The nativist hypothesis suggests universal features of human behaviour can be explained by biologically determined cognitive substrates. This nativist account has been challenged recently by evolutionary models showing that the cultural transmission of knowledge can produce behavioural universals. Sensorimotor invariance is a canonical example of a behavioural universal, raising the issue of whether culture can influence not only which skills people acquire but also the development of the sensorimotor system. We tested this hypothesis by exploring whether culture influences the developing sensorimotor system in children. We took kinematic measures of motor control asymmetries in adults and children from differing cultures where writing follows opposite directions. British and Kuwaiti adults ( n  = 69) and first grade (5–6 year old) children ( n  = 140) completed novel rightward and leftward tracing tasks. The Kuwaitis were better when moving their arm leftward while the British showed the opposite bias. Bayesian analysis techniques showed that while children were worse than adults, they also showed asymmetries—with the asymmetry magnitude related to accuracy levels. Our findings support the idea that culture influences the sensorimotor system.

Bank is a financial institution that must able to guarantee the funds entrusted by the community. This guarantee related to the ability of banks to maintain their risk levels. As revealed by the theories and previous studies, a bank level of risk taking might determined by the concentration of the ownership, a party that determines the bank management. Additionally compliance in carrying out the principles of openness and the ability of banks to obtain other revenues outside the main business as intermediaries of funds from customers to the creditors also shown to determine the level of bank risk taking. By using multiple regression analysis techniques and observation of data during a period of 5 years, this study found that the level of a bank's risk taking is influenced by the disclosure of information and income diversification. The higher the index the information disclosure and diversification the lower the risk. Ownership concentration has shown the right coefficient direction corresponding to the risk but it is not statistically significant. Key Words: Risk Taking, Ownership Concentrations, Information Disclosure, Bank Income Diversification.

Protruding ureterocele is a very rare case found in the literature. We are reporting a 21 year-old female with an intermittent protruding mass from urethra, accompanied by dysuria, hematuria, and recurrent urinary tract infection. Inspection of the external genitalia revealed a protruding mass from the urethra which could be reduced manually. Excretory urography showed bilateral single collecting systems, grade II hydronephrosis of the right kidney, and a cobra head appearance of the lower right pelvis. The patient was diagnosed with a protruding right ureterocele in a single collecting system, and thus, endoscopic incision of a ureterocele was performed. Ultrasonography which was carried out three weeks after the procedure confirmed no residual hydronephrosis or ureterocele in the bladder. Voiding cystourethrography (VCUG) underwent at a three-month-follow up revealed a grade 5 vesico-ureteral reflux (VUR) on the right side. Surgical reimplantation was then considered. In conclusion, endoscopic incision was safe and yielded good result for protruding ureteroceles, but the need for secondary surgery in several conditions should be considered.

Migraine is characterized by an elevated contingent negative variation (CNV) in adults and children. In the present study the movement-related potential preceding self-initiated movements, the Bereitschaftspotential, was investigated in 30 children (mean age 12 years) who were suffering from migraine and tension-type headache and in 16 healthy age-matched controls. Children pressed a button 80 times with the right index finger while movement-related potentials were recorded from frontal and central electrodes. Whereas healthy children evidenced positive movement-related potentials at left and midline positions, children with migraine and tension-type headache showed negative movement-related potentials at midline leads without lateralization. Negativity was even more pronounced in cases of migraine with than without aura symptoms.
