Model nilai tanah merupakan model untuk menaksir nilai tanah berdasarkan faktor-faktor yang dikenal pasti dapat mempengaruhi nilai tanah. Secara umum ada empat (4) kumpulan faktor yang mempengaruhi nilai tanah iaitu struktur, kejiranan, lokasi dan masa. Sebahagian besar daripada faktor ini memerlukan data ruangan yang dahulunya sukar dijana kerana kekurangan alatan yang sesuai. Perkembangan dalam sistem maklumat geografi (GIS) membolehkan berbagai-bagai jenis analisis ruangan yang diperlukan seperti pengkelasan semula, penindanan, pengukuran jarak dan kehampiran, kejiranan, rangkaian dan permukaan dapat dilakukan dengan lebih mudah. Kajian ini cuba membentuk satu model nilai tanah dengan memfokuskan kepada faktor struktur. Sebanyak empat pemboleh ubah struktur lot tanah diambil kira iaitu keluasan, lebar hadapan, indeks landskap (bentuk lot) dan arah orientasi. Kaedah statistik yang digunakan adalah analisis regresi terhadap sampel 148 transaksi lot tanah. Daripada analisis hanya dua pemboleh ubah iaitu luas dan bentuk lot signifikan pada tahap 0.05 dan berjaya menerangkan sebanyak 74% daripada variasi nilai tanah. Kata kunci: nilai tanah; GIS; faktor struktur A model of land value is a model to estimate land value based on factors identified to influence land value. Generally, there are four groups of factors that influence land value i.e. structural, neighborhood, location and time. Most of these factors need spatial data that were difficult to generate in the past due to the lack of appropriate tools. The recent development in Geographical Information System (GIS) enables the various spatial analysis such as reclassification, overlay, distance measurement and proximity, neighborhood, network and surface analysis to be a carried out with ease. This study attempts to develop a land value model with a particular focus on structural factors. Four structural factors were considered in the model namely size, width of frontage, landscape index (shape of lot) and orientation. The model was developed using multiple regression analysis based on a sample of 148 lots of land transaction. From the analysis, only two variables i.e. size and landscape index were statistically significant at 0.05 level and successfully explained 74% of the variation in land value. The last 25 years has been a period of rapid change in the approach to archaeological fieldwork in Britain and this has been reflected in the development of survey within the Royal Commission on the Ancient & Historical Monuments of Scotland (RCAHMS), the government financed body responsible for maintaining the national record of archaeology and architecture. The monolithic county-based inventory approach of RCAHMS' first 60 years has been replaced by a more broadly-based archaeological strategy founded on programmes of work that range from national overviews and regional surveys to individual site plans. Archaeological mapping has superseded monument planning as the key field objective, and all survey, whether terrestrial, aerial or desk-based, is underpinned by the RCAHMS Geographical Information System (GIs). The radical changes in field data-capture have been mirrored by parallel developments in making that data accessible once it has been collected.

Geographical information system (GIS) is one kind of information system that handles spatial data. It is difficult to give one definitive definition about GIS (Heywood, Cornelius, & Carver, 2002; Maguire, Goodchild, & Rhind, 2001). This variety of definitions can be explained by the fact that any definition of GIS will depend on who is giving it, and their background and viewpoint (Pinkles, 2002). The complete definition of GIS is selected here as: “a set of tools for collecting, storing, retrieving at will, transforming, and displaying spatial data from the real world for a particular set of purposes”(Burrough, 1986, p. 6). As an important part of e-government, is that it has functions of cartography, manages spatial data and spatial analysis.

This paper is an approach to forecast the spatial data in time series domain. Normally in GIS (Geographical Information System), we need raster forecasting. Moving average, exponential smoothing, and linear regression methods of forecasting are used over one-dimensional data. Present work concentrates on using these methods on satellite images applying them from pixel to pixel of historical temporal satellite data. An example set of satellite images from years 2011 to 2015 has been used to forecast the image in the year 2016. GIS tools have been developed in ArcGIS 10.1 using python to implement the methods of forecasting. Forecasted and actual images of the year 2016 have been compared by calculating the Normalized Difference Vegetation Indices (NDVI) and change detection to identify the best method.

