Sparassis crispa, also known as cauliflower mushroom, is an edible mushroom with medicinal properties. Its cultivation became popular in Japan about 10 years ago, a phenomenon that has been attributed not only to the quality of its taste, but also to its potential for therapeutic applications. Herein, I present a comprehensive summary of the pharmacological activities and mechanisms of action of its bioactive components, such as beta-glucan, and other physiologically active substances. In particular, the immunomodulatory mechanisms of the beta-glucan components are presented herein in detail.

Plants are generally measured as origin of natural drugs and are extensively used in herbal formulations. Muntingia calabura (Muntingeaceae) is indigenous to Central America and Southern Mexico It is abundantly disseminated throughout Asian countries especially in India. The present research was done on the isolation, pharmacological study of the isolated compounds derived from root heart wood and bark of the root of Muntingia calabura. For this study, six compounds were taken into account and later it was divided into two categories as flavonoids and chalcones. The isolated compounds were further screened for their attributed pharmacological traits. All the compounds screened noticed to possess significant medicinal properties.

The advantages of pre-sowing seed soaking in phytoregulator solutions such as Hitofos, Phytohit, Cytohit and some foliar feeding were shown at the time of carrot plants grew. As it was revealed previously at Breeding Production Stations, Urus-Martanovskiy region, the «Gribovchanin» carrot cultivar had a yield characteristics and quality of root that became much higher after seed and plant treatment by physiologically active substances.

Ginseng a plant widely used in phytomedicine due to its pronounced biological activity, primarily connected with the high content of saponins (ginsenosides). The cultivation of ginseng in the Altai Republic is currently being resumed. The production of phytopreparations requires an assessment of the quality of raw plants. There is a lack of information on the compostion and medicinal properties of ginseng grown in the Altai Republic.In this research, for the first time, an analysis of Altai Ginseng roots was carried out by HPLC-QOT MS. The profile of the main biologically active substances — ginsenosides — was determined and compared with that of the Chinese analogue. We found that Altai ginseng contains 17 ginsenosides, 12 of which are recommended for the detection by NIST. The content of 7 main ginsenzides (Rb1, Rc, Re, Rb2, Rg1, Rg, Rd) ranges from 680 to 5,375 μg/g of raw material. The ginsenzide profiles of ginseng plants grown in Altai and China were found to be similar.It is shown that ginseng roots contain a rich composition of ginsenosides, which are present in high concentrations. Consequently, this raw material has a significant potential for the manufacture of extracts for their further use in phytopreparations for preventive medicine in Russia and other countries.

Metabolic syndrome is an aggregation of conditions and associated with an increased risk of developing diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular diseases (CVD). Edible mushrooms are widely consumed in many countries and are valuable components of the diet because of their attractive taste, aroma, and nutritional value. Medicinal mushrooms are higher fungi with additional nutraceutical attributes having low-fat content and a transisomer of unsaturated fatty acids along with high fiber content, biologically active compounds such as polysaccharides or polysaccharide β-glucans, alkaloids, steroids, polyphenols and terpenoids. In vitro experiments, animal models, and even human studies have demonstrated not only fresh edible mushroom but also mushroom extract that has great therapeutic applications in human health as they possess many properties such as antiobesity, cardioprotective and anti-diabetic effect. They are considered as the unmatched source of healthy foods and drugs. The focus of this report was to provide a concise and complete review of the novel medicinal properties of fresh or dry mushroom and extracts, fruiting body or mycelium and its extracts, fiber, polysaccharides, beta-glucan, triterpenes, fucoidan, ergothioneine from edible mushrooms that may help to prevent or treat metabolic syndrome and associated diseases.

Background: Since its inception, people are using herbal extracts as natural remedies for the treatment of various diseases. Bryophyllum pinnatum, also known as the air plant, is a well-recognized herb used in folk medicine. It is native to Madagascar and further planted in tropical and subtropical areas around the world. It is known for the profusion of miniature plantlets which arise from the margins of phylloclade. Objective: The aim of this review is to provide the information regarding local and traditional uses, pharmacological activities and different phytochemicals reported from leaves extracts of Bryophyllum pinnatum. Methods: This review article contains a detailed survey of the literature about Bryophyllum pinnatum available in different online databases, such as; PubMed, Web of Science, Science Direct, Elsevier, and Google Scholar, etc. In this review, authors have focused on ethnopharmacological importance and phytochemicals present in Bryophyllum pinnatum and their structure. The structures of the phytochemical were prepared by the ChemDraw tool. Results: This plant is used as a traditional herbal medicine around the globe due to medicinal properties like; anthelmintic, immunosuppressive, hepatoprotective, antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, antidiabetic, nephroprotective, antioxidant, antimicrobial, analgesic, anticonvulsant and antipyretic. Phytochemical analysis revealed the presence of many bioactive compounds like; alkaloids, flavonoids, triterpenes, steroids, glycosides, bufadienolides, lipids, and organic acids, etc. which are associated with different medicinal properties. Conclusion: Bryophyllum pinnatum possesses diverse pharmacological importance and remarkable medicinal properties. Investigators have reported a large number of phytochemicals exhibiting different medicinal properties and correlation of medicinal properties.

The detection of viruses, disease biomarkers, physiologically active substances, drugs, and chemicals is of great significance in many areas of our lives. Immunodetection technology is based on the specificity and affinity of antigen–antibody reactions. Compared with other analytical methods such as liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry, which requires a large and expensive instrument, immunodetection has the advantages of simplicity and good selectivity and is thus widely used in disease diagnosis and food/environmental monitoring. Quenchbody (Q-body), a new type of fluorescent immunosensor, is an antibody fragment labeled with fluorescent dyes. When the Q-body binds to its antigen, the fluorescence intensity increases. The detection of antigens by changes in fluorescence intensity is simple, easy to operate, and highly sensitive. This review comprehensively discusses the principle, construction, application, and current progress related to Q-bodies.
