BACKGROUND Human teeth and bones consist of hard and soft tissues. Preparing calcified tissues for histological analysis by decalcification is a time-consuming procedure, and the quality of the sections thus obtained is dependent on the speed with which decalcification occurs, as well as the chemistry of the decalcification agent. The present study was intended to identify the method that combines the highest quality of stained sections with a short period of time. METHODS 50 extracted premolars were subjected to decalcification using 10 % Formic acid and 5 % Trichloroacetic acid (TCA). The efficacy of decalcifying agents was evaluated by recording the time taken by particular acid to decalcify the tooth completely. The preservation of morphological characteristics was assessed on the basis of ease of sectioning, uniformity of staining, damage to odontoblast layer, retraction of pulp and fraying of dentinal tubules. RESULTS Comparatively decalcification was faster with 5 % TCA than 10 % Formic acid. Whereas, 10 % formic acid was more considerate on soft tissues than 5 % TCA. All the results were statistically significant. CONCLUSIONS Samples decalcified with 10 % formic acid gave fairly good results, so it can be used in cases of diagnostic urgencies. Aim. To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis according to the following PICO question: in extracted human permanent teeth, does preflaring, compared with unflared canals, influence the accuracy of WL determination with EAL? Material and Methods. A systematic review was conducted according to the PRISMA checklist, using the following databases: PubMed, Science Direct, Scopus, and Web of Science. Studies related to WL determination using EAL both in preflared and unflared root canals of extracted human teeth were included. The outcome of interest was the accuracy of the electronic WL determination. A quality assessment of the included studies was performed, determining the risk of bias. The meta-analyses were calculated with the 5.4 RevMan software using the inverse variance method with random effects. PROSPERO registration: CRD42021243412. Results. Ten experimental studies fulfilled the inclusion criteria, and most of them found that preflaring increases the accuracy of the EALs in WL determination. The calculated OR was 1.98 (95% CI = 1.65–2.37; p < 0.00001; I2 = 10%), indicating that the determination of WL by EALs is almost twice as accurate in preflared canals. The accuracy of Root ZX in WL determination increases more than three times (OR = 3.25; p < 0.00001). Preflaring with Protaper files significantly increases the accuracy of EALs (OR = 1.76; p < 0.00001). The total risk of bias of the included studies was low. No obvious publication bias was observed. Conclusions. The results indicate a significant increase in the accuracy of WL determination with EAL after preflaring, doubling the percentage of exact measurements. Preflaring should be recommended as an important step during mechanical enlargement of the root canal, not only because it improves the access of the files to the canal, but also because it allows one to obtain more accurate electronic determinations of WL.

Any kind of suture material in the tissues of the body is a foreign body that causes various reactive changes from the tissues. The nature of these changes, all other things being equal, is mainly determined by the type of suture material, its thickness and the method of sterilization of the tissues on which the sutures are applied, the trauma of surgery, the infection of the wound and the irritating effect of the threads on the tissues.

Digital technologies, ubiquitous in our daily life, have radically changed the way we work, communicate, and consume in a short period of time. They affect all components of quality of life: well-being, work, health, education, social connections, environmental quality, the ability to participate and govern civil society, and so on. Digital transformation creates both opportunities and serious risks to the well-being of people. Researchers and statistical agencies around the world are facing a major challenge to develop new tools to analyze the impact of digital transformation on the well-being of the population. The risks are very diverse in nature and it is very difficult to identify the key factor. All researchers conclude that secure digital technologies significantly improve the lives of those who have the skills to use them and pose a serious risk of inequality for society, as they introduce a digital divide between those who have the skills to use them and those who do not. In the article, the author examines the risks created by digital technologies for some components of the quality of life (digital component of the quality of life), which are six main components: the digital quality of the population, providing the population with digital benefits, the labor market in the digital economy, the impact of digitalization on the social sphere, state electronic services for the population and the security of information activities. The study was carried out on the basis of the available statistical base and the results of research by scientists from different countries of the world. The risks of the digital economy cannot be ignored when pursuing state social policy. Attention is paid to government regulation aimed at reducing the negative consequences of digitalization through the prism of national, federal projects and other events.