To the problem of visualization expression, under the ArcGIS space environment, I use the ArcObjects components to do the symbols allocation and visualization expression for spatial data and point, line and polygon target. Result shows that it has finished the visualization effect of spatial data and symbols in the geographical information system.

The aim of this review paper is to provide a comprehensive overview of geographical information system and remote sensing–based water erosion assessment. With multispectral and multi-temporal low cost data at various resolutions, remote sensing plays an important role for mapping the distribution and severity of water erosion and for modeling the risk and/or potential of soil loss. The ability of geographic information system to integrate spatial data of different types and sources makes its role unavoidable in water erosion assessment. The role of satellite data in identification of eroded lands and in providing inputs for erosion modeling has been discussed. The role of GIS in mapping eroded lands based on experts’ opinion, in generating spatial data inputs from sources other than remote sensing and in integrating the inputs to model the potential soil loss has been discussed.

This study examined the spatio-temporal analysis of urban crime pattern and its implication for Abuja Municipal Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria; it has the aim of using Geographical Information System to improve criminal justice system. The aim was achieved by establishing crime incident spots, types of crime committed, the time it occurred and factors responsible for prevailing crime. The methods for data collection involved Geoinformatics through the use of remote sensing and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) for spatial data. Questionnaires were administered for other attribute information required. The analysis carried out in a Geographic Information System (GIS) environment especially for mapping and the establishment of spatial patterns.  The results indicated that the main types of crime committed were theft and house breaking (42.9%), followed by assault (12.4%), mischief (11.3%), forgery (10.5%), car snatching (9.05%), armed robbery (8.5%), trespass (5.2%) and culpable homicide (0.2%). In terms of hot spots the districts recorded the following: Garki (27.62%), Maitama (25.7%), Utako (24.3%), Wuse (20.9%) and Asokoro district (1.4%) respectively with most of the crime committed during the day time. Many attributed the crimes to mainly high rate of unemployment and poverty (79.1%). Consequently to reduce the crime rate, the socio-economic situation of the city must be improved through properly constructed interventions scheme in areas known to quickly generate employment such as agriculture, small and medium scale enterprises, mining and tourism.

The design of a Web-geographical information system strongly requires methodological and operational tools to deal with information distributed in multiple, autonomous and heterogeneous data sources, and a uniform data publishing methodology and policy over Internet web sites. In this chapter, we describe our experience for the activities of requirement analysis and conceptual design of the DEAFIN Web-geographical information system whose objective is to improve the quality and the comparability of information about available industrial vacant sites, coming from different regional data sources. Heterogeneity and web availability requirements have been taken into account in the system architecture design. The DEAFIN system is thus conceived as a federated web-based information system, capable of managing and providing access to all the regional relevant information in an integrated and complete fashion. Furthermore, since the data available by a given DEAFIN region partner can be both spatial data and alphanumeric data, for each regional component system in the DEAFIN system, a Web-GIS system is defined.

Abstract Hour-al-Azim marsh is one of the most significant wetlands of the Mesopotamia watershed. In the past few years, severe environmental and hydrological stress have caused the loss of a large part of its area and its bed has become the largest focal point of haze in the southwestern of Iran. Determining delineation is one of the most important and necessary measures to protect a wetland's ecosystem and, in this study, delineation was determined using the USACE-R-G method. This method is a combination of ecological and hydrological criteria with a Remote Sensing and Geographical Information System. The results showed that under the first scenario the marsh is about 3,279 km2 which about 882 square kilometers constitute free-water surface and its average depth is 2.4 meters. In the second scenario, these numbers were estimated to be 1,619 km2 with an average depth of 2.7 meters. Moreover, the area of the haze focus is about 1,659 km2. As well as this, under these conditions the amount of water required to submerge the marsh is 7.9 in the first scenario and 4.4 billion cubic meters in the second one.
