By dynamically controlling the feeding amount and feeding ratio of the three feeding rollers with program logical control system under the requirements of yarn spinning parameters, it is possible to effectively configure the final yarn density and the blending ratio of three components to produce multisegment gradient yarns, segment-color yarn, and segment-color slub yarn named as multisegment blending yarns. The yarn-spinning new method was proposed. Different kinds of fancy yarns including gradient yarns, segment color yarns, and slub yarns were produced. The fiber blending effects were demonstrated by slices of yarn cross section, and the surface morphology of yarns were figured out by the photo of yarns. Integrally knitting seamless sweater and different type of pattern were designed and knitted by multisegment blending yarns. The free change of colors along the length direction on a single yarn provides an effective method for integrated rapid design and production of sweaters through mutual design of the overall pattern and the structure of the fabric.

This paper presents the skin effect impact on the active power losses in the sheathless single-core cables/wires supplying nonlinear loads. There are significant conductor losses when the current has a distorted waveform (e.g., the current supplying diode rectifiers). The authors present a new method for active power loss calculation. The obtained results have been compared to the IEC-60287-1-1:2006 + A1:2014 standard method and the method based on the Bessel function. For all methods, the active power loss results were convergent for small-cable cross-section areas. The proposed method gives smaller power loss values for these cable sizes than the IEC and Bessel function methods. For cable cross-section areas greater than 185 mm2, the obtained results were better than those for the other methods. There were also analyses of extra power losses for distorted currents compared to an ideal 50 Hz sine wave for all methods. The new method is based on the current penetration depth factor calculated for every considered current harmonics, which allows us to calculate the precise equivalent resistance for any cable size. This research is part of our work on a cable thermal analysis method that has been developed.

In order to solve the time synchronization problem in tandem hot strip line, the traditional algorithm of time synchronization was analyzed, and the server-client mode was compared with the broadcast mode using multithread technology, then the present paper improved the broadcast mode to improve its precision. The new method can estimate total delay including clock offset and network transmission time. A simple, easy and little loading time synchronization method was designed for the distributed process control system of tandem hot strip line. The new method was applied in domestic some tandem hot strip line successfully which showed that it could meet the demands of process control system with little expenses, simple structure and high precision.

Abstract Aiming at reducing the high-amplitude and wide-frequency noise in charged air intake system of the powertrain, this paper proposes a new method for predicting the acoustic characteristics of an irregular cross-section multi-chamber perforated resonator under flow conditions. By this method, the presence of three-dimensional sound waves and the effects of higher-order modes are considered, and the acoustic performance of the resonator can be evaluated through the computation of transmission loss. Moreover, by discretizing the cross-section of perforated resonator and extracting node information, this method can solve the acoustic characteristics of the perforated resonator with any cross-section. Based on the transfer matrix method, the quadrupole parameters of each chamber are obtained. Then the acoustic characteristics of the multi-chamber perforated resonator could be calculated. The theoretical prediction data and the experimental data have been compared and the results show good agreement within the entire frequency range, which verifies the accuracy of the theoretical prediction approach. Based on this prediction approach, the influence of section ratio, structure parameters and inlet flow rate on the acoustic characteristics of the resonator is explored. The results show that when the structural parameters change, the peak resonance frequency of the resonator will have a regular shift. With the increase of the inlet flow rate, the main frequency band of sound attenuation will decrease significantly. The theoretical method developed in this work can be used for the calculation and optimization of multi-chamber resonators in various applications.

This article releases the details of the equipment development for the micro-anode guided electroplating MAGE fabrication. The microstepping architecture, electroplating power source, control system architecture, measurement system, man machine interface and the control prodedure will be described. Metallic columns around 100 micrometers in diameter were fabricated up to 2cm long with this equipment to demonstrate its performance. An innovative intermittent MAGE mode is supported by this equipment so that it can produce micro columns of finer surface morphology and better circumferential uniformity than the conventional continuous electroplating.

Homoepitaxial growth of step-flow single crystal diamond was performed by microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition system on high-pressure high-temperature diamond substrate. A coarse surface morphology with isolated particles was firstly deposited on diamond substrate as an interlayer under hillock growth model. Then, the growth model was changed to step-flow growth model for growing step-flow single crystal diamond layer on this hillock interlayer. Furthermore, the surface morphology evolution, cross-section and surface microstructure, and crystal quality of grown diamond were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microcopy, and Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy. It was found that the surface morphology varied with deposition time under step-flow growth parameters. The cross-section topography exhibited obvious inhomogeneity in crystal structure. Additionally, the diamond growth mechanism from the microscopic point of view was revealed to illustrate the morphological and structural evolution.

Abstract This paper calls attention to a new method of dealing with deflections of beams, the cross sections of which vary by steps. It is shown that the effect of this variation on the shape of the deflection curve can be represented by a properly chosen force system acting on a beam of uniform cross section. There is no approximation involved in this substitution, whereby the original problem is reduced to one of computing deflections of beams of constant cross section.

In this study, a new method for recognizing the parameters of slub-yarn based on image analysis has been proposed. The slub yarn was wrapped on the surface of the black board by YG381 Yarn Evenness Tester. A high resolution scanner was used to acquire the yarn image. Gray stretching and thresholding were carried out to preprocess the image of slub yarn. By separating the slubs from base yarn with different widths, the slub length, slub distance and slub amplitude can be obtained. With the lists of slub length and slub distance, the periodicity rule of slub yarn can be determined. The period of the slubs then will be identified by 1D-Fourier transform. The experiment indicated that the method can identify the parameters of slub yarn with satisfactory results.
