The removal of Florida citrus from the tree for harvesting is still done by handpickers on ladders and requires a work force of 20,000 to 35,000 persons. Moving fruit from the grove and subsequent fruit handling has been mechanized in the last 40 years. Factors affecting harvesting are fruit type and utilization, grove characteristics, and harvest labor requirements and costs. Although mechanical harvesting research over the past 35 years has not developed a feasible machine to replace the picker, substantial design and field performance information has been developed to mechanize the harvest of a significant portion of the crop if labor becomes unavailable or too costly. Some picking aids have been implemented to increase the productivity of pickers, but their feasibility is questionable under current conditions. Renewed attempts have been made to mechanize the harvest since 1993. A harvesting program administrator was employed by the Florida Department of Citrus in January 1995 to develop a program which will insure the harvest of future crops at a competitive cost, Record crops, low fruit prices, steadily increasing harvest costs, and more regulations are predicted for the next decade. Subsequently, attention is paid to the concepts of employability and workplace learning, factors affecting learning at work, and age-related influences. Peggy A. Bulger is Program Administrator for the Florida Folk Life Program at White Springs, Florida, and a co-organizer of the American Folklore Society's new section in Applied Folklore. She writes: I am involved with several colleagues in the formation of an Applied Folklore Section of the American Folklore Society. As you may know, the interest in folklife studies by government agencies and public service organizations has been increasing tremendously in the past several years. An example of this trend is the formation of over thirty statewide folk arts and folklife programs within the past five years. Our own Florida Folklife Program is one such program, established by the Florida Department of State four years ago to promote and preserve the folk cultural resources of Florida. Our program began with the staff of two and new employs a dozen, including two folklorists, an ethnomusicologist, an historian, an archivist and a crafts specialist. We are conducting on-going folklife field research and we disseminate our findings for public consumption through a variety of media: TV programs, radio series, slide/tape programs, festivals, booklets, etc. We are just one program of many in the states that are involved in public folklife programming.

Описываются сами факторы, которые используются для предсказания направления будущих разработок. Для решения этой задачи применяется концепция Вычислительной Способности, которая позволяет оценить производительность компьютеров теоретически, опираясь исключительно на описание их архитектуры. In this article we are investigating the computers development process in the past decades in order to identify the factors that influence it the most. We describe such factors and use them to predict the direction of further development. To solve these problems, we use the concept of the Computer Capacity, which allows us to estimate the performance of computers theoretically, relying only on the description of its architecture.

AbstractFueled by high returns on its investments, the pharmaceutical industry in the United States has flourished for the past 50 years. The regulatory strategy of demanding stringent testing then allowing market-based pricing has allowed private companies to fund ambitious research and development activities with the assurance that these investments will be recovered. However, aggressive managed-care cost-containment strategies threaten the companies' ability to recoup research and development expenses and may affect their willingness to invest in future innovative research.

The main purpose of this research is to find out the challenges and opportunities that most of the women specifically those who are entrepreneurs are facing these challenges in Sylhet area, Bangladesh. This report mainly depends on some documents and some practical observations. Women Entrepreneurship is a very essential turning point for the betterment of the women. Unlike the past, women today are no longer confined in the kitchen. They have raised their voice against conservative social outlook. Now women are entering into work force which is providing them a self-identity and right to participate in family decisional affairs. In Sylhet a huge number of women are also having various types of business organizations. The women those who are entrepreneurs of Sylhet, almost 35% are engaged in boutique businesses. There are some other businesses performed by them such as fashion house and cloth store, tailor, parlor, training center etc. Most of them have to maintain their family works despite having a business. But here they are not free from problems. The traditionalism of society, high interest rate of loan, lack of proper training facilities are the main barriers in the smoothness of business. Here every women entrepreneurs recommends that the Government should take necessary effective steps in (providing training, low rate of interest in taking loan etc.) this regard, as it is a very potential way to develop the country.

The development of investment in Indonesia has increased rapidly over the past few years. One of the key factors affecting stock traders' trading behavior is information. Information that was previously difficult to obtain by investors became easily obtained due to technological developments. In addition to information, the characteristics of traders also influence their trading behavior. The population used in this study is the entire citizen of Surabaya, and the sample of this study is stock traders who have a minimum of 1-year trading experience. Data analysis is done by using Partial Least Square with Smart PLS 3.0. The result of this study is that information has a significant effect on trading behavior, while neuroticism, extraversion, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness do not moderate the effect of information on trading behavior significantly.

Abstract Various aspects of innovation management have been discussed in literature over the past few decades. Most of the innovation management frameworks have been formulated by undertaking studies in the developed world and lack the industry / culture specific focus. In this paper we revisit the generic innovation management studies to develop an innovation management framework for highlighting the factors affecting innovation specifically at the ICT sector of Pakistan. A detailed literature review has been conducted to identify the factors included in the past innovation management models. To identify the factors specific for Pakistan, senior level professionals, working at the Pakistani ICT organizations were interviewed. A comparative analysis of the innovation management frameworks for Pakistan against those previously found in literature revealed interesting similarities and differences. Based on the study findings, an innovation management framework is developed that highlights the present factors which are important for innovation in the ICT sector for Pakistan. This framework can be used by Pakistan and other underdeveloped countries for improving their innovation in ICT sectors in particular and other sectors in general.

Abstract Policymakers employ economic sanctions to deal with a wide range of international challenges, making them an indispensable foreign policy tool. While scholarship on sanctions has tended to focus on the factors affecting their success, newer research programs have emerged that explore the reasons for why sanctions are threatened and initiated, the ways they are designed and enforced, and their consequences. This scholarship has yielded a wealth of new insights into how economic sanctions work, but most of those insights are based on sanctions observations from the 20th Century. The ways that policymakers employ sanctions have fundamentally changed over the past two decades, though, raising concerns about whether historically derived insights are still relevant to contemporary sanctions policies. In this forum, the contributors discuss the scholarly and policy-relevant insights of existing research on sanctions and then explore what gaps remain in our knowledge and new trends in sanctions policymaking. This forum will inform readers on the state of the art in sanctions research and propose avenues for future research.

One of the most important problems facing Greece is the long-term and high-level unemployment rate. The Economic Adjustment Programmes (EAPs) focused on the supply side of the economy, aiming at the adjustment of prices and wages, draw on the classical economic model, as it is widely accepted that internal devaluation policies keep inflation low. This article attempts to examine whether the Keynesian theory and the Phillips Curve, which shows the relationship between unemployment and inflation, apply in the case of the Greek economy. We use descriptive statistics, ordinary least squares (OLS) and VAR Analysis to examine the relationship between the variables. According to the results, there is a negative correlation between unemployment and inflation in Greece, thus confirming the Phillips Curve hypothesis. Finally, results show that unemployment is less dependent on inflation compared with the past, and there are numerous other decisive factors affecting unemployment.
