Research discovers new knowledge, ideas, and technologies essential in driving the future of society and humanity. Without research, a relevant and modern country cannot exist. Similarly, the research output of universities and degree-awarding institutes (DAIs) plays a significant role in higher education and development of any country. Research fosters professional excellence in faculty, important for delivering outstanding student education and training. Therefore, this research is an evaluation of the research output of higher education DAIs in the capital of Pakistan. This research was conducted in four steps: (a) data collection: where the data were extracted from Scopus for the years 2008–2017; (b) data cleansing and labeling: which included removal of nonrequired contents and labeling of nonnumeric data to meaningful classes; (c) feature selection: useful features according to proposed research questions were selected; and (d) data analysis: data were analyzed according to research questions and results obtained from experiments with the help of statistical tools. It is concluded that with only 1% of country’s population and around 11% of Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) recognized universities geographically located at Islamabad Capital Territory, Islamabad-based universities and DAIs contributed 34% of the total publications of Pakistan produced during the study time period. This shows Islamabad-based universities and DAIs standing at the national level. The public sector universities shared the major portion of total publications of the studied universities. Private sector universities and DAIs shared 8% of the total publications.

Situated within the context of globalization, the purpose of this historical policy analysis study is to identify and describe the ways in which multiple actors shape national higher education internationalization policy within the U.S., and to capture the emerging direction in higher education internationalization policy at the national level between 2000 and 2019. Data will be collected from multiple sources at the national level essentially from organizations within the public, private and voluntary policy-making sectors. The guiding theoretical framework for this study will rely on horizontal and vertical historical analysis. The study aims to describe (1) how policy is shaped in a pluralistic policy-making process, (2) identify factors that influenced policy trajectory, and (3) outline policy rationales between 2000 and 2019.

This paper explores the South African Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector in relation to calls for decolonisation that have emanated from higher education institutions (universities) and basic education institutions (schools). Both the public and the academic community have echoed these institutions’ calls for transformation through protests and articles in academic journals and the popular media. Apart from two articles in the popular media the silence on decolonisation and TVET has been deafening. A key phrase during the #FeesMustFall protests was “the missing middle,” referring to those students who were too rich for NSFAS bursaries but too poor to afford university fees. I argue that the TVET sector is a different missing middle in that it is missing from debates about decolonising education in South Africa. Through a document analysis of TVET related legislation, I argue that it is too “high” for basic education and too “low” for higher education. By drawing on Jan Blommaert’s notion of “voice” and Gayatri Spivak’s notion of “the subaltern,” the paper considers why there has been such silence on decolonising the TVET sector.

Higher education (HE) in Kuwait suffers from high dropout rates, and one of the leading causes of this desertion is a lack of academic advising. Effective academic advising systems must fulfill its user’s needs and provide a positive user experience (UX), which allows users to successfully and effectively fulfill their goals. This study used quantitative and qualitative approaches to evaluate an electronic advising system (e-Advisor) used by the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET). Survey data from 1,095 PAAET students were analyzed to determine students' perceptions and evaluate their experience using e-Adviser. The findings indicated that students were aware of the features and advantages of e-Advisor. Overall, the participants had a moderately positive impression of e-Advisor’s UX. The system’s attractiveness, efficiency, and perspicuity were rated slightly higher than its dependability, stimulation, and novelty. Moreover, female students’ perceptions of e-Advisors UX were significantly more favorable than their male counterparts.

One of the stark realities of Africa today is the crisis of youth unemployment. Every year, about 10–12 million poorly skilled young people exiting the various levels of the educationsystem enter the labour market (AfDB & OECD, 2012), where they end up in insecure andsometimes hazardous employment with no prospect of further education or training. Evengraduates of higher education institutions are not spared the frustration of seeking and notimmediately finding a job. In countries such as Zambia and Ethiopia, young graduates maytake up to five years after training before finding a job in the formal sector (ILO, 2013). InGhana, it is estimated that the economy needs to create 300 000 new jobs per year to absorbthe growing number of unemployed (Honorati & Johansson de Silva, 2016). In Tanzania, approximately 800 000 people enter the labour market each year (ILO, 2012), in contrast tothe absorptive capacity of the public sector of only 40 000.

