The introduction of smart virtual assistants (VAs) and corresponding smart devices brought a new degree of freedom to our everyday lives. Voice-controlled and Internet-connected devices allow intuitive device controlling and monitoring from all around the globe and define a new era of human–machine interaction. Although VAs are especially successful in home automation, they also show great potential as artificial intelligence-driven laboratory assistants. Possible applications include stepwise reading of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and recipes, recitation of chemical substance or reaction parameters to a control, and readout of laboratory devices and sensors. In this study, we present a retrofitting approach to make standard laboratory instruments part of the Internet of Things (IoT). We established a voice user interface (VUI) for controlling those devices and reading out specific device data. A benchmark of the established infrastructure showed a high mean accuracy (95% ± 3.62) of speech command recognition and reveals high potential for future applications of a VUI within the laboratory. Our approach shows the general applicability of commercially available VAs as laboratory assistants and might be of special interest to researchers with physical impairments or low vision. The developed solution enables a hands-free device control, which is a crucial advantage within the daily laboratory routine.


In the present era, the internet and new technologies are changing the information behavior of news reader .Instead of reading a copy of the local newspaper or watching the scheduledevening news, people increasingly turn to the internet for daily news updates. A Multi-Lingual news feed application is aimed at developing a web based application named multilingual news feed app. This Application deals with the user who wants to read news from the web application. User can select different countries in which a user is interested, the latest news will be fetched from the selected country. The news will be fetched and displayed based on the country selected in its own national language & the news is categorized into 7 different categories. A user can select any category which they are looking for. When you are done selecting the country & category, then the page will automatically refresh and the news will be displayed on MultiLingual news feed application. This application also supports translation and the news can be translated into any language. This application is fully responsive and has a good-looking user interface. The users will find this application much interesting for reading the news articles.

Group support systems (GSS) 2. Collaboratories 3. Integrated learning environments. Although some of the collaborative learning technologies can be used without the Web, the Internet and World Wide Web provide the scalable global connectivity to support these technologies, with the browser serving as a ubiquitous user interface for collaborative learning applications.

AbstrakDi Indonesia, salah satu permainan yang menjadi kegemaran adalah bermain game Poker. Poker merupakan permainan kartu aturan yang dapat dimainkan secara langsung maupun lewat internet. Game Poker online adalah salah satu sarana efektif untuk menghabiskan waktu sekaligus hiburan kesenangan bermain poker dengan banyak orang. Salah satu game Poker yang terkenal adalah Zynga Poker. Pencarian data yang ditemukan bahwasannya permainan tersebut mempunyai kekurangan pada bagian user interface yang berat saat digunakan sehingga penulis mencoba untuk membuat user interface game online sejenis menggunakan metode UCD (User-Centered Design) dengan nama game FairPlay Poker. Desain yang dihasilkan adalah desain ilustrasi 2D yang digunakan dengan lebih ringan. Kata kunci: Game, metode UCD, User interface, Poker, AbstractIn Indonesia, one of the favorite online games is poker. Poker is a card game with some rules that can be played directly or via the internet. Online Poker game is one of the effective media to spend time and amuse pleasure by playing poker with peoples. The Infamous Poker game is known as Zynga Poker. From the data search that had been done, the game still has a few weaknesses in the heavy User Interface that the authors try to develop a similar user interface poker game. Which name the Fairplay Poker using UCD (User-Centered Design) methodology. Abstract Modern electronics systems consist of not only with the power electronics converters, but also with the friendly user interface which allow you to read the operating parameters and change them. The simplest solution of the user interface is to use alphanumeric display which displays information about the state of the converter. With a few additional buttons you can change the settings. This solution is simple, inexpensive but allows only local control (within walking distance from the system) and the number of displayed information is low. You can create extensive menu, but it causes problems with access to information. This paper presents the example of a rotating energy storage universal solution which is lack of the above mentioned disadvantages

We have designed, implemented, and deployed a camera control system and a conference controller that provide remote control capabilities for videoconferencing over the Internet. The camera control system allows users to pan, tilt, and zoom the cameras, switch between cameras, and get a picture-in-picture view from their desktops. The conference controller allows conference participants to not only start and stop the media tools on a remote host, but also to dynamically change settings and turn transmission on and off. It supports the vic (video) and vat (audio) Internet videoconferencing tools and enhances their usability by providing an integrated and secure user interface for local and remote control of these applications. This paper describes the design and implementation of the camera control system (devserv and camclnt) and the conference controller (confcntlr). The remote control capabilities offered by these tools have changed the videoconferencing paradigm to one of telepresence. With these tools remote users can “walk” around the room, focus in on objects, and actively participate rather than just observe.


Internet around the world has become the prime source to satisfy the requirement of Entrepreneurs, customer and end users. As user comfort is the primary goal of all the entrepreneurs, the end user interacts through the internet to mine the knowledge. The user interacts the internet by apps and web. To attract the users, the user interface (UI) designers focus on Visual presentations to abet users to interact, comprehend, and navigate to the information. The work presents that how visual perceptions of Web page intricacy by perceptive users' behavior, the indispensable cognitive effort for interaction with the UI can be understood. The work presents an extension of current methods for designing UI using model-based technics, with the methods essential for the design of adaptive capacities required in different phases of development. These developments can be fused in Agent-Based Ergonomic User Interface Development Environment. This technique is bolstered by a solution based on Multi-Agent System (MAS) which offer adaptive capabilities to users, designed using the anticipated technique of Agent-Based Ergonomic User Interface Development Environment (AB-EUIDE). In [27] author has presented the various phases of the AB-EUIDE Framework. In this article author presents the analysis phase of the AB-EUIDE and explains how a compromise is done between Adaptation and Ergonomics while designing the user interface.

This chapter considers an application of software agents to mobile commerce services provision. With the increasing number of e-commerce services for mobile devices, there are challenges in making these services more personalized and in taking into account the severely constrained bandwidth and restricted user interface these devices currently provide. In this chapter we present an agent-based platform for support of mobile commerce using wireless devices. Agents represent mobile device customers in the network by implementing highly personalized customer profiles. The platform allows customization and adaptation of mobile commerce services as well as pro-active processing and notification of important events. Information to the customers is delivered via both an access to the Internet and SMS messages. Usage of the platform is illustrated by examples of valued customer membership services and subscription services support. We hope that the presented work demonstrates benefits of software agents as assistants in mobile commerce services.

Electronic commerce (e-Commerce) has exploded on the Internet over the past few years and is expected to continue growing at an exponential rate (Kannan, Chang and Whinston, 1998; Fellenstein and Wood, 2000). According to the GVU’s 8th WWW User Surveys (1997), the most important issues facing online users are privacy (31%), censorship (24%) and navigation (17%). Since user interface design directly impacts navigation and affects the user’s interaction with a Web site, this chapter will explore a number of different factors that affect user interface design on the World Wide Web. In all there are six factors that we explore in this chapter. They are the user’s mental model as newly defined and focused upon perception and conception (Haynes and Mahfouz, 2001), the level of expertise of the user, the user’s learning style, the richness of the media used, the organizational image and message, and the user’s intentions. All these factors involve internal (to the Web page design) and external (to the user’s environment) implications that impact user interface design on the Internet. Since all factors are external with the exception of the richness of the media used and, to some extent, the organizational image and message, it follows that we have chosen to emphasize in this chapter the external factors, namely those factors that directly relate to the user.
