This study aims to analyze the relationship among somatotype structures, leg volume, leg mass, anaerobic strength and flexibility of elite male athletes in different branches. 90 male athletes who study at School of Physical Education and Sport at University of Kırşehir Ahi Evran and are active in wrestling (n=15), gymnastics (15), football (15), handball (15), volleyball (15) and basketball (n=15) voluntarily participated in this study. Somatotype structures, leg volumes and leg masses of the participants were determined using Heath-Carter, Frustum and Hanavan methods, respectively. Vertical jump test was used to measure anaerobic performance, while sit-and-reach test was used for flexibility performance. Spearman correlation analysis was performed using SPSS 22.0 package program for Windows, and the level of significance was taken as 0.05. As a result, a significant correlation was found between leg volume and mass and anaerobic performance values in football, volleyball, basketball, handball, wrestling and gymnastics, which indicates a decisive role in anaerobic performance. It was observed that athletes with a higher amount of leg volume and mass display a better anaerobic performance. The width of femur circumference and a high amount of muscle mass and fiber in the femur lead to a higher strength in muscles and maximizes the strength.

This study aims to analyze the relationship between anaerobic performance and leg and foot volume and mass in female athletes in individual sports and team sports. 90 female athletes who have been active in sports for at least three years voluntarily participated in the study. The average age of participants is 21. Frustum and Hanavan methods were used to calculate leg volume and mass, respectively. 20-meter sprint test and vertical jump test were carried out in order to determine anaerobic performance. SPSS 22.0 package program for Windows was used for descriptive statistics and correlation analysis of the obtained data. In this study it was demonstrated that leg volume and mass of female athletes varied in each sport and that right and left leg volume and mass of these athletes were fairly close.  Leg volume and mass were higher in team sports athletes than individual sports athletes. In addition, vertical jump performance was better in individual sports athletes. Therewithal it was found very highly negative significant correlation between vertical jump and 20-meter speed values in individual and team sports. As a result it was found that leg volume and mass were higher in team sports athletes than individual sports athletes. Besides when the relationship between leg volume and mass and anaerobic performance is analyzed, a very high positive significance was found between 20 meter speed and right leg mass in boxers. In this way the development of both leg volumes and mass is therefore important for a better anaerobic performance for athletes.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify relationships between endurance of periscapular muscle, anaerobic performance and agility in professional athletes. Methods: 70 professional basketball, volleyball, and handball players (male: 25 female: 45 age 20.41±5.72, BMI: 21.70±2.51) were included to this study. Anaerobic performance was assessed with vertical jump test. Periscapular muscles endurance was evaluated using scapular muscle endurance test and agility was measured hexagonal obstacle test. Statistical analysis was performed using the statistical software SPSS 22. Results: Spearman correlation analysis results showed that there was positive significant correlation between anaerobic performance and endurance of periscapular muscles (p<0.05 r=0.341). A negative significant relationship was demonstrated between anaerobic performance and agility (p<0.05 r=-0.332), and between agility and endurance of periscapular muscles (p<0.05 r=-0.334). Discussion: The scapula acts as an axis, transmitting the power and high energy of the lower extremities and trunk to the upper extremities. The muscles surrounding the scapula provide proximal stability for the upper extremity and act as a fix while the distal part is moving. When weakness of scapular musculature has occurred, normal scapular positioning and mechanics may be altered. Therefore, scapular stabilization failure may lead to poor anaerobic performance. These results indicate that periscapular muscle endurance affects anaerobic and agility performance in sports.

The Relationship Between Muscle Strength, Anaerobic Performance, Agility, Sprint Ability and Vertical Jump Performance in Professional Basketball PlayersThe purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between isokinetic knee strength, anaerobic performance, sprinting ability, agility and vertical jump performance in first division basketball players. Twelve male first division basketball players participated in this study. The mean age was 25.1 ± 1.7 yrs; mean body height 194.8 ± 5.7 cm; mean body mass 92.3± 9.8 kg; mean PBF 10.1± 5.1; and mean VO2max50.55 ± 6.7 ml/kg/min. Quadriceps and hamstrings were measured at 60° and 180°/s, anaerobic performance was evaluated using the Wingate anaerobic power test, sprint ability was determined by single sprint performance (10-30 m), jump performance was evaluated by countermovement (CMJ) and squat jump (SJ) tests and agility performance was measured using the T drill agility test. Quadriceps strength was significantly correlated with peak power at all contraction velocities. However, for mean power, significant correlation was only found between the 60° left and 180° right knee quadriceps measurements. No measure of strength was significantly related to the measurements from/results of field tests. Moreover, strong relations were found between the performance of athletes in different field tests (p< 0.05). The use of correlation analysis is the limitation of the this study.

Characterizing the relationship between time series is an important issue in many fields, in particular, in many cases there is a nonlinear correlation between series. This paper provides a new method to study the relationship between time series using the perspective of complex networks. This method converts a time series into a distance matrix and constructs a sequence of nearest neighbor networks, so that the nonlinear relationship between time series is expressed as similarity between networks. In addition, based on the surrogate series, we applied [Formula: see text]-score to characterize the level of significance and analyzed some benchmark models. We not only use the artificial dataset and the real dataset to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, but also analyze its robustness, which provides an alternative method for detecting nonlinear relationships.

