The article describes the difficulties of transition to distance learning (DL) at a medical university when students pass clinical disciplines, using the example of the subject of "psychiatry". The negative impact of the pandemic on international cooperation in the field of education and science was also noted, in particular, attracting foreign students to further education. Based on the above, the following tasks were set: to study the features of the transition to distance learning the subject of "psychiatry" at the Odessa National Medical University, to identify the features of distance work with English-speaking foreign students during their learning of this discipline and to present proposals for optimizing this process. During the transition to DL, a significant decrease in the quality of education was noticed during the absence of an existing learning management system, since this transition was a certain stress for all participants in the educational process, both students and teachers. Significant problems have arisen in the DL of clinical disciplines for English-speaking students. The greatest difficulty is the teaching of psychiatry, since it is difficult to explain to students in English not only the description of psychopathological symptoms and syndromes, but also the mental characteristics of people with other nationalities. It is proposed to use movies, with the main heroes suffering from mental disorders, as a thematic guide for mastering practical skills. Although some of the positive aspects of DL have been noted by medical students, they agree to DL only as a forced short-term measure.

COVID-19 pandemic has led to changes in all areas of human activity, and they have not escaped the education system. One of the new and most highly effective and, especially relevant, areas of improvement in the educational process of higher education is the use of distance learning. The aim of the research: to analyze the opportunities, advantages and disadvantages of using distance learning at a medical university. Distance learning is a form of learning with the use of computer and telecommunication technologies, which provide interaction of teachers and students at different stages of learning and independent work with materials from the information network. There are a number of platforms and applications as tools for effective, interesting and interactive learning: Moodle, Google Classroom, Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, WebEx, MyOwnConference, Microsoft Teams. Distance learning includes a set of the following components: providing educational material to the student; means of monitoring student performance; student consultations by the program-teacher; means of interactive cooperation between teacher and student; the ability to quickly add new information to the course, error correction. Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University uses Microsoft Teams as a tool for distance learning. Microsoft Teams is a state-of-the-art real-time video conferencing tool that integrates all Office 365 tools, gathers up to 300 participants, and holds meetings lasting up to 24 hours. Also, this service includes communication in general chat and personal messages, shared access to educational materials in various formats, access to the cloud environment, control of the level of knowledge can be carried out in the form of an oral interview and with the use of test tasks, sending files, it is possible to record video conferences, screen demonstrations, presentations, web pages, use the board. Distance learning has a number of advantages such as: flexibility, relevance, convenience, modularity, cost-effectiveness and the ability to simultaneously use a large amount of educational information for any number of students, interactivity, removing psychological barriers to communication, blurring borders, no direct contact between people, which allows to actively learn even during illness or self-isolation. However, despite these advantages, we should not forget about the disadvantages. Distance education requires a certain level of hardware and software. No matter how accessible computer distance education may seem, it requires the learner to have a computer and Internet access, which not everyone has. These also include: the need for a certain level of hardware and software, depersonalization of communication, negative impact on students' health, problems with mastering practical skills, lack of direct communication with patients, inability to participate in professors wardrounds, supervise patients. As for carrying out diagnostic procedures using special devices and tools, it is an indisputable fact: you can watch videos about a certain manipulation many times, you may perfect know the algorithm of its performance, but without ever trying to do it yourself, it is impossible to master this manipulation. Studying at a medical university has its own specifics, so distance learning cannot completely replace the traditional educational process and prepare future doctors for further practice.

To analyze the peculiarities of teaching the surgical discipline among Ukrainian-speaking and English-speaking students of medical faculties of the 5th year.Material and methods. The analysis involved 10 groups of medical faculties №1, №2 and №3. The total number of students who took part in the analysis was 125, of which 76 were Ukrainian-speaking (60.8%), English-speaking - 49 (39.2%).Results. As a result of the analysis, a better and faster adaptation of the student society to distance learning was revealed in comparison with teachers. Due to the fact that surgery is a clinical discipline and is practically oriented, it requires the use of a significant amount and volume of multimedia materials, as well as high-quality photo content. Considering that the Department of Surgery №2 conducts active treatment and diagnostic work, the availability of multimedia material, photographs of clinical cases in dynamics, as well as other thematic content, did not create difficulties for the transition to distance learning and allowed the department to quickly adapt to the difficult conditions of the educational process. At the same time, when demonstrating to students the video material with the teacher's comments, one could notice that some of the students (32%) did not follow the demonstration of the material.Conclusions. The undoubted advantage of distance learning is that the educational process can continue, despite any challenges of modern life. Teachers and students can interact in real time and solve problems of the thematic plan. However, there remains a significant drawback of this form of education - it is the impossibility of objectively assessing the level of knowledge and skills of the student in the conditions of the student's use of outside sources and prohibited ways to answer questions.

The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly affected the organization of the educational process in Russian universities. The object of the research is the experience of implementing e-education and the transition to distance technologies for continuing education of Chinese undergraduates in the Russian metropolitan university. Russian universities had the technical capabilities and used various electronic educational platforms. In the same time, the results of the survey showed a decrease in the satisfaction of Chinese full-time students when switching to distance learning. The study shows the significant factors that had a negative impact on the educational process using distance technology to teach Chinese undergraduates during the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors have grouped these factors into five groups (technical, language, emotional, and financial, content of lecture). Identification of these factors made it possible to develop a program to improve the educational process and enhance the satisfaction of foreign students studying at Russian universities.

