The present article focuses on the life trajectory and the bibliographic production of the entomologist and science communicator Messias Carrera (1907-1994), presenting aspects of his personal profile, academic training and professional development. His role as a researcher in the Zoology Department of Secretaria de Agricultura, Indústria e Comércio do Estado de São Paulo, currently Museu de Zoologia of the Universidade de São Paulo, is emphasized, having worked mainly in the taxonomy of insects of the order Diptera and in science communication between the 1930s and 1990s. Carrera was a science researcher and communicator ahead of his time. His intellectual production, limited to the scientific, technological and “humanistic” spheres, adds important advances to the relative areas of knowledge.

There is little debate about the concept of education in Kierkegaard, but we believe that this is a basic point in the thinking of the Danish philosopher, as we seek to demonstrate, and should be the object of further research, study and reflection. We take as reference for the beginning of this debate texts such as the Philosophical Fragments and the Post-Scriptum, where subjectivity and singularity appear as fundamental concepts. Keywords: Education. The present article investigates the expressions of popular demands and discontent within three forms of manifestation: riots, non-class-based “social movements”, and movements organized by the “working classes” or “workers”. By examining these different movements we expect to problematize the recurring literature surrounding these movements, which has often characterized them as being insufficient or incomplete, reactive and subordinate to higher authorities, thus being void of any transforming power. It is therefore hoped that this article may contribute to a debate that would seek to transcend the very frequently encountered viewpoint that popular protests have been sporadic, rare phenomena throughout Brazilian history.

The present article traces relations between three objects of analysis: some works from the photographic series “Buena Memória” by the Argentinian Marcelo Brodsky, the Memorial da Resistencia de São Paulo and the Ocupa DOPS movement in Rio de Janeiro; evidencing the importance of having institutional spaces which promote exhibitions with artistic productions about memory in the Fluminense capital. The text analyses the photograph “La Clase” and its “Puente de La Memória” with the city of Buenos Aires, relating its reflections with the history and potential of these two places of memory in Brazil as possible spaces of an art educational non-hegemonic and freeing narrative.

The purpose of this article is to explore the possibilities of constructing performance indicators for the Faculty of Law (FL) at the University of São Paulo (USP), aiming to use them as instruments capable of institutional evaluation and as metrics capable of national and international comparisons, looking to strengthen their reputation. The construction of qualitative research indicators for law courses takes into account that objectives and results in graduate and postgraduate courses are diverse, and that there are different actors involved in these processes. Moreover, for intellectual production as well as articles and books, there are various extension activities expressed in sentences, decisions, judgments, and drafting of legislation—of huge social impact—which are not taken into account by performance analyses. Finally, it must be borne in mind that Faculties of Law were traditionally created to operate within national systems.

The present article aims to present some partial results of the master dissertation titled "Geometry in Brazilian Curricular Materials by the Ontossemiotic Approach", under development in the Professional Master Program of Science and Mathematics Teaching of the Cruzeiro do Sul University in São Paulo. As presuppositions a research perspective that aims to qualitatively analyze curricular materials of the 5th year of elementary school in the scope of geometry. For the analysis in question, frameworks were developed based on didactic adaptations (epistemic, mediational and ecological) from the assumptions of the Ontosemiotic Approach. In this way, the article will discuss the abovementioned didactic adequacy frameworks in order to offer subsidies so that teachers can be guided when analyzing curricular materials.

This paper tested the Pástor and Veronesi (2003) hypothesis that the market-to-book ratio (M/B) is negatively related to the number of years (age) during which a firm has had its stock traded on an Exchange. The predicted decline takes place as a result of a learning process by investors. The authors tested this implication in the U.S. market using the Fama-MacBeth (1973) methodology. In the present article a more general econometric approach is adopted, with the use of panel data and fixed-factor regressors, with data for stocks traded at the São Paulo Stock Exchange (BOVESPA). The evidence does not reject the Pástor and Veronesi hypothesis. Additional conjectures were tested regarding the learning process. These tests indicate that the greater availability of data on a company amplifies the effect of the age variable on the M/B ratio, implying a more accelerated learning process. This paper concludes that the evidence for the Brazilian market supports the theory that investors learn.