Internal root resorption (IRR) refers to a slow or rapid progressive resorption process that occurs in the pulp cavity of the tooth or the dentin of the root. IRR occurs as result of odontoclast action; in many cases, the pulp tissue exhibits chronic inflammation, and odontoblasts and predentin do not appear on the dentin wall near the pulp. Exact predisposing factors have not been clearly elucidated; therefore, it is difficult to identify reliable data on the prevalence of IRR because of its scarce occurrence and pathology. Reports have indicated that IRR is more common in the primary than in the permanent teeth. This case report discusses a 17-year-old girl with multiple idiopathic internal root resorptions of anterior permanent teeth in a short period of a time and its management.

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is the preferred imaging method for a comprehensive orthodontic examination. Thanks to the development of this technique, clinicians today can make most accurate measurements without fear of errors associated with projection distortion or localization of landmarks on radiographs. The quality of CBCT images gives to orthodontists the ability to analyze bone structures, teeth (even impacted teeth), and soft tissue in three dimensions. The accuracy of measurements of hard and soft tissues from CBCT images determines the accuracy of diagnosis and treatment planning. A fundamentally new approach has been proposed, which makes it possible to thoroughly study the bone tissue surrounding the tooth at the stages of planning orthodontic treatment. Аnalysis of radiation studies of patients with dentoalveolar anomalies was carried out to select the optimal treatment tactics and to control its effectiveness.

Introduction: Leishman stain has been used as the stain of choice for peripheral blood films since many decades .But it has a disadvantage of consuming 15 minutes for the procedure alone thereby increasing the turn around time of peripheral smear reporting. In this study modified Leishman stain was made by adding phenol to conventional Leishman to reduce the staining time to 3 minutes without interfering with the quality of stain. Aim: To study the quality of modified Leishman stain in comparison with conventional preparation on peripheral blood smears. Materials and Methods: The present cross-sectional study was carried out in Central Haematology laboratory of a tertiary health care centre in Southern India. A pilot study was done to determine the ideal ratio of phenol to Leishman powder in preparing modified stain without compromising the staining quality. After obtaining consent, the blood sample was collected in anticoagulated vials. Sample size was calculated to be 85.Two thin wedge smears were prepared from each sample and one was stained with conventional Leishman stain and other with modified Leishman stain. The staining characteristics were assessed and scored by an experienced pathologist in terms of 6 parameters- RBC pattern, nuclear pattern, neutrophil granules, eosinophil granules, platelets and background staining. The grades were 1, 2, 3 & 4 (poor, satisfied, good and excellent). Smears each with grades 2, 3 and 4 were selected for study. The results were analysed by Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software version 16.0. Result: The mean value for the staining quality using conventional method was 4.73 and for modified method was 5.39, and the total score possible is 6. Photomicrograph showed excellent results with modified Leishman stain. Thus from these values we can interpret that modified method gave much more acceptable results than that of conventional method. Conclusion: Unlike the conventional method which requires a total of 15 minutes, to complete the staining process, modified Leishman staining techniques takes only 3 minutes. Blood films can be stained within a short period of time thus aiding in rapid diagnosis and treatment of patients. Keywords: Leishman stain, Modified Leishman stain, Phenol.

This study was aimed at observing the effect of the grafting of tomato plants on morphological (vegetative growth), production and nutritive characteristics (quantity and quality of production). For this purpose, the ‘Lorely F1’ cultivar was used as a scion grafted onto the ‘Beaufort’ rootstock. Plants were cultivated with a stem and two stems. The observations collected in this study were concerned with the characteristics of plant growth. The studied morphological characteristics were plant height, stem diameter and number of leaves, and the studied production characteristics were the characteristics of fructification and productivity (the average number of fruit per plant, the average weight of the fruit, production per plant). Particular attention was paid to the nutritional characteristics of the fruit, to the fruit quality (total soluble solids, total sugar, acidity, vitamin C, antioxidant activity (by the Trolox method) and the contents of lycopene and beta-carotene). The results showed that grafting positively influenced the growth and production characteristics. Grafting of tomato plants had an appreciable effect on the vegetative growth of the variant 2-grafted tomatoes with a stem. The best option in terms of productivity and production was the variant 3-grafted tomatoes with two stems, which yielded 9.2 kg per plant. Fruit quality was not improved in any of the grafted variants.

