Within the sustainable urbanization framework, two dimensions, namely, social urbanization and environmental urbanization, have complex coordinated interactions. To better understand the coordinated interaction status between the two dimensions of sustainable urbanization, an empirical study was carried out in the 14 cities of Hunan Province, China, from 2011 to 2019. This study establishes an integrated measurement framework, uses the coupling coordination degree model, information entropy weight analysis approach, and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution method to analyze the development degrees and coordinated interaction degrees of the two dimensions. The results show that the quality and efficiency of leisure facilities and water use have the greatest impacts on the coordinated interactions between the two dimensions. Besides, the development degrees of social urbanization and environmental urbanization are not consistent. What is more, the spatial noncorrelation of the coordinated interaction status demonstrates that the “high-quality development” tactics aiming to promote balanced development of dimensions among cities in China is feasible. Furthermore, corresponding suggestions are proposed, providing references for governments’ planning and decision-making processes.

Based on the welfare pluralism analysis paradigm, an elderly care service supply capability evaluation system with five dimensions, including family, government, market, society and collaboration is constructed. The entropy weight method is used to determine the weight, and the weighted sum method is used to calculate the comprehensive score. The differences in the supply capability of different subjects in 30 provinces (cities) in China in 2018 are analyzed. The study found that there is regional imbalance in the comprehensive supply capacity of elderly care services in China, and the eastern region is higher than the central and western regions: Beijing, Guangdong, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong and other eastern regions have strong supply capability, while Shanxi, Yunnan, Heilongjiang, Xinjiang and Jilin and other central and western regions have weak supply capability. In addition, the supply of elderly care service also presents the different characteristics. Therefore, the paper puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions, such as establishing a balanced development strategy, narrowing the regional gap of elderly care service supply capability, enhancing the supply capability of various subjects, and accelerating the formation of a multi-subject responsibility sharing system for elderly care service.

Freight transportation and logistics decisions such as modal choice decisions are strategically important for effective supply chain operation and economic benefits. The freight selection logistic is a multi-criteria multi-objective (MCMO) process, crucial for smooth sourcing of materials, cost-effective delivery of products to customers in the right time, at the right quantity. The study discusses the major transport logistics attributes and the order preference by similarity ideal solution (TOPSIS) algorithm as the preferred MCMO model to support comparative ranking among the alternative freights. The entropy weight coefficient method minimizes the subjectivity in the selection of weight of the attribute. This study integrates the entropy technique on TOPSIS platform to improve the freight selection decision. A numerical example illustrates the procedure of the proposed algorithm and ranks the choices among truck, rail, and several intermodal transport combinations (rail/truck and air/truck) in a transportation selection model.

ABSTRACTDiffering conceptions of the relationship between humans and the environment shape policies regarding Arctic development and protection. From the fifteenth century to the early twentieth century, conquest and colonization perspectives prevailed. While vestiges of these views still color Arctic policy, the dominant approach of governments today is balanced development. On the horizon, alternative conceptions are gradually changing both policy decisions and decision-making processes in the Arctic. These include sustainable and regenerative development, rational ecology, ecofeminism, and indigenous perspectives.

Vehicle control requirements for longitudinal and lateral driver control are varied in different road geometries; this makes it irrational and superfluous to represent driving control characteristics with repetitive indices. To address this problem, the present study used multiple cross-analysis methods of vehicle running state parameters from experienced drivers in order to deeply study driving control characteristics in different road geometries. Six common road geometries with different driving control emphases were selected as typical road types and twenty-five experienced drivers were asked to perform an actual driving test. Taking the indices in the long straight road as the control variable, the indices in other roads were compared with it and judged according to the three methods: the overall distribution by box plots, significant difference test by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and relative distance calculation by technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS). Moreover, the weight of the driving control characteristic index was calculated through the entropy weight method to reflect its importance. In this paper, the relationships between road geometry and driving control characteristics explicate the influence mechanism and interaction of road geometry on driving behavior, and the indicators that can reflect the control characteristics in different road types are obtained.

According to literature review and the data of China’s logistics listed companies, this paper firstly designs the high-quality development evaluation system of logistics enterprises and establishes the panel data model group. Secondly, the method of entropy weight-Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to an Ideal Solution(TOPSIS method)is used to synthesize and regress the indexes, and obtains that the fitting degree of the model is low, which is caused by the lack of data of some indicators in the logistics enterprises. Due to the gray nature of data information, the improved gray relational model and the three-dimensional gray relational model are constructed to study, in-depth, the strategic focus and breakthrough of high-quality development of Chinese logistics enterprises. The research finds that the innovation and the operation ability of Chinese logistics enterprises are weak, which shows specifically in the following aspects: (1) The irrational structure of the employees, the proportion of employees with a bachelor degree or above is small, and the high-education personnel fail to significantly promote the corporate performance; (2) R&D expenditure has little effect on the high-quality development of enterprises. The proportion of R&D expenses is small and cannot be translated into actual benefits, and the ability of enterprise management innovation is insufficient. According to these findings, this paper gives three lean paths for the high-quality development of China’s logistics enterprises.

The results show that the comprehensive development degree (CDD) of the tourism-air environment system mainly maintains stable with fluctuation and the gap among different reaches in the Zone is declining; the coupling coordination degree’s (CCD) tendency in most regions remains similar as in the previous decade. The results illustrate that the method combing information entropy weight and the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (IEW-TOPSIS), coupling coordination degree model (CCDM), and gray GM (1, 1) prediction model is effective in evaluating the coupling coordination relationship between the subsystems of tourism and air environment and in proposing specific countermeasures for tourism development and air environment governance.

The protection of cultural heritage is essential to preserve the memory of the territory and its communities, but its enhancement is also important. In this perspective, the theme of choosing the best use for historic buildings, which often make up a substantial and widespread part of real estate and which can become a driving force for the sustainable development of cities, is important. These decision-making processes find effective support tools in Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) methods, able to consider the multiple financial, social, cultural, and environmental effects that the enhancement project generates. In order to identify the most appropriate evaluation approach to select the best use of the building, this paper proposes a comparison between some of the best-known MCDM methods: Analitic Hierarchy Process (AHP), ELimination Et Choix Traduisant la REalité (ELECTRE), Tecnique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), and the Compromise Ranking Method (VIKOR). The comparative analysis gives rise to the validity of the AHP, which is useful for reducing the problem into its essential components, so as to make a rational comparison among the design alternatives based on different criteria. The novelty of the research is the characterization of the hierarchical structure of the model, as well as the selection of criteria and indicators of economic evaluation. The application of the model to a real case of recovery and enhancement of a former convent in the province of Salerno (Italy) verifies the effectiveness of the tool and its adaptability to the specificities of the case study.

Supplier selection is one of the most important activities in supply chain management. The appropriate choice of supplier would help the company in terms of reducing purchase risk, maximizing the overall profit and increasing customer satisfaction. However, the method of selecting appropriate supplier is not straightforward as it involves number of potential companies with diverse criteria. This paper aims to propose a modified technique for order preference by incorporating the concepts of entropy weight, linguistic weighted average and cosine similarity measure. The proposed method is tested with a case of supplier selection problem. Of the five candidate suppliers, it is found that the supplier S3 is the best candidate. It indicates that the proposed method offers a feasible solution to supplier selection problem.
