With the development of society and economy, more and more elderly people migrate from rural to urban areas. Nowadays, mobile social media (MSM) is a very important tool for information search, social communication, and entertainment among older migrants, and it is necessary to clear how the self-esteem level and the use types of MSM contribute to older migrants’ social integration and life satisfaction. Based on the literature review, we constructed a research model and tested the model using sample data of 306 Chinese older migrants. The results show that self-esteem has a negative impact on the social use and entertainment use of MSM. Our study also confirms that social use and entertainment use have different effects on older migrants’ social integration and life satisfaction. Social use has a positive impact on social integration and life satisfaction, while entertainment use has a negative impact on social integration and has no significant impact on life satisfaction. Furthermore, the perceived social integration of older adults can significantly predict their life satisfaction.

In recent years, a special group of elderly migrants emerged in some developing countries, namely “trailing parents,” who migrated with adult children in their later years. Lots of developing countries such as China have an increasing number of old people using mobile social media for social interaction, information, and entertainment. Based on social capital theory, we developed a research model and investigated the relationship between mobile social media use (MSMU) and social capital, social integration, and life satisfaction of trailing parents. We completed an empirical study by collecting 244 valid samples. The results show that MSMU has a positive impact on trailing parents’ life satisfaction, and bonding social capital, bridging social capital and social integration are all important predictors of trailing parents’ life satisfaction. Furthermore, social capital and social integration play an important chain mediation role in the relationship between MSMU and trailing parents’ life satisfaction.

Vaping is popular among adolescents. Previous research has explored sources of information and influence on youth vaping, including marketing, ads, family, peers, social media, and the internet. This research endeavors to expand understanding of peer influence. Our hypothesis is that friends’ influence on teen vapers’ first electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) use varies by demographic variables and awareness of ENDS advertising. In August–October 2017, youth (n = 3174) aged 13–18 completed an online survey to quantify ENDS behaviors and attitudes and were invited to participate in follow-up online research in November-December 2017 to probe qualitative context around perceptions and motivations (n = 76). This analysis focused on the ENDS users, defined as having ever tried any ENDS product, from the survey (n = 1549) and the follow-up research (n = 39). Among survey respondents, friends were the most common source of vapers’ first ENDS product (60%). Most survey respondents tried their first ENDS product while “hanging out with friends” (54%). Among follow-up research participants, the theme of socializing was also prominent. ENDS advertising and marketing through social media had a strong association with friend networks; in fact, the odds of friends as source of the first vaping experience were 2 times higher for those who had seen ENDS ads on social media compared with other types of media. The influence of friends is particularly evident among non-Hispanic Whites, Hispanics/Latinos, those living in urban areas, those living in high-income households, those with higher self-esteem, and those who experiment with vaping. These findings support the premise that peer influence is a primary social influencer and reinforcer for vaping. Being included in a popular activity appears to be a strong driving force.

AbstractThe Southern Region of Europe is economically well-developed with highly industrialized urban areas and with great agricultural potential. The empirical analysis is based on an econometric assessment that measures the impact of the VAT on the rate of economic growth for years between 1996 and 2017. The empirical evidence highlighted a significant positive impact of VAT on economic growth, but a poor and ineffective use of the tax revenues during the period under review. Moreover, evidence revealed relatively high rates of VAT in the countries analyzed, with negative impact on the aggregate consumption and a diminishing effect of the consumer’s income.

Moreover, the results suggest that when employees reported their perceptions of recovery experiences, positive perceptions had a positive impact on job satisfaction and life satisfaction. The findings also indicate that employees who are happy at work have a high life satisfaction. The impact of the outbreak of Covid-19 is extraordinary, especially in the field of education. Students must be able to participate in online-based learning because it is not possible to study in schools which are still a threat to students as a place for virus transmission. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought concerns to the implementation of education and learning in junior high schools, the most severe conditions experienced by schools that are far from urban areas with limited internet access and infrastructure. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method. Qualitative research does not use a population and sample approach. Testing the credibility of the data or trust in the results of qualitative research, among others, is carried out by extending observations, increasing persistence in research, triangulation, discussions with colleagues, negative case analysis, and member checking. Data analysis carried out is data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. From the results of the research, all teachers explained that this pandemic had a positive impact on the giving and receiving of written materials. This happened because there was quite a lot of time in the provision of material. Because the material could be conveyed to students quite well, the students' written test scores increased significantly. the negative impact is that the child cannot practice optimally. Because there is one school that does not practice at all, namely SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Blora. The teacher does not allow students to practice because of many considerations. Meanwhile, SMP N 5 Blora, SMP N 7 Blora and SMP Plus Insan Gemilang continue to apply the practice for their students, but only on certain materials that are not classified as dangerous. Based on the results of the study and the data obtained by the researchers, it can be concluded that this study obtained the results that the covid-19 pandemic had an impact on physical education learning in Blora City.
