Student group work is a central feature of many contemporary pedagogical approaches to teaching physical education. Despite this proliferation, our understanding of the teaching-learning dynamics inherent in group work remains limited and has tended to be under-theorized. The purpose of this paper was to examine different theoretical approaches to group work to identify similarities and differences and consequently provide insights and recommendations into ways of using group work as a pedagogical strategy. Four theoretical approaches to group work models were described in detail with brief empirical examples used to illustrate aspects to which each approach draws attention. The examination demonstrates conceptual overlap, elaboration and distinctions between the theoretical approaches related to: (i) content knowledge; (ii) engaging learners; (iii) the teacher’s role; and (iv) group composition. Meta-theoretical discussions of teaching strategies such as group work generate important discourse on the potential for the development of effective pedagogical practice.

About 100 years have passed since the first classes of percussion instruments appeared. In the early days, when professional training intended for percussion performers dated to, teachers faced a large number of problems, in particular, lack of a full set of percussion instruments in the classroom, the availability of instructive, educational, pedagogical and concert repertoire alongside scientific and methodological literature. As a result, the work of the first educators was based, first of all, on their personal pedagogical experience and many years of performing practice. In this regard, the appearance of the first teaching aids was a milestone in the development of professional training in playing percussion instruments. For a century-long period, not so much educational and methodological literature has appeared, which was conditioned by a number of objective and subjective factors. At the same time, each methodological manual has taken its rightful place in the development of teaching methods for playing the percussion instruments. However, time is relentlessly moving forward and, unfortunately, today, they have become less in demand, as they do not always meet the modern requirements and approaches to teaching how to play the percussion instruments. Today, Ukrainian scientists and teachers have free access to a large amount of information. Therefore, they have an opportunity to familiarise themselves with interesting developments of our foreign colleagues. However, in most cases, they cannot be used in domestic pedagogical practice, as they are not adapted to the current realities of the educational system of Ukraine due to various socio-economic and cultural factors. Thus, the issues related to the need to search for the most effective forms, methods, and approaches to teaching how to play the percussion instruments is of particular importance and relevance. The article is devoted to the methods based on the playing form of instructions which are used in schools of aesthetic education and, in particular, at the classes of percussion instruments. The purpose of the work is to present new promising areas in teaching percussion playing, based on the author’s pedagogical practice. These methods were used in the study: analysis, observation, deduction and induction. The following issues are considered in the article: the influence of learners’ age characteristics on the choice of teaching methods, the essence of the group form of training and its importance for activating the pedagogical process, traditional and non-traditional approaches to teaching / learning, as well as the analysis of the methods that are widely used in the author’s teaching practice at the classes of the percussion instruments playing. As a result of the study, some new ideas were proposed related to the training at the initial stage and the ways of their implementation by introducing the methods of collective listening, imitation, “playing with the ball”, “sweet tooth”, etc. into the pedagogical practice.

This article aims to promote and support the physical education teacher's community in the use of playful practices with pupils with mild intellectual disabilities (MID), as a didactic medium, and a substantial educational resource of quality physical education.  Firstly, it will be reviewed definitions and emergent themes on the subject shaping the theoretical framework on which this study has been built. Later, it will be presented didactic advice and guidelines for the application of playful practices, extracted from the most effective observable practices in the author's teaching experiences in specialized education institutions with pupils with MID and supported by the scientific literature. This article reinforces the notion that playful practices provide variety to meaningful learning, have great potential as a facilitator in pedagogical processes, and provide an appropriate educational response to pupils with intellectual disabilities. It also shows that teachers should reflect positive and reflective disposition to modifications and adaptations of the different elements involved in the playful practices according to educational objectives and the personal needs and interests of the children with MID. Considerations such as the instructions have to be modified to meet students’ needs, play according to children's biological age and systematic registration and monitoring in the teaching-learning process are essential. It is recommended that teachers share their experiences in pedagogical practice to learn from our differences and strengthen our coincidences, to contribute to the still insufficient bibliography in the pedagogical practices in special education.

