The world has been shaken and normalcy has been  stifled due to Covid-19 pandemic leading the affected people to adapt to, adopt new ways of life and reconstitute habit inviting activities other than those previously practiced. Reading habits of university students have been affected adversely by the unprecedented pandemic. While the students, during this period being distanced from the regular academic environment, have opted for alternative engagements, the time for reading and number of books covered have dwindled remarkably. This article examined the changed dynamics of both academic and nonacademic reading habits of the students at public and private universities in Bangladesh. Data were collected from 700 students through a questionnaire using Google form. The results show that reading habits have been adversely affected during this pandemic as 44.6% students read books only 1-2 hours whereas 57.4% of them spend 5-6 hours using electronic devices for multiple purposes mostly other than reading. This study recommends developing a strategy by the concerned authority starting from the state level to institutions to attract the learners and facilitate learning online with a rich and reliable reservatory of study materials with easy accessibility.

Motivation and ability to orient ones’ knowledge, thought and behavior to accomplish entrepreneurial goals and tasks has recently termed as entrepreneurial regulation. Entrepreneurial regulation strongly affects the whole process of new venture creation and specifically entrepreneurial opportunity exploration that is the first step in the entrepreneurship process. However, few researchers examined the construct particularly among potential entrepreneurs such as university students. This study aims to measure self-regulation (promotion focus), entrepreneurial self-efficacy and intention to become an entrepreneur among university students. 722 students from both public and private universities were randomly selected as the participants based on the assumption that entrepreneurship education and training programs and university environment highly influence the development of entrepreneurial regulation, self-efficacy and intention in students. Analysis of the data revealed a significant relationship between students’ promotion focus, entrepreneurial self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intentions. Furthermore, students from public universities had significantly higher entrepreneurial regulation and intentions than their counterparts from private universities. We discuss the implications of the findings for entrepreneurship research, theory development and education.

Abstract Background Waterpipe smoking has become a global public health problem as its popularity increased over time, especially among youth. This study aims to examine waterpipe smoking patterns of university students in Ankara, Turkey, and compare the patterns in public and private universities, which have different economic and social environments. Students in these two types of universities differ, on average, in socioeconomic background and access to financial resources. Methods The survey was conducted among public (n=2685) and private (n=2485) university students via an online questionnaire. Logistic regressions (on the full sample and on the sample that excludes students who initiate before age 18) were used to test the association between ever using waterpipe and respondent characteristics such as age, gender, university type, living arrangements, and source of income. Descriptive statistics on consumption pattern (age at first use, use within last month, location of use, availability of waterpipe venues, whether it is usually shared, reasons for use, and harm perceptions) were also generated. Moreover, never, ever, and current user prevalence rates by age at first use were estimated for waterpipe and cigarettes. Results69% of students in private and 59% of students in public universities (p<0.001) were ever smokers of waterpipe. Being older, male, private university student, living alone or having roommate(s), as well as financial resources such as having access to a car, having income from work or family were associated with ever using waterpipe. Although more than half (68-70%) of ever users tried waterpipe before age 18, risk continued in university and 41-46% of those who tried before 18 were current users in university. For women who had abstained from waterpipe until university age, the risk of waterpipe use was higher in private than in public universities. ConclusionsWaterpipe smoking has increased and is highly common among university students. Students with higher socioeconomic status are at higher risk. There is an urgent need to implement the new creative interventions based on the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control to prevent the young people from waterpipe smoking after 18 years old.

Radicalism and anarchism can be carried out by students who are studying at public or private universities, especially in Serang City, Banten Province. The purpose of this study is to examine and improve the religiosity of university students in Serang City in countering radicalism and anarchism. The research used a qualitative approach with phenomenology as a method. The results of this study conclude that the religiosity of students in Serang City can be improved in several ways; carrying out periodical Islamic studies, istighasah (praying), learning to read and write the Qur'an, commemorating Islamic holidays, reviewing Islamic books, I’tikaf (staying) and taking care of the mosque, and going a pilgrimage. The role of universities in countering radicalism and anarchism, meanwhile, is by assigning Islamic religious education lecturers to guide and control the students to follow those activities.

In a highly populated country like Bangladesh where standards of living are rising steadily, more and more students are pursuing studies at university level.  With only a few publicly funded universities, private universities are now the main avenue for pursuing undergraduate studies. Competition is growing among these universities operating in a heavily regulated sector.  Substantial amounts are often being spent on attracting potential students.  However, without proper research into the area and understanding how students choose their universities, resources may end up being used ineffectively. This conceptual paper aims to identify the factors that students consider when choosing their universities.