The evaluation of the morphological quality of rivers is essential to define the level of alteration and for implementing future management strategies that consider also hazards related to fluvial processes and channel dynamics. This type of evaluation is particularly significant for the Italian rivers, that, as in many other European countries, have a very high level of human pressure. Recently, in Italy, the National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research has promoted a methodology named IDRAIM for hydromorphological analysis of streams that pursues an integrated approach aimed at a harmonized implementation of both the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD, 2000/60/EC), and the EU Floods Directive (2007/60/EC). In this paper we present the application of the Morphological Quality Index (MQI) protocol, which is part of IDRAIM, to determine the assessment of the morphological quality of the Cordevole River. The water network (only collectors greater than thirdorder were considered), has been divided, through GIS software, into 132 river reaches of homogeneous morphological characteristics, according to the first phase of the method. At this stage the semi-automatic calculation of lateral confinement (defined by “degree of confinement” and a “confinement index”) was tried, in order to reduce the implementing time. The application of 28 indicators was made for 42 reaches representing the major river types and human pressures in the site investigation. The results showed that 48% of the analyzed reaches have a very good or good quality status, 38% have a moderate morphological quality, while only 14% have the characteristics of poor or very poor quality. The main causes that lead to a strong alteration of the terms of reference are linked to i) poor connectivity between hillslopes and river corridor, that is very important for the natural supply of sediment and large wood; ii) absence of vegetation in the river corridor, that is functional to a range of geomorphic processes; iii) presence of artificial elements, particularly the bedload interception structures in the catchment, bank protection along the reach, and the removal of sediment, large wood and vegetation.

Nowadays, the problem of prosthetic with non-removable orthopedic structures is quite common and is widely described in domestic and foreign literature. Prosthetics of non-removable structures of prosthetics has a number of advantages: complete rehabilitation of biting function, chewing efficiency, aesthetic norm of a smile. Invisible prosthesis designs, usually small in size, have a short period of psychological and physiological adaptation, which has a good reflection on their long-term use by the patient. The examination of dental patients in the clinic of orthopedic dentistry with unsatisfactory results of prosthetic dentures after 5 years with orthopedic treatment allowed to highlight the main indicators of inapplicability regarding the further use of dentures in terms of biocompatibility, mechanical strength and aesthetic properties. The main aim of the study was to improve the quality of patients’ treatment by identifying the causes of treatment complications by an orthopedist using the method of comparative analysis during the examination of patients with unsatisfactory results of dentures using permanent dentures. To identify the causes of complications of orthopedic treatment, a clinical examination of patients with unsatisfactory results of treatment with permanent constructions of dentures on a cast base was performed. The criteria for evaluation were the following indicators: bad breath, gums pain and bleeding, pain and mobility of the supporting teeth, pain under the intermediate part, metallic taste, pain in the blood vessel, darkening of the lining, chipping the lining, obscuring gums, excessive abrasion, and cleavage. From anamnesis and records in the history of the disease, the period of difficulty was determined. Our research results indicate that a significant part of ineffective treatment is due to the wrong choice of auxiliary and structural materials. Given that the choice of materials is performed arbitrarily, in almost half of cases, taking into account the wishes of patients and their financial capabilities, including the physical, mechanical and clinical and technological characteristics of dental materials, in our opinion, it is necessary to create a computer model of rational choice of material, therapeutic and prophylactic measures to improve the effectiveness of orthopedic treatment for patients with defects in hard tissues of teeth and dentition with non-removable structures. The complex of the following studies will allow the orthopedic dentist to continue improving the quality of patients’ treatment at the clinical stages of treatment with non-removable dentures.