The objective of this article is to study the existing relationship between training and the integration of Sustainable Development (SD) practices in the Moroccan University. The issue at stake is to verify whether the training provided at the level of higher education institutions responds to the various worldwide challenges. In order to respond to the difficulties that impact the higher education model, Moroccan universities are invited to rethink their various approaches so that they can respond to the economic, social, societal and environmental constraints which are constantly evolving. Therefore, these universities must align themselves with the major challenges facing education today[1]. The empirical research method used in this quantitative study is a Likert’s scale based questionnaire. The investigation was carried out on a sample of 134 teachers-researchers of Ibn Tofail University of Kénitra (ITUK) (Morocco). The investigated sample population was surveyed during the time period lasting from February the 1st to May the 31th, 2021. The analysis conducted regarding the results of the ANOVA of the variables reveals that the pedagogical approaches, curriculum and teaching methods are significant except for the teaching activities which display a value of 0.280 higher than the recommended threshold. Consequently, training in higher education can contribute to forging attitudes in the future in line with SD’s requirements by relying on pedagogical approaches. Hence, the University through training should contribute to a sustainable society in order to meet the 17 SD Goals which require that by 2030 all students should have the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to promote sustainable development. The results of this research will contribute to the development of new training curricula that meet the requirements of the various SD objectives. We have focused our research on the ITU Kénitra, we believe that our approach will serve as a basis to develop other cases of Moroccan universities to have an overall vision of training curricula converging towards the practices of SD at the Moroccan national level and for a better contribution in the new 2035 nationwide development model[2].

Higher education in Taiwan is facing competition and challenges from the macro environment of globalization. Taiwan’s key policy direction is enhancing university quality in order to respond to these future trends. Universities’ international competitiveness relies on not only faculty members’ teaching quality, but also their research performance. Faculty members’ research performance strongly affects a university’s reputation, funding generation, and attraction of international and local students. Reviewing the higher education development in Taiwan, although policymakers have continued to promote the benefits of differentiating universities, few studies care how environmental factors of different types of universities affect faculty members’ research performance. Currently, fewer studies focus on the influence of environmental factors on professors’ research performance. In addition, few studies have explored the structural inequalities between universities. This research contains two sequential research methods—namely, analytic hierarchy process and questionnaire survey—to accomplish the following purposes: exploring related literature; determining key indicators of environmental factors; comparing the relative weights of key indicators in Taiwan; comparing the cognitive evaluation of environmental factors perceived by university professors at four different types of universities in Taiwan; and comparing the cognitive evaluation of environmental factors perceived by university professors in Taiwan.

This study is a pioneer study that examines the advantages of faculty employment after retirement age from the perspective of academic faculty. The economic-industrial literature suggests that prior experience is a major consideration in the industry, particularly in the process of selecting suppliers, and the weight given to occupational experience has an effect on other advantages as well.  108 questionnaires administered to senior faculty were collected in a case study of a single university. A combined research method including qualitative and statistical analyses was employed, with the aim of exploring the advantages of faculty employment at institutions of higher education after retirement age. The current research findings show that most of the faculty members claim that the experience accumulated by faculty who have passed the retirement age is their strongest advantage. Furthermore, professional-academic experience was found to correlate with other advantages, namely knowledge, international contacts, deeper familiarity with the global academic system, improved teaching capabilities, and improved ability to guide advanced studies. This, in addition to the advantages of personal-professional skills: more patience and greater research performance ability.  The findings raise the practical question of the implications for the academic system in general and for the public academic system in particular. In other words, how does the public system of higher education translate the advantages of previous academic experience beyond retirement age? What are the benefits for colleagues, young faculty, the institutions – and the system of higher education in general, with regard to research, teaching, and contribution to the community?
