Abstract This dissertation critically reviews neoclassical migration theories and conceptualises the capability-based framework as a prospect in migration theory. I show that most of the neoclassical migration theories were formed in the twentieth century. They therefore require an update to accommodate contemporary migration dynamics. I argue that a multifaceted and multidimensional capability-based approach that centralises human agency and capabilities can address the earlier theories’ shortcomings. Hence, I adopt the capability-based migration framework as the main framework in my dissertation. The dissertation differs from previous empirical studies in its unique methodology and exceptional attention to the grey areas in the migration discourse. Using data from prospective Nigerian migrants living in Nigeria, actual migrants living in Italy and a collection of secondary data sources, the dissertation addresses three research questions: how do capabilities influence migration decisions in the home country; what are the capability-depriving constraints faced by migrants in the host country; and how do migrants contribute to capability improvement in the home country?

Population migration continues to be the main factor affecting the population dynamics in the Russian Arctic. The article discusses the theoretical provisions that reveal the essence of population migration, presents the main migration theories that explain the mobility of the population in the Arctic conditions. The object of the study is 75 urban and municipal districts of the Russian Arctic. The research focuses on the population migration and its impact on the population of the Russian Arctic. The authors propose a method for studying migration processes by analyzing municipal statistics and directions of movement based on social network data. The method reveals the main migration flows and patterns of population movement in the Arctic regions in 2012—2019. Based on the identified trends, the authors forecast migration dynamics and its impact on the population. Spatial analysis shows that current migration processes in the Arctic are the result of a complex combination of natural, historical, social and economic causes. Using data of the project “The virtual population of Russia”, the authors identify the main routes of population movement in the Arctic regions. The research reveals that residents of urban districts most often move to Moscow and St. Petersburg, and the ones of urban districts — to regional centers. The analysis shows that medium and large cities are of particular importance in migration processes. They are intermediate links of migration routes from the Arctic territories to federal and regional capitals located outside the Arctic. The authors describe three models of migration processes, depending on the age and sex composition of the migrating population and the stages of territory development.

The purpose of this study is to describe organizational culture in an Islamic perspective: its prominence, concepts and models and its application in organizations. This research is a qualitative study. The activities of collecting and analyzing data, developing and modifying theory, elaborating or refocusing research questions, and identifying and addressing validity threats occur more or less simultaneously, each affecting all the others. Secondary data sources used are research results and literature related to this research topic. Then, the data were analyzed using Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). Based on the results of the discussion, it is concluded as follows: 1) In Islamic leadership, apart from the responsibility of followers, the same applies to the responsibility of leaders to customers. Except for the most important aspect this cycle of trust-based relationships is incomplete without involving trust in Allah. 2) There is no compartmentalization of life in Islam into discontinuous domains, therefore the scope of morality is widespread. All life in space and time is a place of testing. All human relationships, beginning with oneself, are governed by moral considerations. 3) Culture can promote or hinder the implementation of organizational strategy. A strategy that is in line with the organization's values ??and beliefs will facilitate its implementation. However, when strategy contradicts them, it is much more difficult to implement. 4) Islamic culture originates from values, norms, thoughts and symbols based on the Koran and Hadith, these values, norms and thoughts affect the behavior, attitudes and habits of people from all walks of life. Islam combines culture and profession. The Islamic culture learned by employees is related to the work environment and will improve the quality and ability of any profession.

Despite the significance of effective risk management practices in deepening prudent financial management in Ghana's Rural and Community Banks (RCBs) there appear to be a paucity of empirical studies highlighting the various kinds of risks faced by RCBs. Such studies will enhance RCBs understanding of the extent to which Ghana's RCBs operations are affected by ineffective risk management practices. The purpose of this paper therefore is to examine the extent to which Ghanaian Rural and Community Banks deploy risk management practices in addressing the types of risk affecting their operations using data through a survey involving respondents from Rural and Community Banks and Bank of Ghana/ARB Apex bank. The study uses primary data collected through survey questionnaire from respondents sampled from the RCBs and the Bank of Ghana/ARB/Apex Bank. The research also uses secondary data collected from the ARB/Apex Bank quarterly reports on Rural and Community Banks operations in Ghana. Our empirical findings indicate that credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk and legal /regulatory risk are the major forms of risk affecting rural and community banks in Ghana. The paper recommends the enforcement of risk management regulations by the ARB Apex Bank and the Bank of Ghana. On the other hand, Rural and community banks should create risk management department and recruit qualified and experience personnel to ensure effective and efficient risk management practices.