Abstract. The aim of this research is to describe the discourse and the classroom teaching approach of Physical Education teachers in relation to the Didactic Content Knowledge (CDC). The construction of didactic and consequently pedagogical knowledge is generated from school practices, producing an articulated learning knowledge and located in the relationship between theory and practice, which includes didactic, pedagogical, disciplinary, professional, and practical aspects of the teaching profession. In this sense, the objective of this research was to understand the construction process and the sources of CDC in Physical Education teachers from the Maule region in Chile. The methodology used is qualitative, since it is based on the interpretive-comprehensive paradigm that seeks to understand complex phenomena. In terms of design, six semi-structured interviews were conducted with Physical Education teachers working in the Maule Region, Chile. The process of coding, categorization, and interpretation allowed us to conclude that even if teachers have disciplinary knowledge that does not guarantee quality learning for students who participate in the Physical Education classroom, since a general pedagogical knowledge is required, which allows teachers to plan, organize, and execute quality teaching-learning situations.

Abstract Cooperative games are activities that serve to unite people, share with each other and intend to arouse the participants’ courage and promote a sense of pleasure. In the context of Physical School Education, cooperative games are shown as a tool capable of promoting the learning of motor skills and encouraging the practice of physical activities. Thus, the objective of this research is to discuss the relationships and importance of cooperative games in School Physical  Education. A bibliographic, exploratory and documentary research was carried out. Competitive games are always present in the school context, often criticized for stimulating exclusion and individuality, and it is not a fully adequate strategy to promote knowledge and participation of all. On the other hand, the cooperative games are shown as a positive pedagogical tool to include the students and help in the  teaching-learning process, improving the social coexistence between them. It is possible to conclude that cooperative games can and should be part of the school routine, not only Physical Education itself, since its objectives are aimed at reaching the school community as a whole, especially the student’s body. In the context of Physical Education, cooperative games can help in the process of learning motor skills from the first contacts of the child with the school, since in a playful and enjoyable way, the student engages and grows, being an excellent  pedagogical practice strategy. Keywords: Games. One of the elements that most influence the pedagogical practice, within the Physical Education, has to do with the spaces in which the teaching task is developed. This article exposes the reflexive process of a novel educator in which he reviews his principles, purposes and consequences of their actions in relation to the creation of safe teaching and learning spaces for all students. The article adopts a qualitative methodology, in the form of autoethnography, to know the influence exerted by the spaces in which Physical Education develops in the conception and confrontation of the subject. The results reflect how one of the main concerns of the teacher has to do with adapting the spaces and contexts in which the lessons are developed to reduce contingencies.

Collaborative projects are often touted as an effective pedagogical practice particularly when authentic tasks and a studentcentred approach are involved. By default such practices often include many other aspects that need to be taken intoconsideration such as interdisciplinary tasks, technology or second language learning (ESL). Approaches to teaching/learning like these are necessarily complex and a theoretical framework that unravels the numerous issues embedded isneeded to understand what exactly is going on. In this paper a model developed originally by Webb and Palincsar (1996)is used to illustrate the multitude of influencing factors involved in a large scale integrated collaborative project at SharjahWomen’s College. From the students’ perspectives, issues related to tension with using technology and lack of transferbetween disciplines was uncovered implicating the need for changes to aspects of the project.

A particularly important aspect of learning physics is using models of physical objects, processes and phenomena. Modeling is an important component of learning and cognitive activity. This determines its importance for the formation and development of students’ knowledge and skills. The Physics Education Technology (PhET) project creates useful simulations for teaching and learning physics and makes them freely available on the PhET web site: http://phet.colorado.edu The simulations are interactive, animated and visual. Some ideas for their using in physics education are presented. They can be used in various of ways, including demonstration experiment as part of lecture, student group work or individual worksheets, homework assignments or labs. The possibility for using simulations in remote education is considered. Students are given interactive assignments. They include interactive problems in the form of computer simulation and questions related to it. The students work with data which they analyze and present tabular and graphically. This approach suggest activities based on enquiry. In result their motivation and interest in physics increases.

In this article, we focus on the contingency between learning and instruction in physical education (PE). We argue that the complex interconnectedness of teachers’ instruction and students’ learning processes should be studied using a unit of analysis that expresses the relationship between the two factors. A contingency perspective foregrounds the individual differences between different learners and how a teacher regards these differences. Furthermore, it has the potential to provide a precise lens for empirical research on how the students’ situations shape the evolution of the teaching--learning process. Based on scaffolding research and adaptive teaching research, which draws on socio-constructivist foundations, we call this unit of analysis ‘contingency’. We outline a framework of research that suggests depicting contingency dimensions, respective instructional continua, and contingency rules when investigating contingency in PE. Furthermore, autonomy as a core contingency dimension for PE and methodological issues will be discussed.
