Investigating model and impacts of lane-changing execution process based on CA model

Lane changing is one of the basic driving behaviors and consists of lane-changing decision-making process and lane-changing execution process. However, most existing traffic simulation models focus on lane-changing decision-making process and assume that drivers complete their lane-changing behaviors instantaneously. Then these models may not reproduce the actual traffic phenomenon. Furthermore, there are several failed lane-changing behaviors, referring to that drivers may go back to the original lane during lane-changing process. And the impacts of these behaviors have not been investigated up to now. In order to characterize the lateral movement process and to investigate its impacts on traffic flow, this study puts forward a symmetric two-lane cellular automaton model with lane-changing execution (STCA-LE model). In this model, the lateral movement rules of lane changing vehicles are formulated and introduced. The results of numerical simulation indicate that there is a positive relationship between the lane-changing duration and traffic density that is consistent with observation data analysis. Based on this model, the lane-changing trajectories and impacts of lane-changing process are investigated by introducing the critical lane-changing duration. The results of this study could be taken as an important reference to the development of traffic measures and the designation of intelligent vehicles.

Subject. The research investigates key processes of urban life and its maintenance, including food supply, infrastructure, fire security, quality and accessibility of medical services, etc. The article also discusses the creation of a system supporting the Smart City decision-making process. Objectives. The research develops methods and tools to manage the Smart City system through system dynamics and agent-based modeling. Methods. Using simulation modeling, namely system dynamics and agent-based modeling (supported via Powersim and AnyLogic), we evaluate how multiple guiding parameters influence crucial characteristics of the Smart City system. Results. We devised an approach to designing the Smart City system through methods of system dynamics and agent-based modeling (supported via Powersim and AnyLogic) intended to streamline the decision making process for reasonable urban planning. Conclusions and Relevance. We propose the consolidated architecture of the Smart City decision-making system integrating the simulation models, data storage and city monitoring subsystem. The article describes the cases of simulation models implemented via Powersim and AnyLogic to support rational urban planning. The simulation models will significantly improve the quality of urban environment, satisfy the demand for food products, provide access to healthcare services and ensure effective rescue actions in case of emergency.

A crop simulation model is a computerized program which is used to describe the process of growth and developmental stages of crop in relation to weather data, crop conditions and soil conditions to solve the real-world problems. Crop simulation models plays an important role in decision making process as these models can save time and resources. The prediction accuracy of simulation models is one of the most vital components in decision making process. Our review shows the prediction accuracy and efficiency of the simulation models like DSSAT and APSIM. We have compared the prediction accuracy of these models on various growth and development stages of crops along with yield prediction. Both the models have performed well while predicting various growth and developmental stages of crops. The present scenario of traditional research is site-specific, Resource consuming and time consuming. Hence the information obtained through traditional research by qualitative analysis has many limitations, Because of changing climate and weather parameters there is a need for computerized based statistical tool which can provide decision support system for more than 10-15 years. By this we strongly believe that Crop simulation models can be a vital tool in future agricultural research and climate change mitigation strategies.

Merging bottlenecks in urban expressways have attracted much attention in recent years. In this paper, vehicular mandatory lane-changing (MLC) data are collected from Yingtian Avenue in Nanjing, China using cameras. Based on a series of video processing algorithms, 656 MLC behaviors of 1,560 vehicles are extracted from videos. A logistic regression model is proposed to depict MLC at the merging bottleneck and estimate the possibility of accepting gaps for merging, which is validated by precision testing and simulation. During the simulation, a discretionary lane-changing (DLC) model is utilized and calibrated to describe vehicular DLC behaviors for the sake of consistency and completeness. Finally, by simulating different arrival rates of mainline and ramp, a linear regression model is built to predict breakdown at merging bottlenecks. According to data analysis, the MLC model represents high precision during the decision-making process. Besides, the breakdown prediction model implies strong correlation between traffic demand and breakdown occurrence.

The purpose of this article is to outline a decision-making process and highlight which portions of the augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) evaluation process deserve special attention when deciding which features are required for a communication system in order to provide optimal benefit for the user. The clinician then will be able to use a feature-match approach as part of the decision-making process to determine whether mobile technology or a dedicated device is the best choice for communication. The term mobile technology will be used to describe off-the-shelf, commercially available, tablet-style devices like an iPhone®, iPod Touch®, iPad®, and Android® or Windows® tablet.

Women today are considered to be outside the political and administrative power structures and their participation in the decision-making process is non-existent. As far as their participation in the political life is concerned they are still on the margins. The existence of patriarchal society in Lebanon as well as the absence of governmental policies and procedures that aim at helping women and enhancing their political participation has made it very difficult for women to be accepted as leaders and to be granted votes in elections (UNIFEM, 2002).This above quote is taken from a report that was prepared to assess the progress made regarding the status of Lebanese women both on the social and governmental levels in light of the Beijing Platform for Action – the name given to the provisions of the Fourth Conference on Women held in Beijing in 1995. The above quote describes the slow progress achieved by Lebanese women in view of the ambitious goal that requires that the proportion of women occupying administrative or political positions in Lebanon should reach 30 percent of thetotal by the year 2005!
