kota ) merupakan salah satu koridor yang paling ramai karena ada beberpa halte yang transit dan rutenya pun di perkotaan, perkiraan koridor 1 yang melayani 500.000 – 600.000 orang bahkan lebih per hari, Setelah kebijakan-kebijakan tentang Covid-19 yang diterapkan oleh Pemerintah seperti pembatasan jumlah penumpang pada busway dan pemberlakuan protokol kesehatan untuk penumpang maupun petugas. Adanya Batasan-batasan ini menyebabkan pengaruh perjalanan transportasi. Penelitian ini dilakkan untuk mengetahui tingkat kesadaran perilaku penumpang Bus Transjakarta terhadap protokol kesehatan yang diterapkan ketika melakukan kegiatan di luar rumah dan pengaruhnya terhadap pola perjalanannya, juga untuk mengetauhi kebijakan yang direalisasikan oleh petugas operator busway Transjakarta. Data penelitian didapatkan melalui kuesioner, lalu diolah dengan metode analisis normative dan deskriptif. Dari hasil analisis, didapatkan bahwa baik penumpang maupun petugas dinilai sudah cukup sadar dan baik dalam menerapkan kebijakan yang ada dan penumpang mengungkapkan dengan adanya kebijakan ini memperngaruhi pola perjalanannya.

Background: In India, as in many other countries, postpartum family planning is usually initiated after 6 weeks postpartum. Early resumption of sexual activity coupled with early and unpredictable ovulation leads to many unwanted pregnancies in the first year postpartum. Increase in hospital deliveries provides an excellent opportunity to sensitize women and provide effective contraception. Hence the present study was done at our tertiary care centre to assess the knowledge, attitude, practice regarding contraception and to find out the relationship between knowledge and attitude regarding contraception among breast feeding mothers.Methods: A hospital based observational study. The patients admitted at our tertiary care centre in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.Results: Majority of the participants (72%) were in the age group of 21-25 years. 21.2% of the study group was educated up to primary level while 33.2% and 18.4% of the participants studied till SSC and HSC respectively. Majority of participants were from middle class (50%) followed by lower class (36.4%) and upper class (13.6%). 69.6% participants resided in rural areas while 30.4% participants were from urban areas. It was observed that age, education and mode of delivery were the significant factors.Conclusions: As the government gives incentives to couples who opt for permanent sterilization, which is an effective drive, it should also give incentives to couples who follow temporary methods and delay pregnancies. Couples who adopt one child norm or 2 children norm should be encouraged by benefits either in the form of children’s education or health insurance.

The development of industry and the increase of transportation mode are directly proportional to the decrease in air quality. Some important pollutants have a negative impact on human health and the environment such as nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and ozone (O3). Distribution of NO2 and O3 concentrations from various sources of emissions in urban areas will provide basic information in the determination of policies, programs and regulations related to air pollution control. This study aims to map and analyze the concentration distribution of NO2 and O3 pollutants in Medan City. This research was conducted by a manual sampling of NO2 and O3 at 12 (twelve) points in Medan City. The sampling of NO2 and O3 concentrations is using impinger and then analyzed in a laboratory. The results showed that NO2 pollutant concentration in Medan City ranged from 21.33-306.19 |ig/m3. Meanwhile, for O3 concentrations ranged from 19.7-205.8 |ig/m3. Mapping of NO2 and O3 concentration using Geographic Information System obtained area that has the highest concentration of both NO2 and O3 is in Sub District of Medan Belawan. Furthermore, efforts to control air pollution can be done by applying clean technology to industry and encouraging the use of mass transportation.

Title: Community Participation In The Development Of Kampung Warna-warni Teluk Seribu In Balikpapan CityThe growth and development of the city is one of driving factors for the emergence of slums in urban areas. Slums are usually located on the outskirts of the city, an example of which can be found in Balikpapan known as “Kampung Nelayan” slum area. A common condition takes place in other big cities in Indonesia, and this has led the government to formulate programs and policies by issuing government regulations Undang-undang Nomor 1 Tahun 2011 concerning to Housing and Human Settlement Areas. It is stipulated in the regulation that “The management of slums must be carried out by the central Government, local Government and/ or by every individuals”. To improve the welfare and a better life quality, active community participation is needed to build sustainable habitable human settlements. In order to explore more about this concept, a research was conducted at Kampung Nelayan Warna-warni Teluk Seribu. The research aims at learning more about the roles of the community and obstacles encountered in developing Kampung Nelayan Warna-warni Teluk Seribu. The method used is descriptive analysis through observation, interview, literatures study, and related documents. The result of the research shows that community participation plays a successful role in developing Kampung Nelayan Warna-warni Teluk Seribu as one of the tourist attractions in Balikpapan which, then, leads to economic enhancement of local community and Balikpapan city.