This study aims to investigate the effect of technical competence in certain balance elements, an important parameter in rhythmic gymnastics, on sportive success in taekwondo poomsae athletes and the relationship between them. The study was conducted on 12 female taekwondo athletes (age: 17.6±1.2; height: 159.26±3.1 cm; weight: 50.79±1.82 kg; BMI: 20.88±0.98 kg/m2). The participants were selected from successful athletes who were in the top 6 in their own category in the national taekwondo competition held this year. The athletes performed 6 balance elements in rhythmic gymnastics, i.e. side passé (SP), 90° forward (90°F), side split with hand support (SSWHS), Arabesque with trunk forward (A), Cossack (C) and free leg to the side (FLS), and the Y balance test. The relationship between these balances that were assessed by 3 international judges and success rating was identified using the Spearman correlation test. The level of significance was accepted as p<0.05. As result, a statistically significant difference was found between side passé and split with hand support, balances used in rhythmic gymnastics, and success ratings (p<0.05). While no statistically significant difference was found between other balances, i.e. 90° forward, arabesque with trunk forward, cossack and free leg to the side and sportive success, there was a high relationship between them. In addition, there was no statistically significant difference between sportive success and right and left anterior (RAB, LAB) posteromedial (RPMB, LPMB) and posterolateral (RPLB, LPLB) reach distances. In conclusion, since the study found a high relationship between sportive success and technical competence of poomsae athletes in the two technical side balances, it is suggested that basic gymnastics training can be effective in improving the balancing skills of taekwondo poomsae athletes.

This study aims to determine the correlation between leg muscle power to volleyball spike skills in class X SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Musi, Empat Lawang. The method used is a descriptive correlational method, because basically this study aims to determine the relationship between variables. The research data collection instrument was carried out by measuring the power of the leg muscles using the Vertical Jump test, then the Spike skill was performed with the Spike. The results of data analysis indicate that the hypothesis proposed is acceptable, there is a positive relationship between the two variables, namely of 0.977 is positive, meaning that the greater the score obtained, the stronger the relationship between the two variables. The test for the significance of the correlation coefficient was carried out by means of the value r count with r table at α = 5% with N = 24 obtained r table of 0.404 because the correlation coefficient between rx.y = 0.97 r (0.5) (24) = 0.404 means the correlation between the power of leg muscles on the Spike skills of SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Musi students is significant. Thus, the hypothesis which says "there is a strong correlation between leg muscle power on the Spike skills of SMA Negeri 1 Ulu Musi students", is accepted. This means that there is a correlation between leg muscle strength and the Spike

Athletes require greater energy and protein than people with normal activity to balance the body’s metabolic rate. The body mass index is a factor which directly related to the physical performance of martial-art athletes. The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between energy, protein suffi ciency and body mass index with power of martial-art athletes. This research was observational analytic with cross sectional study design. Samples were consisted of 46 athletes who has won at least one martial art games. Data were collected through interview. Energy and protein adequacy level were measured by 2 × 24 hours food recall questionnaires; body weight and height measured by digital scale and microtoice; and power was measured with vertical jump test. There was a positive relationship between adequacy level of protein (p = 0.011) and athletes’s power, but negative correlation between BMI and athlethes’s power (p = 0.019). There was no relationship between the adequacy level of energy with power of martial-art athletes. It was concluded that increament of protein adequacy level could increase athlete’s power. Otherwise, escalation of body mass index could decrease the power of athletes. Therefore, it is needed to monitor nutrient intake and BMI to increase the power of martial-art athletes.

Annotation: suicide – can be considered as a reaction in a stressful situation. The decisive role in the development of the stress reaction belongs to the hypothalamichipophysealadrenal system. Materials and methods: the content of corticoliberin, adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol in the peripheral blood of persons who committed suicidal attempts. The comparison group (GC) consisted of persons who experienced stress, who had not previously committed. The presence of a statistical relationship between the study groups was tested using the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test. Pairwise comparison of distributions by the Mann-Whitney test with Bonferroni correction for the level of significance. When identifying the relationship by non-parametric criteria, an additional one-way analysis of variance was performed, which makes it possible to compare the average values of the indicators. Results: in males, an increase in the hypothalamic-hipophyseal-adrenal system hormones is noted. Statistically significant differences in hormone cortisol were found between GC and the group of people who used highly lethal methods of self-harm and are based on the differences in the group of men over 40 years old. In females, no statistically significant differences were found between the groups. Cunclusion: 1. Statistically significant differences between the groups were noted in the severity of motivation to commit suicide and the hormone Cortisol. 2. Statistically significant differences in the hormone Cortisol were due to the presence of differences between males over 40 years old. 3. In females, there were no statistically significant differences between hormonal indices.
