Benefits and drawbacks of telemedicine

Telemedicine is a vast subject, but as yet there are limited data on the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of most telemedicine applications. As a result, objective information about the benefits and drawbacks of telemedicine is limited. This review is therefore based mainly on preliminary results, opinions and predictions. Many potential benefits of telemedicine can be envisaged, including: improved access to information; provision of care not previously deliverable; improved access to services and increasing care delivery; improved professional education; quality control of screening programmes; and reduced health-care costs. Although telemedicine clearly has a wide range of potential benefits, it also has some disadvantages. The main ones that can be envisaged are: a breakdown in the relationship between health professional and patient; a breakdown in the relationship between health professionals; issues concerning the quality of health information; and organizational and bureaucratic difficulties. On balance, the benefits of telemedicine are substantial, assuming that more research will reduce or eliminate the obvious drawbacks.

Landscape architecture programs in the United States are assessed based on the quality of the professional education received by their students. Research is becoming an increasingly important part of the profession as evidence-based landscape architecture grows, and it is critical that university faculty provide information that can be used in professional practice to resolve important environmental and social issues. In many universities, individual landscape architecture faculty are encouraged to conduct research and their performance is evaluated based largely on the quantity and quality of their scholarly output. This paper used publicly-available information to conduct a citation analysis for individual faculty and professionally accredited landscape architecture programs across the US. There was a wide range in the contribution level with some programs and some individuals who were very productive, while many others contributed very little. This might point to an attempt by programs to maintain a balance between scholarly contributions and the education of professional landscape architects. As research becomes an increasing important part of the profession, the productive programs and individuals identified in this study might provide models for others to emulate.

The issue of declining quality of education in Nigeria is of serious national concern and quality language education is not an exception. A wide range of factors have been pointed out by experts as being responsible for this situation. Our purpose in this paper is to discuss possible ways of improving on the quality of language education being that the quality of an educational system cannot transcend that of the teachers. The paper contends that for quality language education to be provided, the teacher must be effective; he must be well grounded in both language and literature to effectively impart quality language education. The paper examines the interwoven relationship between language and literature and postulates that merely having many years of classroom experience does not automatically make one an effective teacher. It also discusses several other methods that could be adopted in teaching so as to improve on the quality of language education being provided. The paper concludes that the delicate relationship between language, literature and effective teaching must be sufficiently appreciated by the language teacher in order for the objectives of language course to be attained.

ABSTRACT The doctor patient relationship is of primary importance in the overall health care delivery model. It is a unique relationship which depends on trust and confidence between the parties for the provision of care. Establishing a doctor/patient relationship may take place formally in the office setting or informally, such as by giving verbal advice in a social setting. Doctors enter into a doctor-patient relationship with a commitment to provide their patients with quality service. Patients are entitled to be treated with respect and without discrimination during all stages of the doctor patient relationship, even if the relationship faces termination. However, when circumstances affect the doctors ability to achieve this, the doctors may decide to end the doctors patient relationship.

The article considers a teacher as a subject of monitoring the professional readiness of future workers in the oil and gas industry, who has pedagogical subjectivity in its implementation. This quality of personality is characterized in the context of the teacher's monitoring competence. The structure of pedagogical subjectivity is determined by the features of professional readiness of workers in the oil and gas industry and its monitoring. It involves the relationship of theoretical, technological, and personal components. The article presents the results of a ascertaining experiment that established insufficient formation of structural components of pedagogical subjectivity in monitoring. The expediency of correcting the identified problem aspects and related professional development of teachers to monitor the professional readiness of future workers in the oil and gas industry is justified. It is assumed that the problem of their formation is characterized by industry specifics and is implemented by means of additional professional education.

The combination of innovation and entrepreneurship education with administrative management can improve professional innovation ability and development thinking of students, and improve the quality of talent training. Based on the empirical analysis of six colleges in Conghua, Guangzhou, this paper analyzed the current problems in the integration of innovation and entrepreneurship education and administrative management in universities. Combined with survey and interview data and materials, this paper studied the relationship between innovation and entrepreneurship education and administrative management from the perspectives of students and teachers, summarized and classified the integrated characteristics of the surveyed colleges. It also proposed a four-in-one “1+4” integration circle of “teacher-company-university-society”, which centered on students, so as to escort the practice and guarantee of the two systems, and promote the high integration of innovation and entrepreneurship education and management majors in colleges.

The article is a generalization and analysis of some of the results of the monitoring of the satisfaction of graduates of the Russian State Social University, conducted in 2020. The results of similar monitoring carried out in other higher educational institutions are also considered. The article pays great attention to the relationship of various factors of graduates' satisfaction, corresponding to the prospects for improving the educational process based on the results of monitoring studies. The article may be of interest both for researchers of the educational process in universities and for a wide range of specialists in the field of university pedagogy.

Quality of care worries and rising costs have resulted in a widespread interest in enhancing the efficiency of health care delivery. One area of increasing interest is in promoting teamwork as a way of coordinating efforts to reduce costs and improve quality, and identifying the characteristics of the work environment that support teamwork. Relational climate is a measure of the work environment that captures shared employee perceptions of teamwork, conflict resolution, and diversity acceptance. Previous research has found a positive association between relational climate and quality of care, yet its relationship with costs remains unexplored. We examined the influence of primary care relational climate on health care costs incurred by diabetic patients at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs between 2008 and 2012. We found that better relational climate is significantly related to lower costs. Clinics with the strongest relational climate saved $334 in outpatient costs per patient compared with facilities with the weakest score in 2010. The total outpatient cost saving if all clinics achieved the top 5% relational climate score was $20 million. Relational climate may contribute to lower costs by enhancing diabetic treatment work processes, especially in outpatient settings.
