Aiming at exploring the effect of four factors on fresh graduate’s three popular career choices of continuing studying, working in state-owned enterprises, and working in private enterprises, this paper collects the specific information of 3237 students and builds the GM (0, N) model. The four variables include student’s grade point average (GPA), socioeconomic status (SES), gender, and whether the student comes from an urban household. Furthermore, this paper also considers the effect of the fractional order and proposes a fractional grey model (FGM (0, N) model) to enhance the performance of the traditional model. Eventually, the study finds that there are still some students with financial problems, which makes some negative effects on their choices of continuing studying and working in state-owned enterprises. Additionally, all the other three factors show the positive influence on the three choices. Besides, GPA shows the most positive effect on the choices of continuing studying as well as working in a state-owned enterprise; gender and SES have the greatest impact on the choice of working in a private enterprise.

The influence of corruption convictions on government trust is complicated. On one hand, they may reflect the severity of corruption in a jurisdiction. On the other hand, they might indicate the degree of anticorruption efforts. Existing literature has suggested the severity of corruption’s negative effects and the positive effect of anticorruption efforts on institutional trust. This research synthesized existing studies, identified the intellectual puzzle in the literature, and developed open hypotheses to investigate the way in which corruption convictions systematically affect citizens’ trust in government. State-level panel data merged from different sources were used for the empirical analyses. The results showed a positive influence of corruption convictions on public trust in government.

The ethnicity, grade point average (GPA), and retention characteristics of 202 students whose parents never attended college, 244 students whose parents had some college experience, and 394 students whose parents graduated from college were examined. Analysis showed that a significantly higher percentage of minority students were first-generation students. No significant differences were found between the GPA and retention rates of first-generation students and those of the other two.

We studied the possibility of using low frequency laser emission to improve production properties of feed hydrobionts, in particular microalgae Desmodesmus armatus and Daphnia magna, which are highly applied in aquaculture. It was shown that low-frequency laser emission with the wavelength 650 nm has a positive influence on production properties of both phyto- and zooplankton. In 24 hours the biomass of irradiated D. armatus was 25% larger than non-irradiated one. Meanwhile, application λ 420 and 530 nm did not show credible accumulation of microalgae biomass. If it comes to daphnia, positive dynamic in population density enlarging was observed only since 5-7th day of cultivation, depending on emission exposition. Differences in low-frequency laser emission with λ 420 and 530 efficacy on D. magna production properties were observed while using different exposition. Thus, maximal culture density was observed when λ 420 nm for 90 s and λ 650 nm for 60 s were applied. Longer irradiation with red laser did not have positive effect. It was established that in daphnia tissues, which were influenced by λ 420 nm laser emission, TBA-active products were accumulating more. Meanwhile, for daphnias, which were irradiated with red laser, TBA amount was not different from the control group one. Catalase activity increased while applying λ 650 nm laser emission. On the other hand, λ 420 nm did not cause credible increasing of catalase activity in comparison with control group. Taking received results about photobiological effects of low-frequency laser emission on D. armatus and D. magna into consideration, both biomasses enlargement during co-cultivation can be obtained if wavelength 650 nm is used.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to measure the combined influence that soft skills and Graduate Point Average (GPA) achievements have on the employability of higher education (HE) graduates, and the possible mitigating effects that score attainments have on some ex ante issues, like the gender asymmetries existing in labour market, or the great difference between some knowledge fields, regarding their unemployment rates. Design/methodology/approach The methodology used is a probit model, performed on a sample of 1,054 HE graduates, coming from a middle-sized European university. Findings The results show: a clear positive influence of the GPA on job finding odds; that some generic competencies improve this probabilities but another ones act as penalties; and that GPA and systemic competencies enhancement initiatives (at an individual level or at HE policy institutions level) could act as attenuators for the gender inequality or for the low recruitment perspectives existing on some knowledge fields like humanities or social sciences. Originality/value A wide scientific literature can be currently found on generic competencies and their influence on the employability odds, but the results regarding GPA attainments are still too heterogeneous and scarcely explored. On the other hand, there’s a non-solved controversy in the literature about the influence of the GPA results on the odds that a HE graduate has to obtain a job: do GPA signal correctly the best candidates? Do current employers prefer competencies scores over GPA attainments? This paper will contribute to clarify these questions.

This study examined the structural relationship between age, grit (i.e., perseverance of effort and consistency of interest), conscientiousness, self-control, and school success of female students at an Open University in Korea. We analyzed 509 students’ responses, and it turned out that the level of perseverance of effort was negatively correlated with academic maladjustment. Also, perseverance of effort had a positive indirect effect on grade point average scores. Conscientiousness and self-control were found to be positively correlated with grit factors and they had negative effects on academic maladjustment through perseverance of effort. Age had both direct and indirect effects on grit and academic success of the students.

AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui Adversity quotient mahasiswa pendidikan matematika angkatan 2015 dan mengetahui ada atau tidak adanya keterkaitan antara Adversity quotient dengan Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) mahasiswa pendidikan matematika angkatan 2015. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriftif korelatif. Menggunakan metode korelasional yang tujuannya untuk menyelidiki sejauh mana variasi pada satu variabel berkaitan dengan variabel yang lainnya. Berdasarkan hasil analsis data penelitian, bahwa tingkat Adversity quotient (AQ) mahasiswa jurusan pendidikan matematika FKIP Universitas Siliwangi angkatan 2015 secara umum berada pada kategori AQ sedang (camper). Sebesar 66% mahasiswa memiliki AQ sedang, dan umumnya memiliki IPK dengan predikat sangat memuaskan. 1 orang mahasiswa memiliki IPK dengan predikat pujian dan memiliki AQ tinggi (climber), 1 orang mahasiswa memiliki IPK dengan predikat pujian namun AQ nya berada pada kategori peralihan dari quitter ke camper, 14 orang mahasiswa memiliki IPK dengan tidak memiliki predikat namun AQ nya sedang (camper), dan 2 orang mahasiswa memiliki IPK dengan tidak memiliki predikat namun AQ nya berada pada kategori peralihan dari camper ke climber. Serta terdapat keterkaitan yang signifikan antara Adversity quotient dengan Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif. Adversity Quotient of Mathematics Education Students and Its Correlation with Their Grade Point AverageAbstractThe purpose of this research was to find out the 2015 adversity quotient of mathematics education students in academic year 2015 and find out whether there was link between Adversity quotient and the 2015 Grade Point Average (GPA) of this students or not. This research was descriptive correlative research. Using a correlational method which aims to investigate to what extent variations on one variable are related to the other variables. Based on the results of research data analysis, the level of Adversity quotient students majoring in mathematics education FKIP Siliwangi University class of 2015 in general is in the category of moderate AQ (camper). More precisely 66% of students have moderate AQ, and generally have a very satisfying GPA. One student has a GPA with a predicate of praise and has a high AQ (climber), one student has IPK with the title of praise but the AQ is in the transition category from quitter to camper, 14 students have GPA with no predicate but the AQ is camper, and two students have IPK with no predicate but the AQ is in the transition category from camper to climber. There is a significant relationship between Adversity quotient and Grade Point Average.

Recently, negative effects of the blasting operations and quantification of the seismic safety are regarded as very important technical problem in quarries. The impact of blasting operations is accompanied by both positive and negative seismic effects. For example, vibrations generated by explosion create very positive effect − when help to break the rocks, but, on the other hand, also result in negative effect − when affect constructions and natural environment in the vicinity of a blasting works site. If the vibrations are large enough, then the nearby objects could be damaged or destroyed. This article highlights the results of the blasting operation monitoring in limestone Lopušné Pažite quarry on Slovakia, which based on the rule that the negative effects depend on their range and strength. This method is applied in all quarries in Slovakia, which are close to settlements.

Motivation is one of the superior tools in order subordinate willing to work hard and smart in accord with the goal. If there is one achieve his or her motivation, then he or she tend to be continuously motivated. On the other hand, if there is one often fail to reach his or her motivation, then he or she keep preserving and keep make effort and pray till his or her motivation be reached or becomes hopeless. This study is aimed at knowing if there is a significant relationship between work motivation and teacher teaching ability toward the students’ achievement in Gugus II Primary School, Kebayakan Sub-district, Aceh Tengah. This study uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The populations of the study were all the teachers and students at Gugus II Primary School Kebayakan sub-district, Aceh Tengah. The samples of the study were 31 teachers and 31 students. The results of this study indicate that the first hypothesis that there is a positive effect on work motivation with student achievement (rx1y = 0.670), second, there is a positive effect of the teachers teaching ability on the student achievement (rx2y = 0.691), there are three positive influence on work motivation and teachers teaching ability upon the achievement (rx1x2 = 0.856). The simultaneous analysis indicates that work motivation and the teachers teaching ability could affect the students’ achievement. Out of motivation variable hypothesis on the teacher high teaching ability has a significant influence on students’ achievement in Gugus II Primary School, Kebayakan sub-district, Aceh Tengah

This research investigates the effect of crowdfunding on entrepreneurship. The population of the study includes Jordanian entrepreneurs, (200) questionnaires were distributed among 200 Jordanian entrepreneurs; the (200) questionnaires were all collected. The researcher used the quantitative research methods in the form of simple liner regression and multi regression. The study confirms that there is a positive impact of crowdfunding on entrepreneurship in general as well as entrepreneurs’ freedom of innovation and value of creation. In addition, it was realized that out of the four investigated crowdfunding methods:  reward, pre-purchasing, donation, equity and lending, the pre-purchasing method has the most positive influence on entrepreneurship freedom of innovation and value of creation. On the other hand, reward, equity, and lending did not contribute any significant effect on entrepreneurship’s value of creation and freedom of innovation compared to the latter two. Furthermore, both crowdfunding processes of all-or- nothing and keep-it-all have significant effect on entrepreneurship with the latter process having a more significant effect than the former.  This study confirmed the positive effect of crowdfunding methods and processes on Jordanian entrepreneurship in term of value of creation and freedom of innovation.

The study aims to investigate the relationship between personality traits and academic achievement of university students. The sample consisted of 100 students, aged from 22 to 25 years. The shortened version of NEO-FFI was used to measure personality traits. Academic achievement was measured by the grade point average gained during the first three years of university study. The data were evaluated by the Multiple linear regression analysis. The research has shown the negative effect of extraversion, and a positive effect of conscientiousness on academic achievement. As expected, the relationship between academic achievement and neuroticism, agreeableness and openess to experience was not confirmed.