Distance learning (DL) is a completely new and unique form of education, which got forced to switch to by the current pandemic of coronavirus disease. Note that until now, distance learning technologies have been used at the department of general and clinical pathological physiology and some other departments of the Odessa National Medical University (ONMedU). The aim of this analytical article is to analyze the efficacy of ONMedU General and Clinical Pathological Physiology Department staff during the one and a half year period of the coronavirus infection pandemic with an accent to psychological approach to students modified teaching. The urgent need of time and the primary desire to protect students and their own lives during 2020-2021 requires us to improve our own pedagogical approaches in the further on-line teaching of students. We see success in systematic methodological work with students, the implementation of which will make it possible to evoke and increase their motivation to study histology. The importance of this methodological technique, supported in the senior years of medical universities by the integration of teaching theoretical and clinical disciplines, the approximation of teaching to specific clinical cases will help optimize the assimilation of morphological knowledge by students at least and, undoubtedly, in the near future will lead to a better assimilation of clinical disciplines. In connection with the ideas of individualized and developmental learning, the use of psychological capabilities of learning tools in the virtual environment brings both pedagogy and psychology to a new level of understanding the mediation of mental, creative, communicative and executive learning and learning activities. The use of distance learning helps the students to acquire skills of independent work, creates comfortable conditions for creativity, increases the creative and intellectual potential of the student through self-organization, the ability to interact with computer technology and make responsible decisions, creates favorable conditions for individual creative expression in the process of learning, for the development of the student's personality. The authors are convinced that the optimization and improvement of the educational process in medical universities is to draw students' attention to the problems that the medical community is dealing with on a daily basis today.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed all aspects of life and learning in the world and in Ukraine. Quarantine restrictions made it impossible to conduct the educational process in medical universities by traditional methods (oral and written questioning, testing, attending lectures, participation in clinical trials and operations), which led to the restructuring of the educational process and the transition to distance learning. The aim of the work was to highlight the features of the organization of distance learning in higher medical institutions of Ukraine during the pandemic on the example of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. Learning management systems (LMSs) use the online learning platform Moodle to effectively conduct distance learning. Due to the dynamism, modularity, flexibility of this platform, students have continuous access to educational materials, undergo current and final test control of the level of knowledge acquisition and preparation for the exam Step-1, Step-2. The online service Microsoft Teams allows teachers and students to communicate in real time, conduct video lectures, discussions, surveys, control of students’ self-preparation, increase the motivational component of training by creating creative questions in Forms, running marathons and others. A high-quality distance learning process requires its digitization and informatization, teamwork of teachers and students, changing the role of the teacher as a mentor and coordinator, increasing the motivational component by introducing creative approaches to learning.

deterioration of epidemiological situation in the country and educational institutions due to the spread of coronavirus infection prompted the government to change the educational process and move it to distance learning. Psychological support and assistance of future doctors are critical, as, in our country, there is a growing shortage of medical staff, namely doctors, during the COVID-19 pandemic. One way to solve the above problems is to study students of higher medical institutes (SHMI) views on the transition to distance learning, which is essential to identify weaknesses and issues in the higher medical institutions of our country and to purposefully take measures to improve the pedagogical process based on identified needs. The aim of our research includes assessment of the level of physical activity and psycho-emotional health of the higher medical education seekers' of the healthcare field specialty 222 medicine using distance education under quarantine conditions (additional psycho-emotional impact) and establish ways for improving it with a combination of distance education and different psycho-emotional impact. A survey was conducted among 155 Bogomolets National Medical University SHMI of the 1st and 2nd year of study. Developed by us questionnaire have included questions about the assessment of the educational process organization (at the classroom and at "distance"), SHMI routine (work and leisure), namely amount of their spending time for sports and on the gadget use. Significant attention had been given to SHMI assessment of their health, psycho-emotional state, and level of adaptation during the study. During processing results of the motor activity study of surveyed SHMI had been revealed an insufficient level of motor activity. Thus, only 14% of SHMI do morning gymnastics, 29% of respondents go in for sports three times a week. We also found that a significant proportion of respondents have not enough duration of night sleep, which negatively affects the study's success and potentially worsens their health. Analysis of the surveyed SHMI work and rest schedule shows that most SHMI sleep at night on weekdays for 6 to 7 hours (72%). 25% of respondents have a sleep duration of up to 5 hours and only 3% of respondents have slept more than 9 hours. However, chronic insomnia can gradually lead not only to diseases but also to disorders such as, decreasing concentration memory impairment, reduce performance and work efficiency. Significant mental and psycho-emotional overload during distance education requires establishing of physiological day regime. Assessment of the functional state of SHMI allows timely attention and identifies certain risk groups among SHMI. Currently, distance education is developing rapidly due to quarantine restrictions, the rapid development of the Internet, and the constant improvement of communication methods. Therefore, it is essential to improve the effective organization of distance education in terms of providing SHMI with the required level of knowledge and paying due attention to problem issues.

The article deals with an urgent issue of a systematic research of foreign students studying in Ukraine. Successful learning and social adaptation of young people greatly depend on learning the Ukrainian language. In addition to the obvious advantages, it is advisable to pay particular attention to the system of theoretical and methodological support of the educational process, starting from the author’s textbooks and finishing with modern information technologies. Forming the communicative competence of a medical professional is impossible without taking into account the value-motivational side of this process. In this regard, the communicative training of the healthcare worker is viewed within an axiological approach. As a consequence, professional values are the central category. Peculiarities of future doctors’ professional values formation as a component of communicative competence are considered. The study, aimed at analysing the development of professional qualities of foreign medical students, was conducted at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University in the 2018-2019 academic year. The study was carried out under the guidance of professors A.Vykhrushch and N. Fedchyshyn by lecturers of I Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University T. Khvalyboha (EdD), I. Drach (PhD), M. Rudenko (PhD) that teach students-foreigners at the Department of the Ukrainian Language and Department of Foreign Languages.
